I had a lovely call today from one of our supporters, Phil the Growler (he will understand the reference)! He wanted to know how much the birthday party had raised. We had raised the fantastic amount of £1888 and some odd pence as well as some donations sent by post. He very kindly made a donation as he and his work colleagues had a whip round. So thanks to them we have exceeded £2000. Thanks to everyone for their support. Xx

Daybreaks Diary!

What a fabulous day! Kate and I took Tilly out to her new home and she was in heaven with exploring her lovely big garden! She found a stash of digestive biscuits too!!! This afternoon was hot at the kennels and Matthew helped me clean teeth and groom many of the inmates and then it was time for Dougie's homing and he has just left to live in Gloucester! Jo popped to Morrisons and collected donations which we are very grateful for. x

Mikey your sofa is out there somewhere ,you are a gorgeous unique boy ,my Cadbury was a complex boy but we worked through his issues and he allowed us to love him for 5 wonderful years sit tight and enjoy your biscuits !!

Our bouncy boy was neutered today, we are kind of hoping it might calm him down! :)) Richard collected him from the vets for us this afternoon, he was rather wobbly on his return and found walking in a straight line quite a challenge. Xxx By closing time he was much more like his usual happy self. :)) Xxx

So sad to see Mikey back at the kennels again. We are very grateful to his family for giving him a chance...sadly things sometimes just don't work out. They were very upset to have to return him. Mikey was absolutely fine today and tonight he came out for a wee and was looking for his biscuit treat to go to bed with! A very complex young lad...however long it takes we will find him his forever home. :)) Xxx Lots of love to you Mikey. Xxx

Mikey - what can I say! The lad is back! He has had three homes and two foster homes and we wonder if he is telling us that he just prefers Daybreaks! So what is his problem? He seems to take a dislike to certain people and then will snap - possibly resource guarding?.... However NEVER does this at the kennels! He is a very intelligent boy and has been checked over by Wendy a chiropractor who couldn't detect any problems. We will spend a lot of time working with him now and assessing him but for now but it is safe to say he was happy to be back at the kennels and has had fun in the sand run already!

Ok, to begin with if this makes no sense it's because I've broken 2 pairs of glasses within a few days! And am struggling to see!! So, today we were very short of help, it was Denise and myself until the depleted Wednesday walkers arrived, we were two down as they were on holiday. Regardless, thanks to them for walking the dogs this morning. We had a new arrival, the lovely Molly, she was quite timid to begin with but this afternoon enjoyed her walk and dinner. Thanks so much to everyone for their help today. Xx

Daybreaks Diary!

I asked Jude our lovely volunteer on a Monday to cover the calls and paperwork whilst myself, Kate, Jo, Denise, Angie and Rosie had our virtual training session with Petplan. We are now all up to speed with the latest insurance guidelines and also positive changes in the Petplan cover. Following this, we had a viewing for the very pretty and unusual Tilly and then Kate and I went out to do the home visit. Not only is Tillys new owner just wonderful (we did ask if she would consider adopting us too!), but Tilly is going to be in absolute heaven with exploring the beautiful garden. Parking was fun as they were doing filming at the house opposite but the security guard helped us out and we got into conversation about greyhounds etc etc… let’s just say Kate and I finally got back to the kennels around 5pm where Jo and Mollie had fed and cleaned down. Mollie and I then had a sad trip to Fivelands as one of our resident chickens, Sage, was helped to fly to feather heaven. Thank you to our regular Monday volunteers and congratulations to Louisa who collected her raffle prize - the chocolate hamper and a page in next year’s calendar! As she doesn’t currently have her own greyhound she will have her work cut out trying to decide on a current inmate perhaps to be photographed. X
