Hi Cinders have you considered becoming a Pets As Therapy volunteer with your grey? My Lola (Lass on here) is a PAT dog. We happen to vist a local care home but there are other opportunities including using dogs to encourage children to read. Check out https://www.petsastherapy.org/ where there are more details. Blue & Ben are our girls' (Lola & Lena) best friends and they are both absolutely delightful so I can see how the children would have loved them. Linda x

    I’m Homed

Dingo is still behaving beautifully and is getting more used to the cats. I am worried though that i've been expecting too much from him. While cuddling him yesterday I noticed that he was yawning lots and licking his lips. I suddenly remembered reading that Walters new owner had written that he had displayed the same actions before snapping at her and they are signs of stress. I started to feel a little nervous of him and incredibly guilty. I didn't want to cause him any stress I just wanted him to know how much I love him. After getting advice, we are now leaving him to just come to us (which he isn't doing much!) and hopefully he will learn to trust me soon. I just love him so much and want him to be happy.

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

My day by Badger (Ridge) aged 4 and three quarters and a bit more: Domestic science - stole dog meat (cooked) from kitchen, then dog meat (frozen) also from kitchen (are they stupid or what?) Interior design - chewed remote control and some curtain tie backs (not stylish at all, I've done the Aged Parents a favour) PE - legged it into the garden with APs pork chops Fashion - liberated mum's shoe from upstairs into garden. Mentoring - showing the new girl (Lena now Nina) how things are done around here! Feeling a bit tired now, must go for a snooze. Love Badge xx

    I’m Homed

Denny went to the vets today for his dental and had to have 22 out of his 28 teeth taken out, poor little dude. He has just polished off his first scrambled egg, which is better than eating a sheppards pie meant for four, which was his party piece last weekend. James, our 10 year old volunteered to sleep on the couch next to him tonight to keep him company.

What a lovely video. Brings a lump to your throat seeing them enjoying themselves and having a blast in the garden too. Love your dainty little girl though, who thought better of the race and tried to keep out of the wind instead! Mand x

I think it's such a fabulous idea. I wish we'd had that when I was at school-would've much rather stroked a Greyhound than hiding at the back of the class when the 'Animal Man' came in with the snakes! Mand x

That is certainly how it felt & I'm glad to have shared that time with him. He does still keep himself to himself but is straight up when you walk into a room, tail wagging & jumping on the spot whilst nitting me (giving me doggy nibble kisses. He's learning bed command today & doing well. He's still very food oriented hence the bed command. The main thing I discovered about him today is that he has a thing for vimto! The smell of it sends him bonkers. We've obviously not given him any but he tries hishardest to get to it so no more vimto when Marco about! Helen x

What a gorgeous photo that last one is. If I were her new family I'd want a copy to blow up onto a canvas. Ten out of ten to the photographer! Mand x

Hi cinders,we got approached by our daughter who teaches there and obviously knows blue and ben.I have spoken to her and she says if you write to primary or special schools especially, they are more likely to have visits to benefit the children. She has to do risk assessments etc but the school can do a '99' check instead of a CRB check. This had me worried as Ive had more than a few 99's in my time, but luckily it has nothing to do with ice creams. It is very rewarding though and we really enjoy it,the children all at the window waving the dogs bye bye says it all. Go for it! If you need any help or advice Ruth will have our number or put a post on here.

The longer we have Fire the more we realise why Ruth found him such a special boy, yes he still can be a sh*t and a tinker but he truly is an adorable and loving dog.

    I’m Homed

I was one of the ladies that helped with Pete at the training class on Monday, it was great to be able to help out. My daughter wanted to foster Pete but I don't feel it would be fair on Buddy or my chihuahua! I am sure he will soon find a new home, he was very good on Monday and loved his treats.
