Can I echo what Ruth has said, I had our first grey for 13 years, an only dog and never wanted two !! When Charlie passed away we had Bertie from Daybreaks and ended up fostering blade, it has totally transformed my view on having one dog !! Bertie now has a friend and it has taken the emphasis off us, there are now four in our pack and although they are never really left alone as they come to work with us, they do spend a lot of time in the car together, and we do feel under less pressure as they have each others company, fostering is an excellent idea as it is helping a hound in need with no pressure to make it permanent and also the most important thing is that is the right hound for Milly !

My poor fella Joe is unwell again with his throat - it started in the early hours of this morning and we had a trip to the vets first thing for an injection of antibiotics and diazepam to try and calm him. However throughout the day his temp has continued to go up and he now has swelling as well in his chest and going down his legs. The worry is infection so he has been admitted on a drip. I am hoping with all my heart he improves so he can come home as soon as possible. I feel so helpless...............

Do you give him white fish or oily fish (they tend not to put weight on with white fish)? How about trying him with a rice pudding perhaps adding some peanut butter to it. Do you think he would he eat Weetabix instead of porridge? Try him with a quiche. Glad to hear he's put some weight on and that his tummy has settled with the pain relief. Keep up your good work, he'll be an amazing dog thanks to you. Give him a hug from me and my Blue.

Great to hear Ash is doing so well and 7 kilos is an amazingly good gain in weight. Sending him an electronic cuddle and not forgetting the brilliant Charlie Mouse!

Hi Helen, have you tried all the techniques in the training guide you borrowed? Would you like one of us to come out and help with training? I will see you tomorrow so we can have a chat x (perhaps a friend for her would help tho! You could always foster.......) x

Very concerned about Milly's continuing separation anxiety. If we leave her for even a short while she is getting very distressed. The howling has now been added to with barking and today we came home to find she had weed on the floor. We have tried leaving on music, leaving a Kong, tried shutting curtains but nothing helps. Trying to get her used to us leaving by putting on and taking off coats, going outside for a couple of minutes then coming back without fuss but so far it doesn't seem to be working. Has anyone experienced this and have any ideas what to do.? Any ideas welcome! Thanks. Helen

Hi Deb & Rich. Louis is doing really well. He is such a lovely boy....he is no trouble at all and is so well behaved. He is eating well and had put on a little weight. He wasn't keen on the Burns at first, but is eating it o.k now. We soak it in water for an hour, then mash it with a potato masher, then we crumble chicken...ham...or corned beef, and mix it in well with the Burns, and he loves it !!! He has got to have another dental done...but we will sort that early in the new year. Our boy Pip has taken him under his wing and taught him the house rules...not that there are many...lol. Will give him your cuddle. X.

l don't think anyone would consider you selfish Ruth. You do so much for the kennel dogs, as well as your own !!! l'm sure there must be someone out there who could offer Woody a loving home. For anyone who hasn't met him...he is a gorgeous boy...and has the most amazing long, thin, pointy nose, and his overshot jaw gives him cuteness by the bucket load. Please everyone...if you are considering adopting...take a look at this boy...we have to find him his own sofa before Xmas !!!!!!!

    I’m Homed

Please please please someone, offer this gorgeous boy a home. He has settled in well here and can be left for several hours through the day but is happy with the company of our 5 greys. He sleeps downstairs at night and walks really well on the lead. He is good with small breeds but sadly not cat friendly. I currently have a poorly Joe who needs some extra TLC, Basil who is really quite wobbly and post op boy Flash. If anyone was able to offer Woody a home (permanent or foster) I would be soooooooo grateful.... It sounds selfish, but the Boswell babes need my undivided attention at the moment and our house is booked with more post ops on Thursday so I feel owe it to them in their twilight years to give them a quieter life. I don't want to leave Woody at the kennels after all he has been through - he is such a good boy and just needs a home to call his own x
