Jess
I’m Homed
We’ve had Jess on foster now for 10/11 days. She is an amazing girl. She has settled really well. She has travelled in the car very well, with a couple of longer journeys in the first few days. We have an mpv and she has to jump in the boot but does so without a problem. Jess walks on her lead brilliantly, there is no pulling she just walks at your side most of the time, on the odd occasion she ambles about a bit. When she has seen other dogs (of any size) or cats she just looks at them, she has not made any attempt to bark or pull. This is amazing as Boots (our own grey) is, at this point, jumping around in circles, barking and pulling on his lead. In the house, Jess was like a shadow at first following whoever was walking around and poking her head between their legs. She will settle down a lot more now and lies on the sofa either with Boots or by herself or on the rug on the floor. When she does lie down, she tends to “flop” quite heavily but she’s fine. However, once she hears something she is straight there to investigate. When I’m in the kitchen she very often walks with her head “attached” to the top of my leg like there’s an invisible magnet there! Lol! She can go up and down stairs but, like has been said before, she is best to be watched at the moment doing this. We have had no problems with this though. Jess has been left with Boots for a couple of hours and they have both been fine with this. Jess will jump on the back of the sofa to watch me go. She will do this regardless of whoever may be sitting or lying on the sofa!! (No concept of personal space! Lol!) Jess can be a little stubborn at times, leading my children to believe she doesn’t know her name or understand what she is being told. But there is no doubt that she does know her name and does know what you’re saying, she just chooses to ignore you. I’ve told the children she’s no different to them!!! Jess loves playing with toys especially squeaky ones. She does rip them quick but Boots loves this as he doesn’t rip them but once Jess has he loves to get the stuffing out - a great double act! Jess is totally toilet trained and has had no accidents at all in the house. Don’t let Jess’s size deter you if you are looking to rehome a grey as she really is a gentle, big girl. xx

Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
I’m not sure what happened to Monday and Tuesday but it has been absolutely hectic at Daybreaks! I am sure you can see from all the reserved, rehomed and foster signs, the incredible amount of work going on. Last night I collected Poppy from the vets following spey and brought her home with me. Her new owners came over to visit her and she has had a very settled night. We had great fun with Enzo, Lisa B’s dog so we could socialise our current inmates, along with a Jack Russell and Will found himself reserved because of this! Please keep everything crossed for Mikey… he has a second viewing today! I will keep you posted x

How fabulous to see all the lovely red & green signs appearing for our boys and girls. Our residents have a special Christmas message for you:- As stars began to twinkle in the dark and moonlit sky We snuggled down to go to sleep, at least we had to try We all were so excited and so sleep was far away We strained our ears to listen for the sound of Santa's sleigh We haven't wished for toys or treats or a nice big juicy bone We've wished for something special - our own forever home We crossed our paws and hoped Santa had known just what to do To find our caring Mums & Dads - some people just like you We love our time at Daybreaks, it's safe and warm and fun But we'll be just so much happier when our new life has begun We won't be any trouble once we know our way around With time and love we'll soon become a very happy hound We're waiting now for morning when the doors will open wide And we'll look out of our kennels to see whose there outside We've been good boys & girls and so we hope our wish comes true Will you be waiting by our kennel to take us home with you? xx

Happy 2nd gotcha day Flo. 2 whole years since we first bought you home. Thanks to Ruth & Kate who made it possible & for entrusting Flo to us. We like to think were going a good job looking after her but I'm sure she's writing a letter to Aunty Ruth complaining about having her teeth brushed every day.

As Jo said, I took Mikey to the park yesterday. We were out for 3 hours with a quick stop at my house for a drink (which he turned his nose up at) and some gravy bones (which he didn't turn his nose up at!). He is truly delightful and no trouble to take out. Once again, he was brilliant with other dogs in the park and an excellent ambassador for the breed. I really enjoyed my time with him xx

Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
It started off as a chilly day and progressed into a bitterly cold day! Thanks to everyone for their help today, all dogs had morning and afternoon walks, massive thanks to Liz for taking Mikey out for a three hour walk, he still wasn't worn out! Lovely Boss man had a viewing and was introduced to his soon to be brother, this came in the shape of Bear, a Saint Bernard, they were great together, for those who want to cuddle Boss before he goes home you will need to do this before 11.00 am on Wednesday. Thanks to those that came in with donations, it is very much appreciated. We left tonight with the residents tucked up with cosy fleeces and their heating on, I'm still trying to get warm. Stay safe and well everyone. X
