Thanks to everyone for their help today. Apart from lots of bedding donations it was fairly quiet for visitors. Bella attacked the honesty box and had a good tidy up. Denise tackled the thankless task of sweeping up, no sooner are you finished it's time to start again! It became quite chilly this afternoon, the residents were tucked up with their fleeces on and the heaters on in the kennel blocks.

A good night’s sleep for dear little Jess. We went to bed about 9pm and she slept through until 7.40 when she went in the garden. Breakfast was gobbled up and, although she would like to get her nose in Moe’s food too, she does know that she is not allowed to. A gentle reminder and she just looks on while Moe eats. She does give the bowl a lick afterwards in case he has overlooked a tiny bit. Just to help with the washing up, of course. Another bit of good news is that she doesn’t only follow me round but Jon too. Then my neighbour called in and Jess was following her as well. I think it’s good news because it shows Jess is adaptable and wants to be involved in whatever is going on. I do have to chuckle every time she sticks her head through my legs. It’s like she is saying “I’m here!” She is such a sweetheart.

As just one member of the "Mikey Fan Club" I'm sure I speak for us all when I send so many good wishes to "our" boy as he embarks on a spell in a foster home - he has been in kennels far too long as is so deserving of home life. Be the good boy we know you can be sweetheart. xx

When reading about Jess, and Mikey, Barney and Caesar and all the little souls who arrive at Daybreaks to find a forever home to experience the joy of being loved and becoming part of a family for the first time, I cannot help but be reminded how important Simon's legacy fund is, to secure Daybreaks kennels for the future for them. It has a long way to go but I noticed when donating that you can make a one-off or a monthly donation, and made me think maybe if we could just do a monthly donation of even a small amount,( nothing would be too little) it will continue to grow slowly but surely and continue the hope of Simon and his lovely wife to secure the kennels for them all. I never knew him but from others memories of him and this legacy he left I am in awe of such a selfless man and so hope one day his goal will be reached. What a party Ruth will have to organize then !!!!! as if she hasn't enough to do xx

A big cuddle to our favourite boy Mikey tonight! Have absolutely everything crossed all goes well in his foster home....It was great to see him sitting next to his foster Dad in the boot of the car in his usual position, front legs folded. Waiting patiently while we packed his bag! Yvonne made sure he took his two favourite teddies with him. :)) Be a good boy sweetheart! Lots of love. Xxxxxxx

I am loving the updates from Carol and Moe on how Jess is doing. Thanks to you for fostering her, you have done so much for previous foster dogs, you really give an important insight in to these wonderful characters and their little quirks. Thank you Carol and of course Big Moe. Xx

Another busy day for Moe and Jess, lots of mooching in the garden, bottom sniffing and general happiness. Plenty of time snoozing on the sofa too and eating of course. Jess had a check up at the vet. He was pleased with her progress and also said that it will take some weeks for her to recover from the stroke which is not surprising. The site of her operation is healing nicely. She has been lying in the kitchen supervising me while I was doing some sorting out of stuff. Then Moe’s little face appeared because he likes supervising too. The two of them happily bossed me about for a bit then Jess went in the living room by herself for a little while. This is a big step for her because she is always your little shadow. Then, another first, she has just lay upside down on the sofa and stuck her legs in the air. Fingers and paws crossed that maybe she is beginning to feel just a little bit better? I do hope so.

Daybreaks Diary!

What a fabulous day! A gorgeous new arrival - Mandy - she is just so gorgeous! Sam was reserved and is going out to his new home at the beginning of December following his neutering and (trumpet roll)...... FINALLY...... our favourite boy Mikey has gone out to foster.... he sat in the back of the car as if to say - this is what I have been waiting for and it was worth the wait! He has been at Daybreaks since the beginning of July bless him. It is extremely cold but the 'kids' have their underbed heating on and I have got several layers on! Video diary will appear on our Daybreaks Chat Facebook page later x

Another good night’s sleep for Jess until 7.30 when she went in the garden. She has had her breakfast which disappeared very quickly! Jess wanted to get her nose into Moe’s breakfast too but, once told, she left him in peace to enjoy his food. When you think what this little girl has been through recently, she is doing really well and is a quick learner. She is very good at going in the garden for a wee and a poo straight after her meal. To begin with, she could not figure out how to get her back legs on the sofa but she has got that one sussed now and is snuggled up next to me. Moe’s agreed to let her on the sofa as long as it’s not the bit he is on. He is being really good with her especially when you think he is used to our total devotion:) he is wonderful.

Moe and Jess are lying on either side of me on the sofa fast asleep after a busy day of investigating things. Jess has played with one of Moe’s toys which I was so thrilled to see her do and she snaffled half a cup of tea which she was very pleased about. She has got the most amazing ears that shoot off in all directions especially when she is curious about something (most of the time). Life is one big discovery for her and she wants to know absolutely everything but in a very gentle, sweet way.

Very sadly Woody has been returned to the kennels today. He is looking for a a nice quiet home without young children or teenagers. He gets very anxious around them but not aggressive in any way. He walks lovely on the lead and gets on well with other dogs. He can be left on his own for several hours. Rosie has very kindly taken him home for a few days! :)) Thank you. 🙂 Xxx
