Thanks for your kind comments Muddypaws. It was so nice to see so many other gorgeous hounds. They are all really so special. My 2 really enjoyed the day and of course all of the attention. I did have to laugh when someone said Stevie is not a dog he is a horse!!!! But such a gentle loving boy.

Charleyfarley has now started a slow & careful introduction to raw food. So far so good, no problems with his tum and he seems to be enjoying it. I didn't want to rush him and wanted to make sure he was completely settled & happy. Don't worry I have been raw feeding for years and do know what I'm doing. It has been a challenge finding food he can eat as chewing is beyond him, but we've cracked it. The dog freezer is full of Misty food & Charlie food and we're all systems go, I'll keep you posted.

Hi Dawn. Just to re-iterate the advice that Ruth gave. We always have a full set of blood tests done pre-op to check all the major organ functions ...liver, kidneys, pancreas etc. This also covers blood/sugar levels. This will cost extra....l think Manor charge about £45 for a full set of bloods....but well worth it....especially if Bess has'nt had blood tests done before. Our Davey recently had a dental, and the blood tests revealed that a couple of his kidney functions were slightly out, so we requested full IV drips, and he recovered really quickly, with virtually no bleeding. But be aware that the drips will also cost extra...about £70 I think ?? Manor Vets only use the new, lighter anaesthetics for all breeds of dogs, including greys. Davey's dental cost £400...that was for 7 extractions, scale & polish...blood tests...IV drips...pain killers & antibiotics. A little bit pricey...but they do a great job...and take so much care. l know you go there anyway...but l can't recommend them highly enough.XXX

Hi bess&belle'smum - all vets should be aware that greyhounds need a special anaesthetic and it is advised to have fluids before, during and after their operations as it helps to flush their organs prior to their operation and helps hydration and recovery post op. Please give me a call at the kennels if you need any more information but she definitely will lose a couple of the molars and possibly the pre-molars also. Ruth x

Hello I am looking for a single bowl raised feeder, do the kennels have these?. So far, I have tried many places but cannot find one. If the kennels have them I would rather buy from you. Thanks.

Unfortunately my girl has got to have some of her teeth taken out. Has anybody got any advice about anaesthetic and greyhounds as I know we have have to be a bit careful about the amount they have etc. Thanks.

  • Annie

    I’m Homed

Pretty little Annie joined us at Pets at Home Stratford today, together with her handsome kennel mate, Jet. They made a wonderful couple, and were very well behaved. Annie was sweet and friendly towards everyone and happy to be around her greyhound friends. She was gently curious of other breeds and soon became used to seeing them. On the way back to the car we walked past a yorkshire terrier; she just glanced and then looked away - good girl. She drew much attention from the shoppers and enjoyed all the fuss. She really is a little bundle of 'lovelyness' and will no doubt make a loving, loyal companion. Thank you Annie - you are a delight. xxxx

  • Jet

    I’m Homed

Beautiful Jet accompanied his pretty little kennel mate Annie to Pets at Home in Stratford today and was brilliant. With tail wagging he jumped straight into the car and travelled well with Annie. Throughout the day his behaviour was perfect. A happy, relaxed boy who took everything in his stride, was polite with his adoring public and calm with other breeds and small dogs. He posed 'regally' for a photo with Steve, Sue and Scott when they collected a cheque at Pets at Home (see 'Thank You Pets at Home'). I think you will agree that he is a very handsome greyhound; and with his beautiful nature I'm sure he won't be waiting long for his forever home. Thank you Jet - you were a joy to be with. xxxx
