    I’m Homed

Paddy has today paid a visit for the first time to Brueton Park. He is a very happy friendly lad who only arrived at Daybreaks on Saturday after sadly sustaining a broken hock. While walking in the park although the injury has healed well he does give the odd hop which is a habit greyhounds often have after having a plastered leg whilst recovering. After time this habit almost always ceases. He met other breeds and although a little cautious at first with this new experience soon adapted and showed no reaction whatsoever. He met a family with their children and loved the fuss they gave him. He is definitely going to be a fantastic addition to whichever family home arrives for him hopefully in the very near future.

Our lovely lad Buick has sadly had to wear a cone when he is in his kennel for the last couple of days. He has been interfering with his neutering op wound and made it very sore! Poor lad. Hoping all will heal up quickly so he won't need his cone...he looked very down in the dumps today. Lots of love to him. Xxx

Paddy is a very affectionate boy. He did his short walk beautifully on the lead and went back into his kennel with absolutely no hesitation. Lovely boy. Lots of kisses. Xxx

Lots of love to this gorgeous girl. She is very laid back (unless there is a cat in the room). She did bark at the chickens but stopped immediately she was asked to, I think she preferred the cuddle that was offered instead. She is very pretty and seems to learn quite quickly. Wishing her very short stay. Huge cuddles xxxx

Buick came with me on a group outing to Elmdon Park today. We were joined by Joe, Mikey and Johny as well and the handsome pack caused a bit of a stir in the park. They had quite a few admirers! Buick was a good boy. He met several breeds and behaved very well. He is keen to say hello, but can forget what a big boy he is to smaller dogs! If the dogs are a bit further away and running around, he wants to join in with the fun. The poor chap needs to remember that he's on a lead though! He's a very good looking boy with a lovely soft, thick coat. Hopefully he won't have to wait too long for his sofa xx

We are appealing for a special long term foster home for this boy. He is a lovely loyal boy who would suit being an only dog or ok with a submissive dog. He walks nicely on the lead. He sleeps through the night and is doing well with house training but because he is drinking more than average he needs more opportunities for going out. He travels well and is inquisitive! Blood tests have unfortunately shown kidney problems so he will be on long term medication which Daybreaks will cover. If you think you could help please give me a call. 0121 782 7702.

  • Caesar

    I’m a Sponsor Dog

I am not sure where to begin today. Caesar has had an eventful time over the last 6 weeks. Lets start with just some good news. As Caesar is doing so well, together with Daybreaks we discussed the vaccination challenge. When his vaccination was due we just had the bad news that the treatment is not working and we did not vaccinate Caesar. I asked the Fivelands vet what their view was, and it was agreed that as he is doing so well, best to get him vaccinated. He has now started the vaccination process again, which is brilliant. We also had quite a number of outdoor adventures. Walking through woodlands they had not been before. We went to Woodgate Valley Country Park, this was quite challenging for them as there were many dogs of lead with little control. The boys did brilliantly and did not respond that much. Caesar loves being in the car so we had a number of driving adventures including to Birmingham and most recently to Nuneaton. Caesar was very keen on trying to chase pigeons in Nuneaton town centre. Again, both Caesar and Barney were very well behaved and did me proud. As I am an instructor at the Nuneaton Dog training club, we had an instructor’s morning. I used that opportunity to allow Caesar and Barney to meet and engage with other dog breeds. This was a success. The hard work I put in is starting to pay off. Barney even had a good smell and sniff of a couple of dogs. Whilst Caesar also did very well, but he was to fixated to allow him to smell other dogs. But no lunging or barking so they really made me so proud. Recently, Caesar and Barney took part in a talk at a school in Coventry. They both did well and were very calm. Allowed the children to stroke them and handle them. With so many children around, it was a bit stressful for them and when we returned, I did not hear them as they just slept. The next day they got a bone each for their great job. Fingers crossed that he continues to do so well and that internally there is not much going on either. I just realised he has passed the 6 months’ time frame of his last 6 to 9 months prognoses.

  • Daybreaks Diary!

    I’m Homed

It wasn't a very nice morning...very cold and wet! Roxy's new Dad arrived to take her home in torrential rain. She was such a good girl waiting patiently while we completed the paper work and I'm sure she will live up to her new name and bring some early summer warmth and sunshine to her new home. :))) Thanks so much to our intrepid volunteers this morning who got soaked going for a walk! Thankfully the sun made an appearance and everyone enjoyed the afternoon walks in the dry. :)) We had two new arrivals this afternoon, Pretty Missy and handsome Paddy. Xxx Thanks so much to Jez and Sam who helped me to bath and carry out health checks on our new arrivals and also fed all of the residents this afternoon. Hoping Spring is just around the corner!! :)))) Xxx
