The weather this morning was horrible! However what a fabulous day so far - Wanda and Nico reserved and Bullet off to his new home! We are currently setting up for our tonights event and hoping the rain stays away!

We went to the kennels yesterday to use the sandrun! My hoomans were quite disappointed as they expected me to actually run. I did for 5 seconds then I wanted to go back to the office to see the greyhound I fell in love with! I was very happy to see everyone! I had a very happy tail. Hope to see you all again soon! Daybreaks Diary!

What a start to today....torrential rain, lots of flooded roads. Only my sturdy Skip came with me to the kennels. :)) Thanks so much to Angie and Michael for cleaning and feeding everyone this morning. The were both quite wet when I arrived. Xxx Just when we thought morning walks would have to be cancelled, the sun came out and stayed out! So grateful to Heather, Jez and Amie for walking all the boys and girls. Xx I met Alice today, what a super little girl. :)) A lovely family came in to look at the dogs and they fell head over heels for her. Xxx We had several visitors for nail clipping and to use the sand run, fortunately it dried out quite quickly. Xx Deb who has been fostering lovely Lily brought her in to meet a family who were interested in offering her a home. She met their other Greyhound and touch wood they were great together! Keeping everything crossed they will be good friends! Xxx Afternoon walks soon came round thanks to Gillian, Jan and Jez for making sure everyone got a walk. :)) Congratulations to Chris for winning the jar of sweets! :)) Wonderful to see Alice and Lily reserved today. We have more viewings tomorrow, hoping more of our residents will find their forever homes soon. Xxx

Mikey came for a walk around Sheldon Country Park and Elmdon Park today. As usual, he was great company and a pleasure to be with. He is simply incredibly happy just to be out and about exploring. We walked around the edge of the golf course and he stood and watched the golfers with some bemusement. We carried on to the side of the runway, the noise from which didn't faze him at all. Once again, he was perfect with all the dogs we met and walked beautifully. Once back at the kennels, he gave me a thank you wash down and rested his head on my leg. He is absolutely adorable and will be a great addition to family lucky enough to take him home. He's a real gem xx

Daybreaks Diary!

What a whirlwind of a day that was!! Daybreaks is bursting at the seams with doggies now following the arrival of the lovely Alice & handsome Nico. To make space for the newbies we moved Mikey up to the kitchen kennel and run. Well, he was in his element lying on the bed outside watching the world go by. The kennel itself is behind the staff kitchen and has a stable door, so we opened the top half and had periodic visits from Mikey during the day whenever he heard someone in the kitchen. I wish I could say that at no point did he receive any treats or cheese - but you know that of course he did!! I took a couple of cute photos of him & will get Michael to put them on Facebook later. I tried all the residents on slices of apple this morning - suffice to say it was not a huge success!! The only hounds to really enjoy a crunchy treat were Bullet and Tina - everyone else turned their noses up and gave me the look that said "what is this you are giving me?!?!?!" We had a visit from a lady bringing in a huge shopping bag full of tins of tuna in spring water - thankyou. She had just intended to drop off her kind donation, but ended up having a look round - then going in to a couple of kennels to sit with the dogs, then fell completely under the Greyhound spell and she has signed up as a volunteer!! With health checks, new arrivals, 11 dogs to walk & feed and more preparations for Sunday's event, the day absolutely flew past and it was soon time to tuck the boys & girls up in bed. Hope that Nico & Alice have a good first night, they had found things a bit bewildering but seemed quite settled when we left. Well the weekend is here again. Tickets for the Halloween Howl are still available, but we would appreciate it if we could know final numbers by tomorrow lunchtime so we can go shopping for supplies!! Keep fingers crossed that the forecast is correct and the rain has stopped by 6pm as promised!! I shall certainly raise a glass or two of wine later after such a busy day to our new arrivals and our current residents, wishing forever homes for them very soon.
