Thanks so much to Katarina and her family for taking Quivers out this afternoon. She really has been very down this week and needed cheering up. She loved going out and was a much happier girl when she came back. She is a super little girl, hoping she will be in her forever home very soon. Xxxx

Wishing Noa a very happy new life! It was quite dark by the time we had completed Noa's homing paperwork, so we took her homing photo in the office. It took us ages to get her to stand still! :)) Xxx

Oh bee your poorly tail. Jet used to suffer terrible and we once had to put a nappy on it to stem the bleed as we were in a hotel...you can imagine the scene! I don't know about happy tail it should be called very unhappy owner tail! Xxx

As Quivers was a little bit subdued in the kennels, we decided to take her to the park for a change of scenery. She was a little reluctant to get into the car at first, but once in settled as soon as we set off and enjoyed looking out of the window. Once we got to the park, she jumped out and was keen to go and explore. She met a few other breeds (big and small) and felt comfortable enough to go and say hello. She was happy to be around people and children and enjoyed all of the sights and sounds of the park- even a running squirrel didn’t phase her and there was no sign of a chase instinct. She walked beautifully on her lead and grew in confidence as the walk progressed. Quivers was much happier when we got back to the kennels and enjoys socialising with others. We look forward to taking her out again and we just know that she will find her forever home soon. Katarina, Jackie, Ned, Liljana xxx

The adorable Bee's kennel was a massacre sight this morning - she had managed to spray blood from her poorly tail absolutely everywhere - including the radiator on the wall outside her kennel!! What this gorgeous girlie really needs is a lovely home to give that helicopter tail plenty of space to move in!! She had to be still through another tail bathing session this morning, but the second her tail was released from the syringe - it was twirling again! She gets my cuddle today, and really hope that this treatment can help her poorly tail. xx

    I’m Homed

With a full kennels it's been a busy old day today - but thanks to the Friday Team feeding is well under way so I have grabbed the opportunity for coffee and a go on the computer!! It was a dull day, but stayed dry so all the residents enjoyed both morning and afternoon walks. I met all our lovely newbies - they are all gorgeous! I have never seen a tail quite like little Beatrice's (Bee's)!! It twirls round like a helicopter and literally never stops moving!! As Kate has already said this has led to a major case of happy tail!! It was like CSI Miami in her kennel earlier - blood spattered all up and across the walls in amazing patterns!! Ruth took her to the Vet this morning for a vaccination, and he had a look at her tail - advising us to bathe it for a minimum of 5 minutes to prevent infection. The challenge was of course, how to keep it still for that long!! The solution was a large plastic syringe with a taped up bottom, and Bee's tail fitting beautifully into the fluid down the tube before it was taped on to the tail. Of course, she had to be cuddled for the full 5 minutes to prevent the syringe flying across the feeding run!! Let's hope this does the trick for her. Preparations for Santa's visit on Sunday continued, and we hope to see lots of friends, both 2 & 4 legged, in the sand run to start off the festive season. More kind donations of bedding were received, and the sand run proved popular again. It is a great facility and is fully booked up for tomorrow! Tickets for our Grand Christmas Draw are on sale, the first prize is £500 cash very generously donated by Fivelands Vets, with the draw taking place on Christmas Eve. If you can't get into the kennels, we can take payment by phone and get the tickets in the post to you. Another weekend approaches, and its a busy one! I will raise a glass or two later toast our lovely new additions, our gorgeous existing residents, and make a wish for lots of red or green signs outside their kennels. Have a great weekend one and all - stay safe and warm, and hopefully see some of you on Sunday. Cheers! Angie x

    I’m Homed

We had a full kennels today, lots of lovely girls and boys looking for their forever homes. :)) When Sammy arrived she had to go in the back kitchen kennel, until we had a spare space for her. A very cute little lass who loves cuddles. Xxx Mikey went back out with his foster family this afternoon. He was so very happy to see them! Xxx Richard was one of Santa's little helpers today and put the carpet down in the summer house ready for Santa on Sunday. He also built a step and made handrails. I'm sure he will be on the "nice" list this Christmas. We are so grateful for everything he does for us. Many thanks to Alan and Declan for going to the warehouse today, Xxx. Thanks also to everyone who helped out today. :)) Many thanks to Sarah and Steve for bringing in three big bags of Mistletoe! It will be on sale at the kennels at the Christmas party on Sunday. :)) We have an extra resident at the kennels, a lovley Robin spends a lot of time around the kennels, he went into the Christmas shop today, obviously looking for presents for his family! :))

Yesterday was a whirlwind day! Our storage unit had developed a leak and unfortunately 90% of the donated items we had been given to raise money had become damp and mouldy! Absolutely gutting…. So we had to order a skip to clear it out 🙁 We had a little stray brought in…. She is adorable. She was bathed and settled into a kennel which meant we had a full house! Later on the evening I was out collecting some donated carpet for Santa’s grotto! I blitzed the office so apologies to Kate if she couldn’t find anything today!!! X
