Sarah
I’m Homed
I had thought little Sarah would be in a foster home today. I saw Sarah on Saturday, lovely litttle girl. Just wanted some love. I'll keep my eye out for a red, blue or green rectangle-I'm sure Sarah will be in someone's home very soon.

Stanley
Over the Rainbow Bridge
I wonder if people are put off looking at Stanley because he makes such a racket when people go to see him? His tail is wagging the whole time, its not in any way hostile or aggressive-its his way of saying come & say hello to me. He's excited to see new friends I think. He is a 'super dog with kind eyes & that's something I look for. Maybe if we foster him he will learn there's no need to bark. I feel, with all retired greys, once they're in a home these little kennel 'habits' disappear. They're totally different once they come home.

Marco
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Well, Henry (our greyhound) spent most of this morning looking for Marco. It was very quiet without him & we hope he's been ok at kennels with so many visitors this weekend & watching all the comings & goings. Can't wait to hear news about how he's doing. Helen

Dingo
I’m Homed
Thank you Coxycrew. We took him to Sutton Park again today and met with Heather and co and their dog Zak and that seemed to boost his confidence. He also made friends with Rooney at the Bistro. I'm hoping that with training classes and weekly walks in the park he will soon have lots of friends and be less nervous of other dogs on the walks. X

Rory
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Rory reminds me in some ways of our grey Jet when we had him. On the first evening at home, I went towards him & our female grey followed me,but we were greeted by a frightened growling grey who drew his lips so far back that I could see most of his teeth & gums, so we retreated hastily! He was possessive of 'his' corner & 'his' bed & we were determined to stop this. As he was nervous, we had to use his lead to move him; so every time we came back from a walk, he was led to a different corner & had to sit on a different bed (that already smelt of our other grey because he also had problems accepting her). At first, she could not walk passed him without being growled at. I spent Wimbledon fortnight watching tennis & dog training at the same time. I began with both dogs muzzled & went thru' various stages (& lots of treats ) until I had both dogs unmuzzled & she could walk passed him without a growl. The dogs slept unmuzzled in different rooms; she liked to sleep upstairs while Jet has never been able to master the stairs. It was a couple of months before we felt confident to leave them alone in the house unmuzzled together & only for a short time initially. Sadly, that female grey is no longer with us & when we had another, Jet adapted quickly, showing how scary homes & people can initially be! Every grey is different & that's why we all love them so much. Now,when Jet lies on his back, pawing the air & wanting his tummy tickled while our other grey saunters passed, we see how much he has changed & that's what makes all our effort worthwhile. If anyone has problems with their grey, there's valuable advice available from the kennels & there's also this website where there are those who have been there or done that or even bought the thundershirt! I'm glad to hear Rory seems to be adapting to his foster home well. Good luck - may be you will come to the same decision we did; despite initial problems there's a 'greyt' grey to be found that you'd like to keep(in return for time & patience)- that's what makes it so rewarding.

Dingo
I’m Homed
Hi Dingo'sMom, our grey Marnie was very nervous of other dogs (any shape or size) at first, it just takes time and patience and a few meet ups with other dogs. We have had Marnie for 9 months now, and she has regular mates, Alf the GSD cross especially, who have helped her gain confidence. I'm sure he will be the same. We met Dingo at Sutton on the walk a few weeks back, he's a lovely boy and stood with Marnie for ages no problems at all. He was so good I had trouble giving his lead back to his foster mom! Good luck x

We were at Daybreaks today, and we took you for a walk. You are a gorgeous girl and am so pleased you have been reserved cause I was desperately trying to find a way of squeezing you in with our other 3 greys.....a hyperatve 7 year old child and a nuerotic budgie...

How lovely to meet you and your Mum at the Stratford walk this morning. You and Orla - whose collar your Mum was admiring - have the same Dad...Larkhill Jo. This is where the collar came from: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/Dogs-/20742/i.html?_ipg=&_from=&_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ssn=7hpc

Marco
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Hi Rob & Evan, If ever you need any help or advice just ask any number of us. If you need anything just ask & we will always do our best for you. If you ever need a chat about Marco (& his penchant for vimto!) then I'm more than happy to help where I can, if I don't know the answer I will direct you, straight away, to someone who will. Although American, I found retired greyhounds for dummies a good starter book-you can get on amazon 2nd hand for few pounds. It's strange here without him but we're so pleased he's met you two today. Fingers crossed for home visit-keep me posted. Helen
