I have just received a call to tell me Mikey’s new home has fallen through. Although gutted for him I have to believe in fate. The right home is out there and it means we get to play with and cuddle him a bit longer!

    I’m Homed

Welcome to a a new year at Daybreaks and we are starting the year off with the best news ever…. Mikey, our longest stayer, has finally been offered a forever home and he is off to start his new life on Tuesday! Little Mollie came with me and she enjoyed pottering around the kennels. She is such a little treasure. I would like to say a big thank you to all those who have fostered over Christmas - to open your home to a hound is a truly wonderful gift. Today I was joined by Denise, Dave and Lynne and we we had a busy day clearing away the Christmas decorations and attacking paperwork. Even with no dogs on site, we are kept busy. We are looking forward to the foster dogs coming back and all the new arrivals and we will keep you posted x

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Our lovely Hope is 12 today (ish). She came from Ireland where she had been raced in unrecorded races and the only info that came with her was that her racing name was Twilight and she was 2 on about 2nd Jan. So that was 10 years ago and she’s been part of our family for nearly all that time. She’s still a bit nervous on walks she doesn’t know and where there are any people, but she is so much more confident than when we first had her when she was terrified of new people and the slightest noise. She is now a princess, and known to friends as Beyoncé or Lady Downton. We love her to the moon and back and then to eternity. Happy birthday beautiful xxxxxx

    I’m Homed

Michael & I would like to wish all our Daybreaks friends & supporters a very Happy New Year. Here's hoping that as we move forward into 2022, the Covid situation improves allowing us to get our fundraising activities back on track. We have tentatively arranged a couple of events already (watch this space) - and will keeping an eye on things, ready to leap into action if we can! Thankyou so much for your support during what has been another difficult year - we are so very grateful. We are looking forward to welcoming our foster boys & girls back next week (though hopefully not all of them!!!), and welcoming some new arrivals off the ever growing waiting list. I shall of course be raising a glass or two later on to welcome 2022, and wish for a successful new year for Daybreaks - onward & upward we go. Stay safe one & all - Cheers!! Angie xxx

    I’m Homed

Just a quick update on Jess. She is very much more settled now. We can actually walk around without her following us everywhere. Jess now goes up and down the stairs a lot better than she did when we first had her but she is still watched (unless she creeps out of the living room and runs up quick before we can stop her!!) She seems to have a morning routine of getting up at about 7.30 to be let out to go to the toilet. She will go back to bed if you’re not ready to get up though. We have never left her or Boots alone at bedtime as they sleep on a bed with one of the family members, so I can’t comment on what she would be like being left elsewhere whilst we go to bed. When out on walks she is very inquisitive of people and stops to see what they’re doing. She loves it if they come and give her fuss. She really is coming along great.

    I’m Homed

Despite it being Christmas and all the current inmates out to foster, I have been kept busy - especially on the phone! Christmas Day and Boxing Day I came in to sort the chickens and I'm back again today and got to see Bea and her owners who have been having a few problems with her so I checked her over and gave some advice. On Monday, we had Molly dropped off at our house - she had been in a home 3 years - homed direct by a trainer and her owners felt she needed a new home. She is an absolute poppet! On Tuesday I went over to see Flower and made her adoption official - she is now called Maddie and they did message me the following day to ask if I could tear up the adoption papers as she had been up on their window sill and broken ornaments and torn two blinds down (eek!). Wednesday I was booked to go and see Nico but this has been arranged for the New Year so instead we took Mollie on a trip to my Aunties and she met the cat! As I was driving, Andy was 'secretary' for the calls that day! I have been checking in constantly on all our foster dogs and they are all doing well and are starting to arrive back on Monday. Between myself, Denise, Kate and Jo we have been coming in daily to sort our resident hens and say hello to Bob. The sand run has been in constant use still which i great. I hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas and I look forward to a New Year starting with lots of exciting things planned for the kennels. I am extremely grateful to everyone who has sent donations - I have written to everyone to thank but there have been quite a few anonymous ones so I would like to say thank you - I am truly grateful for your support. Best wishes to everyone from myself and Andy and Tiggy Momma and Tony xxx

Thanks Shani it has been difficult, especially with two others who have not been too well. Really miss her, she was very often overlooked by people as she was a small black girl and not particularly 'pretty' (she was beautiful to us) a returnee to the kennels, we had ner for almost 5 years. Xx

Rosie had a very settled first night in her new home. She was very happy to see us this morning, it was so lovely to see her waggy tail. She met a few dogs yesterday on her walk and was not fussed at all. We will keep you informed of how she is getting on.

It's been a year since I lost my beautiful Willow Pillow. I lit a candle for her today, I have just blown it out at the time of her crossing Rainbow bridge. I miss her so very much, she was an amazing girl. Keep running fast and free with your brothers and sisters and all of our beloved hounds and friends who have recently passed. Xxx
