A cold and busy day today. Thanks to everyone for their help, especially Carol and Gloria who completely blitzed the treatment room, they did a fantastic job. It was lovely to have our Duke of Edinburgh students back. Big thanks to Liz for taking Mikey out for a few hours, he even visited Mountain Warehouse and went in the lift!! He is such a lovely boy, we really wish someone would offer him his forever home. Joey went out on foster this morning to give him a break from the kennels, he has the company of another greyhound to show him the home life ropes. Jess was reserved this afternoon, she is going out for the weekend next week and will hopefully be signed up if all goes well. There were lots of bookings for the sand run despite it being so cold, at least it was drier than yesterday. The inmates are all tucked up and warm, so I will be heading home shortly to see my four and cook them a celebratory dinner as it is Max's (Gummers 6th gotcha day). Take care and stay well.

We opened up a bit earlier this morning to make sure Mikey had had his breakfast, and washed his face and paws in readiness for his big adventure with Aunty Ruth at training class! Apparently he was a very good boy, and picked things up quickly. We did think this would be the case, and that he would benefit from having his mind occupied. Well done Mikey.x Beautiful Cassie had somehow managed to wriggle herself around during the night and was wearing her fleece coat like a skirt round her bum!! She is such a sweetheart, and very patiently let me untangle her! New boy Brandy had also suffered a wardrobe malfunction - as he had managed to completely disrobe himself of both his fleece coat and neck warmer!! All our lovely boys & girls have such individual personalities - there will be just the right home for each of them out there somewhere, keeping fingers crossed it happens soon. xxx

Big happy fourth birthday to our super Belle. It was lovely how quickly she made herself at home. A quick morning zoomie then breakfast then a 2 hour snooze in typical greyhound style. She loves playtime with best friend Ruby but most of all she loves her dinner. In fact Belle loves everything and everyone, people children and dogs of all shapes and sizes. All are greeted with the same happy pointy nose and tail wag xx

Not much I can add to Ruth's post - that was indeed a crazy, busy day, but I must confess to having enjoyed myself - it's great to have inmates back in residence. The reports from our festive fosterers are nothing but positive , and have given great insight into the characters of the boys & girls - so lets hope that we can get them out into forever homes soonest. Between Chase, yesterday's new boy Joey & todays two lovelies - the students seem to have have spent the day in the bath!!! I sorted all the very generous donations of food & treats that we have received over the festive period into date order, and have rearranged the dog kitchen to accommodate everything so it's used in order. It was another cold day, but at least we didn't get any white stuff thank goodness!! The boys & girls have been left this evening all tucked up in their fleeces, with underbed heating and wall heaters on in the blocks - I think I may move in!! The diary looks busy again tomorrow, with viewings booked so keep everything crossed. I shall raise a glass or two later on to wish for a red or green sign by Monday. Have a good weekend, stay warm & stay safe. Cheers! Angie xx

    I’m Homed

What a busy and fabulous day we are having! Wednesday was also very busy so apologies for no update and yesterday we had the blood bank in. We had Pod (small dog, big attitude) come up with Cath, one of our volunteers and we did a morning of socialisation training. All of our current inmates - Mikey, Jess, Cassie, Joe and Joey were absolutely brilliant. Jo and Dave went out to collect Chase, a boy that was homed direct from a trainer but sadly his owner had passed away. Chase is unfortunately very keen with smaller breeds (he did live with a greyhound and was great) and with him having lived in a home we are quite anxious to find him a new home asap. He lived with another greyhound and is just a very happy boy. We then had two gorgeous new arrivals - Brandy and Bella. Their trainer told us they love being with each other so tonight they are going to be kenneled together so their 'house move' is not so stressful and we will work on separating them over the next few days. I am sure Angie will give her side of the story in her update later! Looking forward to taking Mikey to training tomorrow!
