Daybreaks Diary!

I took Alex off to the vets this morning to be neutered. He was a little stressed when he arrived at the vets but I left him in the care of their lovely staff Debbie and Izzy. I collected him this afternoon and he enjoyed his dinner when he got back to the kennels. :)) Hoping he will have a good nights sleep. Xxx It was good to see Alan and Belle today. We all knew and understood how he was feeling after saying goodbye to his beloved Paddy yesterday. Xxx We had lots of help to walk the dogs today, thanks so much to everyone. It was great to see them all go out and enjoy the sunshine. :)) Xxx Lucy came to see us today! Xxx As you can see from the fab new photos of a lot of the dogs, she brought her camera with her! Thanks so much Lucy. :)) Xxx We also had a visit from our good friends Tash and John. They very kindly dropped off some items for our upcoming Easter raffle. It was lovely to see them. Xxx I'm very grateful to everyone for looking after the kennels whilst I did the vet runs today! :)) Xxx We have two new arrivals due tomorrow...two little girls. :)) Xxx

Tomorrow is "baby Sam's" 5th birthday. I've just been looking at his photos which are from 3 years ago and, apart from the scar which is a lot less prominent (bitten by his kennel mate before coming to kennels I believe), he looks no different! He's got no white on him at all which is unusual for a black dog of his age. Soon it'll be 3 years from when we fostered him and then his 3rd Gotcha Day. He's a funny one indeed, but aren't they all in their own special way?

Oh Paddy, I'm so sad to hear you have gone to Rainbow Bridge. I remember you so well at the kennels- always such a favourite. Last year you and our Milly were at Ruths together while we were on holiday and you both got on very well. Run free sweetheart and love and hugscto your family.

I’m so very sorry that lovely Paddy has made his way to the bridge to join his sisters. I remember meeting him years ago at a roadshow, it might have been Melbicks and he was such a lovely and unique fella. What a fantastic retirement he’s had, with lots of adventures and many happy times which we followed in his blog. A life well lived and chock full of love, which is exactly what we want for them. Run free Paddy, with legs full of renewed life. Sending virtual hugs to your hoomans too because we can imagine how they must be missing you xx

Such very sad news... Xxx Paddy was an absolute gentleman. I remember when he first arrived at Daybreaks, a very handsome lad unique because he only had one ear! Xxx We were all so happy when Alan took him home because we knew he would be loved so much and have a fabulous life. He was Alan's best friend. Xxx Thinking of you all and sending lots of love. I was so very sad hear that Padster had crossed the bridge today. He was indeed a very special boy who was loved so very much. Padster, your legs will now do what you wanted them to and I very much expect that your interest in cats and squirrels will be reignited. Paddy (Saratoga Paddy) 1st October 2008 ~ 23rd March 2022 age 13 & 5 months. It is with great sadness that Paddy has crossed over rainbow bridge today. After waiting 6 months for a home, he was adopted back in December 2014 and he enjoyed life to the full. It was thanks to dear Ele who immediately bonded with Paddy, she made sure Paddy was to be her companion. If ever I’m in need of a smile I read the comments from back then. Famous for only having one ear, he was a perfect ambassador for greyhounds, very laid back and friendly to all with not a bad bone in his body. His friendliness even extended to cats later on and during his older days even squirrels were not worth bothering about. In his last years he enjoyed the quiet country life ambling around his large garden nose in the air while his brother and sisters run around. The introduction of Belle gave him a spring in his step with a new young girl on scene in August 20. Sadly as we all know when old age comes so do health problems but as always he dealt with them as best he could with no fuss. I often joked his back legs had declared independence as he would look at them sometimes as if to say why won’t you work properly. Other issues added to his problems and falls became more frequent. It became clear that he was struggling and not happy and the decision to help him to the bridge had to be made. Dear Paddy I have so many happy memories, I just hope your legs are fit again. RIP and Run free now dear Pad and find Spritz and Ele, I’m sure they are waiting for you. Thanks for all the good times we shared, you will be missed by so many far and wide. I always enjoyed telling people how friendly you were when we met new dogs, a quality you passed onto Belle. You will be a very tough act to follow. Until we meet again xx

Lovely Joey is still waiting for someone very special to offer him a home with them. He does have health issues but as Ruth said in an earlier post his medication would be supported by Daybreaks. I was so jealous Norman got to take Alex out to the park this morning! :)) I really adore this very special boy. 🙂 We had good news from his recent trip to the vets. He had a skin scrape as we were quite worried about the amount of hair loss he has suffered whilst he has been away from the kennels. Nothing nasty was found and hopefully with a lot of tlc and Aloe Vera spray his coat will soon begin to improve. A very happy new home would work wonders for him! Xxxxxxxx
