No surprise...... this very handsome boy has just been reserved! Not only that - he has a new name already chosen - Basil! I am so pleased as I know the family very well so I will get to see him often!

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

It is with great sadness that I heard of the passing of Roxie. The family have written the following tribute and asked for me to post on their behalf. Very sad news...darling Roxie was put to sleep on Wednesday 27 March 2024. She had become unwell a few weeks ago with a serious problem in her tummy. The problem persisted so she had tests including an ultrasound. Despite this she still had a good appetite and enjoyed gently playing with her squeaky toys but was obviously getting worse despite steroid treatment. She lost a massive amount of weight and began to go downhill quite quickly over the last few days. With no benefit from steroids and no other treatment that would help her the best thing was to prevent any further suffering so the vet helped her on her way. As ever she was a gentle, patient girl at the vet and didn’t murmur or flinch at the injection. Three of us held her as she gently slipped away, telling her what a good girl she was. She was far too young to leave us – she would have been 7 on 1 July. To say that we are heartbroken doesn’t even cover it. Sleep well Roxie….sweetest, best girl ever. With very best wishes and thanks for all the wonderful work that you do. Shellie Baytt

A big thank you to our very dear friend Phil and his work colleagues at Sertec for organising a delivery of goodies for our Greyhounds and volunteers last week and another one due for tomorrow! Phil's support to Daybreaks over the last few years has been absolutely fantastic! Xxx Sadly, Phil has not been well recently and will be retiring from his job in the next couple of months....he will still continue with his fund raising and donations for us whenever possible. Sending him our love and gratitude for everything he does for us and our "Growlers" :))) Xxx

A very busy day today.... It was Easter pamper day :)) Alfie, Bobby, Angus and Dusty all came along to see Laura. Xx They got an Easter gift too. :)) Laura's lovely Daughter Libby decorated the gift bags for her. Xxx It was great to see everyone. Xxx Our handsome lad Monty was officially adopted! So very, very happy for him. At last he has a lovely family of his own. Xxx We had several visitors to use the sand run. It made a nice change for the dogs to be able to have a play without getting wet! 🙂 Xxx Thanks to everyone who bought Easter Raffle tickets, your support is very much appreciated. We are so grateful to Angie and Michael for organising the lovely prizes. Xxx It was a really nice spring day today both morning and afternoon walks were enjoyed by the dogs and the volunteers. Good to walk in the sunshine instead of the rain! :)) Wishing everyone a very happy Easter! Xxx

Nice spring day today. Expected it to rain but it didnt which was nice. I got to the kennels to help Chris this afternoon just as Matt was finishing his Friday morning volunteering. It was just me and Chris then. Dogs were walked / ran in the sand run. We then had a visitor to the run with 3 cockerspaniels who loved the sunshine. We also had a visit from a family that were looking at our fabulous 3 sisters - Alder, Elm and Tulip. Desicions to think about for them... the dad of the family is also going to help me promote my July 2024 Press Up Challenge, watch that event page for updates. It was then afternoon feeding and cleaning of the kennels. All residents were tucked up in bed with sausage treats that were donated by my place of work, the CBS Arena. Remember, tomorrow is our Easter Quiz at the Rugby Club behind the kennels. 730pm onwards... Thank you to Chris for her continued help and hard work supporting the kennels and trust.!!

Cuddle for Ojay tonight. Still little nervous of his surroundings in the kennels but he is such a cute softy. He will come out his shell in due course.

It actually felt more like spring today! Great to see the sun for a change...the dogs all went out without their coats on this morning! :)) I think Norman was quite pleased he didn't have to take Elm to the park wearing her bright yellow fleece adorned with Dinosaurs! :))) Roxie absolutely loved being out in the sunshine and spent several minutes rolling around on one of the raised beds in the run legs in the air! Xxx We welcomed new lad Ojay to Daybreaks this afternoon. A very handsome lad. Xxx He arrived Just in time for enrichment games and throughly enjoyed himself. :)) it was very quiet for walkers this afternoon, Shirley and I left Richard in charge and took the dogs out for their walks. Again no coats! :)) I had the pleasure of walking Billy B, Incy and Alder. Xxx Thanks so much to everyone who came in to help look after the dogs today! 🙂 Xxx

Ojay arrived at the kennels this afternoon...what a very handsome young man! Xxx His Trainer says he is a lovely lad who only had one race. He was retired straight away after a wrist injury. He told me Ojay is not a big fan of water, if he sees a puddle he walks around it. :)) Richard and Shirley offered to give him a bath...we were not surprised when he really didn't like getting wet. Shirley got rather wet too! He was very happy when he was wrapped in a nice dry towel coat and had his dinner. :)) Welcome to Daybreaks Ojay! Xxx

Elm is a very attractive bouncy girl who paid her first visit to Elmdon Park today. She travelled in a relaxed way in the car In the park she was quite keen on the lead and wanted to join in with dogs running off their leads She met other breeds without aggression although did show extra curiosity towards very small ones. A friendly girl who will make a wonderful addition to any home
