Bunny
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Bunny has come to stay with us for a short while for a spot of tlc and to see if we can perk her up a bit. The last time she stayed with us she was post-op and it's like she has just picked up where she left off! She even settled in the lounge last night when she didn't manage it before, so I was really pleased. She definitely follows the lead of the other 2 - you can see her taking her cues from them on what to do, including watching Lena rolling on her back last night for a cuddle, so Bunny had a go to see what happened.... And what do you know... result...!! Again not a squeak out of Bunny (or the other 2) overnight and she's so obliging when you take her into the garden for a pit-stop. Hoping to get her out and about a bit and work out what makes her tick. I'm expecting to take her to Julie's class on Saturday morning as well. Lola and Lena can stay at home this week so at least Daisy's mum won't get talked at and harassed by Lena for treats! Linda x

Totally agree with Linda. We'd had Gent for almost a year by himself and he was fine being an 'only-child'. Then his old trainer retired Gent's brother Kite and we wondered if it would be nice to have the two brothers together. Would have been a huge mistake, they hated each other and Gent was clearly not happy. Ruth had told me to go with my gut instinct and that said definately "no". We were put off the idea for a few months and then I saw our little girl on the website. Her trainer had said she was a "nice, kind girl", so I persuaded my other half to come and see her with Gent. They walked brilliantly together and when together in the run, seemed totally fine, even a little aloof with each other. My gut instinct said they would be a good match and the rest is history. We followed Ruth's advice to the letter about how to integrate her into our established routine and have never looked back. These days, Gent and Emily are like an old married couple! We had a Citroen C4 Picasso when we first had two, but did think about extra space when it came to changing and got an estate too. My other half jokes that they now have so much space, they could play tennis in the boot, but I have noticed with Gent that he gets up and moves around the more space he has, so Emily can get trampled on every now and then. In the early days, we were known to take 2 cars on holiday, so that the seats could go down for extra space for them on a longer journey. Like Linda says, we love having two, as they are so different in their personalities and never stop making us smile. Two are very manageable with one lead in each hand, stopped walking with both leads in one hand, as I swear they were trying to plait their leads for fun! Good luck in whatever you decide. Mand x

Hi Anne. I love having 2 but it is a very personal decision. We had Lola first and she was absolutely fine on her own but we decided to get a friend for her. Just to echo what Clare said - Lola chose Lena because the dog we had originally taken a liking to on the web site turned out to be an absolute no-no for Lola. It just feels like the family is complete now. Practically, we have a large estate car (Vectra) so there is plenty of room for them both. Our other car (Ford Kuga) won't fit our 2 in the boot, so I have to have one on the back seat (I have a hammock thing so she can't fall into the footwell and a guard between the front seats to stop her climbing through). The 2 girls get on really well, so it's really about finding the right dog (male or female) to get on with your Bugsy if that's what you decide to do. What was important for me was that I could walk 2 together on my own and cope if they kicked off (ours are not cat friendly). Good luck with your deliberations. You are right to think it through in advance. Linda x

Our fella might be huge, but talk about chilled! He is SO dosile. We love having him here with us SO much. He gives the lovliest cuddles & follows us everywhere. The croc toys are definate winners & they are all sharing beautifully. Very happy woofs 🙂

So glad she had a good night. Nights weren't really an issue until 5.00 am hit! I guess rabbits are a bit more of a challenge when they hop off and are in a run! We loved her as well and hope that you all understand it was so difficult. As Ruth said to me, I probably need to be a bit harder in disciplining and let them know who's boss. Cherrypie seems more settled and enjoying not being growled at when she gets on the bed. I agree Ruth she has a very waggy tail luckily it doesn't whip like cherrys. Glad she's got somewhere to go for a few days 🙂

I was told you were making good progress when I went to the Sutton Park walk & I was sooooo pleased. I know how difficult it can be with a nervous dog, but training does work wonders!

Ditto tiggersslave...... I had Nora at home with me last night and she was a perfect little house guest - I am sure she remembered where she was and slept like a log all night. She went for a walk with mine this morning and wanted to play with two Spaniels she saw and we introduced her to the cats again and she happily sniffed them without her muzzle on and was far more interested in their food! She loves her food but waited patiently after she had eaten her breakfast whilst mine finished theirs. We currently have our ducks and chickens in their enclosure on the patio as we are having a new run built for them and Nora thought they were great fun and got very excited!!!! Martin has kindly agreed to foster her for a few days as I will be looking after Missy post op from tomorrow. I love this little girl who is full of personality and love and never stops wagging her tail 🙂

I think that was just the right decision to make for everyone - Nora, Cherrypie and their family. It's got to work for all otherwise everyone is miserable 🙁 and when I have a new dog the most important thing is my existing dog is happy with the newbie. Well done buckethead (!! LOL) I think that was a brave but right decision to make, I'm sure there'll be just the right home out there for Nora and Cherrypie will find her best friend when it's right 🙂 Julie
