    I’m a Sponsor Dog

Just a little update on Caesar. He had his first Christmas with us and he got spoiled of course. He had big bones to go through and his own special Christmas meal and treats. It was an exciting time as we had visitors and he always greet them so happily it is funny to watch. New year was also good and we actually had little fireworks going of which made it easier for him. Although he is never all that fused about noise. What I am really pleased about is that he has surpassed his first prognosis of 6 to 9 months. Hopefully, he will beat the last prognosis given to him at the end of August and he will have an other Christmas with us. So far he is doing well and you simply would not say he has cancer. His coat remains beautiful, we sometimes call him Black Beauty. Caesar is also making progress with his training. When I first had him he could be quite re-active to other dog breeds. I have him now so far that he gets animated, but he is no longer lunging all the time at dogs. He listens better and is even responding the visual ques rather then verbal instructions. He is doing well, he seems happy and looks well. Long may he continue to ward off the cancer progression and he will remain healthy. HAPPY and HEALTHY NEW YEAR to you all, from Caesar, Barney and the Humans.

Great to donate items from my partner, myself and my work place (CBS Arena, Coventry) hope everything is useful. Can't wait to start helping out even more in the coming weeks!! Be glad to see some dogs soon as they were all with wonderful foster carers. Well done to the team and fosters.

A warm welcome back to Daybreaks to the boys & girls that have spent Christmas out in a foster home - huge thanks to our Festive Fosterers. x It has been great to read all the lovely posts. They have all received glowing reports - and the information received will be invaluable to us as we seek forever homes for them all. As great as Daybreaks kennels are, you can't beat time out in the real world and a real home. xxx

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Cassie is back at Daybreaks after having a lovely break for Christmas with her foster family. She joined in all of the festivities! Xx Cassie generally walks well on the lead but can be quite strong when she gets excited or visits somewhere new. She is OK with larger dogs but finds smaller dogs quite a distraction. She has calmed down a lot and they feel with training this would improve greatly. She has been great with the family's children and all those she has met over the holiday period. 🙂 She is very placid with them. She does enjoy her food and eats well. 🙂 She got on well with the other Greyhound in the family. Although they both sometimes wanted the same bed! She was also a little bossy occasionally but not aggressive...a typical girl Greyhound!! She slept downstairs with the other Greyhound. She was a little unsure for the first few nights but soon settled down. She didn't attempt to go up the stairs. She has a couple of wee accidents to begin with but once a routine was established all was fine. She and the other Greyhound were left on their own on several occasions with no issues. 🙂 She loves going out in the car but at present still needs help getting in and out of the car. Sure she would soon get used to it. We are very grateful to Cassie's foster family for giving her a great Christmas holiday. They say she is a lovely girl, eager to learn and desperate to please. She knows her name, has excellent recall and responds to the touch command. 🙂 They think she will make a wonderful pet. Xxx

    I’m Homed

Joe had a lovely Christmas with his foster family, they say he is an all round great dog - he is very loving and likes to lie at your feet or next to you on the sofa. They say he still needs to learn some boundaries about personal space - he does like to lick your face! He generally walked well on the lead, not aggressive but very interested in smaller dogs and particularly those off lead. Because he is a big, boisterous lad, he would probably be better in a home with either older children or no children. He got on well with the two other greyhounds in the family - Joe soon found his place in the pack and was happy to fall in with their routines. Joe is very food orientated and will eat his food quickly. The family feel he needs help and training to understand that all food is not his. Joe is able to go up and down stairs and slept happily on his own bed in their bedroom. He was left with the other two hounds on several occasions with no problems. They feel he would be OK to live with other greyhounds. He travels well in the car and is the perfect passenger. The family say he would make a great pet, he is a fast learner but has one bad habit - trying to drink out of the toilet! xxx

Mixed feelings seeing Mikey back at the kennels yesterday. He is such a handsome friendly lovable boy with such a lot of potential, so it was nice to have cuddles with him but also sad that his forever home hasn't materialised yet.

    I’m Homed

Our Mikey had a lovely Christmas in his foster home, many thanks to his foster family for giving him a great time. He shared the home with two other greyhounds and got on well with them, although he did like to be in charge. He was very good on the lead, fine with meeting people and other dogs both small and large. House training was no problem. He soon picked up the routine of the other two greyhounds. Mikey loves his food, even if he sometimes eats it a little too quickly! He was left with the other two greyhounds a couple of times during his stay with no problems. He slept upstairs but wasn't keen on sharing bedspace with the other hounds. Mikey's foster family feel he would be happier as an only dog or with a female greyhound companion. They would have loved to have kept him if circumstances had been different.

    I’m Homed

Jess had a lovely time in her foster home, thank you so much to Angie and her family for giving her a great Christmas. She has been a good girl during her stay with them. She walks well on the lead, is very interested in her surroundings, she loves to meet people and seems to be OK with larger breeds. There has been no problem with house training and she is happy to go out into the garden. She loves her food (and yours if she can get it), so would need supervising in the kitchen. She got on well with Boots, the other greyhound in the family, and was happy being left with him on several occasions. The family feel she would also be fine as an only dog. She slept through the night, upstairs with no problems. She happily gets in and out of the car and travels well. The family feel she would make a wonderful pet. xxx

    I’m Homed

We were back at the kennels this morning to welcome back Jess, Mikey and Joe. We had great reports for them all from their foster families. We are so grateful to everyone for giving them a chance to have a few days away from kennel life. All the extra information we have about them will help us find the right homes for them. Xxx Thank you so much to Yvonne, Myra and Rosie for all their help today. Even though we only had three dogs at the kennels, we had lots of visitors! :)) Jess popped in to bring in donations of bedding and ended up trimming nails! :)) Including my little Lyra...she is not happy when I do them!! Thanks Jess. :)) Xxx Hoping 2022 will be a good year for all Greyhounds looking for their forever homes! Especially our lovely lad Mikey!! Xxx

    I’m Homed

Hello everyone! We went to see Wales this weekend. I don’t know what the hoomans meant but I definitely didn’t see any! I looked! Auntie Klaire and Florence was there though. We were in the car for sooooo long! We finally arrived at Uncle Ian and Uncle Michael’s house where we stayed for 2 nights! I had a greyt time. Florence and I did bed swaps and had loads of fuss/ treats. The little holiday rooms were lovely! I was a very good boy. Yesterday we all went to Aunite Klaire’s bungalow and spent most of the afternoon there. Me and Florence both got our own dinners YUM! There were cats there! I was taken to see them very cautiously with them in a room and me in the hallway. I was attached to a lead! Apparently I’m trainable and was very good. I didn’t pull or anything we just had a staring contest. Anyway last night was great I slept all night but at around 7:30 a huge bang and lightning kept happening. I was scared and shaking. It woke the hoomans up and they turned the light on. I went straight on the bed for comfort with one Hooman each side. Scary but it’s all over now, phew! Happy New Year Lubs Monty Xx
