Mikey has had a lovley Birthday! Katarina and her family came this morning and whisked him away for a day out in Stratford! :)) On his rerun to the kennels, he had the most delicious Birthday cake to look forward to. Not any old cake but one hand made by Katrina; minced beef, oats and cheese cake with banana and peanut butter icing! It looked wonderful! Mikey shared it with all the current Daybreaks residents and my Skip had some too! They all loved it! Thanks so much to Katarina, Liljana, Jackie and Ned for making his Birthday very special. :)) He had Birthday cards too. Shirley, he did enjoy his biscuits. :)) Have just checked the cameras and he is fast asleep! Bless him. Xxx

Took mikey out today to Stratford as a birthday treat. He was so happy to see us and as usual jumped straight into the car and settled immediately. Once there, we had a walk along the river bank where he said hello to the geese and swans and then we went browsing around Stratford and the outdoor market. He met many different breeds of dogs and was happy around all of them- one even growled at him and he was unfazed and continued to be his happy self. It was fairly busy with people and he drew lots of attention with many comments on how well behaved he was. He fell asleep in the car on the way back as he had been strolling around for a couple of hours. Once back at the kennels he was excited to eat his birthday cake, which was shared with the other dogs. He is such a lovely and well behaved boy- if our circumstances were different we would have him in a flash! xxx

Our foster boy, Joey, was neutered yesterday, poor boy. He felt sorry for himself yesterday when he came back. But he is much better today. He has been “helping” with the housework. Joey in the way when cleaning? Joey in the way when putting the food shopping away? Of course not!! ???? He is not bothered with noise, he has now heard what a vacuum cleaner or a hairdryer sound like and he is perfectly fine with any noise. He has also understood who sofas were created for. ???? In just a week, this lovely boy has settled down so well! He just needs to find his forever home.

Daybreaks Diary!

It's been another cold day today, even the sunshine this morning didn't help, and it feels really damp & chilly now. As the students have started afternoon feeding I have taken the opportunity to have a sit down and update on a busy day. I brought in chicken for the residents breakfasts today as it was a special day - Mr Mikey's birthday (well, nearly!!!) After morning walks were done, we gave Mikey an early birthday party in the feeding run. He is a real favourite with our Friday students, and they had brought him a present, treats for him and his pals, and Liberty had done a fabulous drawing of him which is now hanging outside his kennel. Mid morning then saw the arrival of 2 more new Daybreakers - brother and sister Timmy and Beeswing. They are so young, not yet 2, and were understandably a bit bemused at finding themselves somewhere new with strange sights & sounds - here's hoping they have a good first night and start to settle in soon. x I met the lovely Sophie - I had to untangle her from her coat this morning as she had managed to get her front leg through the neck!! She thought this was a great fun game, and was not very cooperative!!! x Bella is doing well after her spey - she is so sweet and is desperate to play, but a few more days post-op recovery yet sweetheart! x The sand run was very popular again, and Lorna was kept busy with pampers. The boys & girls will be tucked up shortly with the underbed heating on, and we will put the wall heaters on before we leave to keep everyone warm & snug. Incredibly it's the weekend again - where does the time go?? The diary looks fairly busy again so fingers crossed for some red signs by Monday. I shall raise a glass later to toast our boys & girls - may forever homes soon be theirs. Whatever you are up to this weekend, stay warm and safe. Cheers! Angie xx
