The weather was grotty today! Cold and very wet! First thing this morning Richard and I took Buick to the Vets for his Neutering operation. Joey also had an appointment with the vet. Sadly he has a few health issues at present and went for Blood and urine tests. Our friend Cath collected him from the Vets this afternoon and is kindly going to Foster him for us for a while. Many thanks to Declan who was given the job of obtaining Joey's urine sample! Xxx Buick's op went well and Richard picked him up this afternoon. Buick loves his food and he had a good appetite when he got back this afternoon. He certainly enjoyed his dinner. :)) Despite the rain this morning all the dogs went out for a short walk. The volunteers had to abandon the walk along Old Damson Lane as it was flooded! It was much brighter this afternoon and the sun made a brief appearance. :)) Thank you so much to everyone for all your help today. :)) Xx We left everyone tucked up in their kennels tonight with heaters on and a Dentastix. :)) We have nearly used up our supply of Sardines and Pilchards for our boys and girls...so if you are popping into the kennels and can spare a tin or two, we would be very grateful. :)) Thanks so much. Xxx

    I’m Homed

Hi loveheart! We have had a labrador purely because of mia been so young and we were due to see 'diesel' just before we lost my beautiful boy in the hope it may give jet a new lease of life, but he sadly passed away before diesel was old enough to come. We are due our second baby in April so want to get that here safe and sound god willing, but my heart aches (and always will do) for jet and I know I desperately need another grey to help me grieve properly. Greys are definitely 'my breed!' We have discussed that we think diesel needs a friend as adores other dogs so the answer is yes, I really do want another grey in a few months when new baby is here etc and I have time to concentrate. I've had my head turned a few times recently by a few of the black boys (Mikey mainly as I think his personality would suit our active life perfectly) but like I say time isn't quite right just yet. There is still not an hour in the day that goes by without me thinking of my boy and still feel so cheated at his early passing but I ask him every night to guide me and I believe he will send me the right grey when it's the right time. He sent us another pony over Christmas...don't ask lol! Xxx

    I’m Homed

Holly had a long drive time home because we got stuck in traffic due to an accident. She was a good girl and there were only a few grumbles with Kin and Olive Everything was new to her at ours but she soon settled although her rocketing up the stairs 3 or 4 times in the night was a shock to the system. Monday was much better and she enjoyed her walks. She stayed down stairs all night on Monday with just a few wake up calls for a wee. She loves her food and eats it at full pelt but an upturned cup in her bowl is helping to slow her a little. So far, so good x

It was a better day today and didn't rain too much. 🙂 Everyone enjoyed morning and afternoon walks. Xxx It was great to have our lovely volunteer Yvonne back after being on holiday last week. :)) We did tell her she will have to ask the Residents permission if she wants anymore time off! :))) It was brilliant to see Polly and Roxy were reserved yesterday. :)) Hoping our gorgeous boys Joey, Buick and Johnny and our lovely Bella will soon find their forever homes too. Xxx Thanks so much to everyone who helped out at the kennels today. Xxx

Jet lucy I was wondering if you have met another soulmate yet like your beloved Jet. There are so many lovely black boys coming to the kennels. I know from experience like so many of the dedicated Grey owners that it sometimes takes a long time to even think about giving a forever home to another hound and I tried to hold out after we lost our sweet girl Nina, but Steve (Warrior) looked so sad on his bed and he seemed to be indifferent to Fat neck Fin (all the girlies had growled at him lol) that we decided to foster him, and then soon became FFPs. Finn is very tolerant of Steve and they now lie head to head in their beds like old mates. We still love and miss our girl, but I know she is waiting on the other side of Rainbow Bridge along with our other 4 girls and boys sure she will be trying to be first out of the traps. lol, what a race that will be !!! They are never far from our thoughts.xxx

What a horrible, miserable cold and wet day it was. Thankfully it was made brighter by the reservations of Polly and Roxy. Holly came back to the kennels due to a family illness but was going back out of the kennels within a short time of arrival on a foster basis to see if she gets on with the other greyhounds in the family. We have several homings booked for this week, so again it will be very busy. It was very hectic this morning, people queuing for viewings and sand run. Lorna was kept very busy with pamper sessions and nail clipping. This afternoon was a little quieter but still busy. Many thanks to everyone for their help today, this morning everyone got wet and cold on the walks. This afternoon neither the dogs or volunteers wanted to venture out in the rain again, so the dogs all had time out in the feeding runs. They are all warm dry and have full tummies and are all tucked up for the night. As always, stay safe and well everyone.

Sadly Holly was returned today due to an illness in the family. The good news is she has been taken out on foster and will hopefully have a greyhound brother and sister to live with if all goes well.

Polly is a very happy little girl! She is always plesssed to see you and despite her petite size she is a pocket rocket and certainly lets you know she is ready for her breakfast and dinner. She does love a cuddle too! Hope her forever home soon comes along. Xxx

It was a busy start to the day. Pops started his journey to France...he had his bags packed and went off with lots of new gear to wear. :)) It was really lovely to see him before he left. Lots of love to him. Xxx Sophie's new family came to see her again, she happily went off for a nice long walk with them and her new doggy sister. They get on great together. She will be hopefully going home next week. :)) Xxx We had a lovely visit from ex Daybreaks residents Ringo and Lady. They looked great! Brilliant to see them and their family. Xxx We also saw recently homed Timmy and his sister Bea. They arrived in style in their very own black cab! They both looked very happy and are settling well into their new home. Their Dad said Bea is definitely in charge. Xxx Ruth had to leave early this afternoon to go to a meeting. I am so grateful to Shirley, Richard, Paul and Brooke for their help with feeding the dogs and tidying up. :)) Thank you. Xxx Many thanks to all our walkers and to Angie and Michael for opening up and feeding everyone this morning! It would not be possible to run the kennels without the help of all our hardworking volunteers...Xxx :))
