    I’m Homed

Woody has been staying with us since Monday. He was understandably unsettled on Monday night but within a day or two, he settled well. He prefers staying upstairs to lie down, but comes downstairs regularly for a fuss or to see what’s going on. He gives a wonderful welcome home if we’ve been out - a very waggy tail indeed. He loves his walks but is a bit nervous of people walking past. He hasn’t met many other dogs yet when we’ve been out so we’ll wait to see how that goes. He is clean in the house and sleeps well at night and he loves his food. He’s a really lovely boy x

    I’m Homed

We were all geared up for a busy day today - which didn't materialize, so another early post from me as the kennels winds down for the day. It was blooming wet & blooming cold today - we did manage to sandwich the walks between the monsoon downpours, but crikey it did come down at times - there were rivers running and we had to barricade the bottom block doors to keep it out!!! The lovely Quivers arrived this morning - what a friendly, lively little girl she is. Hope she has a good first night and settles in soon. Our other new arrivals have been postponed for a couple of days. Unsurprisingly it was very quiet for visitors today, so we managed to get all the recent bedding donations sorted and put away. Well, another weekend is upon us - and lets hope the weather forecast is wrong!!! The boys & girls are all tucked up tonight with their fleece coats, underbed heating and heaters on in the blocks - I think I may stay here as it is very cosy!! A drop of medicinal brandy may be on the cards later!! - raised to toast all our beautiful boys & girls, hoping all those out on foster are being good and benefiting from their time out in a home, and hoping for forever homes for everyone soon. Whatever you are up to this weekend, stay warm and enjoy. Cheers! Angie xx

So happy she's been rehomed so quickly and sad we won't get to see her on Saturday. But most importantly that she's got a new home 🙂 xx

    I’m Homed

So….I went to the kennels on Monday afternoon to put together some homing packs and as I walked in, Woody had just been returned and was looking very sad. So I brought him home to foster until he finds a new forever home. Then this afternoon I went back to the kennels to finish off the homing packs, and Jess had come back in from her foster home and was really unsettled……so I brought her home too. Hopefully she’ll have a new longer term foster home on Saturday until she gets her forever home but I’m getting worried about going in to the kennels next week to do the homing packs for the 3 new dogs who are coming in tomorrow in case I keep bringing more dogs home! I’m sure Ruth would be happy for me to do that but our 3 greys might leave home and go somewhere quieter :)) Of course I’d have them all if I could…….

    I’m Homed

This rehoming thing is so difficult sometimes , I mean we always try to make sure that Jeff is safe when we go out in the garden for a wee and keep him shut in the house and we keep him on 2 leads when we are out and the rest of the time we sleep , he never normally goes out but today he went out for a coffee with some work colleagues and apparently when he was walking back a few yards from the house he was met by a nice Policeman who had had to stop his car becuase he nearly hit a big black dog "Looked a bit like a greyhound or a big whippet" , Jeff came running in in a panic and we were just still on our bed that he sleeps in , I am seriously unsure if we are ever going to let him out again , of course it wasn't' going to be us , turns out it was the black greyhound from the house over the road and she is back home now but we just can't let him out on his own any suggestions on how to keep him safe ? Loads of love Jess and Celia xx

  • Monty (Chase)

    I’m Homed

I am definitely doing something wrong Monty when I am at work sleeps in till the wife wakes up. When it’s my day off gets me up about 5am wanting breakfast and fuss even when I let him out at normal times for toilet. When I am eating his nose is in my food and he never bothers anyone else. He even tells me when it’s time to cook dinner because he likes to watch. He is such a lovely boy and we have an amazing time with him. He has gone from a scared boy to a boy full of confidence and knows what he wants.

    I’m Homed

Jess slept well again last night. Unusually for Moe, he wanted to go in the garden about 2am so Jess trotted out to keep him company. She also did a wee and a poo and then they both went straight back to sleep again, bless them. Jess is still leaning to the left a bit so, if she is near you, it’s important not to move away too quickly because she is probably leaning on your leg. She is a little uncertain on the stairs sometimes so it’s vital to be with her. Jess is a bright little girl so she has learnt what “careful” and “gently” mean. Saying this will slow her down on the stairs and she comes down without any mishaps. Jess is a really sweet little girl who just loves to be with you and involved in whatever is going on. She is curious and interested in everything. This curiosity could lead her into danger so I would suggest it’s particularly important to be careful putting her in and out of the car and if you have to open the front door. She has not done this with us but I have seen the signs! I hope her new foster family have a lovely time with her. Jess needs patience and love and she will reward you many times over. Moe, Jon and I are going to miss her very much xxx
