Very sadly Robin has been returned this morning. The two dogs attacked each other, Robin coming of worse. Her owner is heartbroken at returning her. Robin has gone straight out to foster so she can have care of her wounds until she has healed.

    I’m Homed

Two words describe today - hot, and hot!!! Unsurprisingly it was extremely quiet, and even too hot for the boys and girls to spend time out in the feeding runs. The shape of the kennels makes the runs a sun trap and it was just so very hot, the doggies came out for wees then took refuge on the cool tile floors of their kennels. Typical of the British weather the forecast for the weekend is awful - but at least we will be cooler! Don’t forget raffle tickets for the 16th Birthday Grand draw are on sale, as are tickets for the amazing garden chair - give us a call to take part and be in with a chance for some great prizes, whilst helping our lovely boys and girls. Another weekend is upon us so join me in raising a glass of chilled white wine to our current residents and foster doggies and wish for their forever homes to come along very soon. Stay safe & cool - cheers! Angie xx

Poor little Socki has a sore hock at the moment...she wasn't able to join the others for a walk this morning. She is sharing the kitchen run and kennel with Dougie who is also recovering from his recent toe injury. They do make a lovley couple! Do hope they will soon find their forever homes. Xxx

Sadly Bee has been returned this morning. Since homing, the child of the family who is 4 years old who was originally involved with the choosing of Bee has since built up a psychological fear of not only her but now all dogs. Despite all attempts to resolve this, it was decided the best thing was to return her. Bee is great around children, good on the lead, good with other breeds, toilet trained, can be left for up to 6 hours. She is very loving and is clearly distressed at being back at the kennels. She is excited by cats who used to sit on the shed roof in the garden!

Today is Skip's 4th Gotcha Day. The day started with walks then there were treats including mackerel in tomato sauce sandwiches. New toys arrived - one each - this afternoon so there was a bit of play time. You are a truly wonderful companion and make me laugh when you throw your toys around the room and do mad zoomies. Love you loads my Skip. x

    I’m Homed

Thanks to Denise for opening up and getting on with the cleaning and feeding as usual. We only had a few dogs to walk as we had a couple of doggie non walker's today, thanks to the Wednesday walkers for taking the dogs out, making coffee (which sadly did go cold) and sending toasted fruit loaf my way!! We had a new arrival this morning, the lovely Zavi, I think he and Dougie will have a competition to see who is the best at stealing!! He very carefully tried to remove the donation trolley cover, I managed to stop him before he succeeded. As we were very few on volunteers this afternoon Denise, Nabeela and myself took the dogs that could walk on lead around the sand run, I took Zavi, I think his sat nav was broken as he was all over the place. He is very affectionate and am sure after a few days he will settle down, after all it is a completely new environment for him. Tomorrow we have another new arrival, I will look forward to seeing her on Friday. X

    I’m Homed

Socki paid her first visit to Elmdon Park today She's an extremely pretty and affectionate white and brindle girl with a very gentle nature in the kennels She did surprise me then slightly by the way she sprang into life at the sight of other dogs running around in the distance. She was very keen to join in and also the sight of squirrels sent her into overdrive. She did however walk past other breeds with no extreme reaction. It seems she's fine with dogs walking past but gets excited when they're running around. A lovely girl who will hopefully find her forever home very quickly.

  • Dougie

    I’m Homed

If there is one hound who puts a smile on everyone faces at Daybreaks then its Dougie. He is one big bundle of laughs as he skillfully pinches items from the donation trolly and then looks as if to say hmm it was like that when I got here. Even his recent unfortunate injury didn't slow him down or stop him bouncing with fun. I think if he was a stand up comedian then he would be Tommy Cooper, not having to do much to make people laugh. I can see him enjoying himself playing with teenage children chasing after his toys. Its a shame he is still waiting for his forever home, he has so much love to give and there would never be a dull moment with him. He needs his forever home..."just like that" xx
