    I’m Homed

A very damp and dreary day....however seeing our gorgeous little Blossom reserved certainly brightened the afternoon up! :))) Xxx Yesterday I visited the home of Rio and Ella. Their lovley Mum and Dad, Phil and Sylvia had very kindly collected lots of boxes goodies for the kennels and I went to pick them up. Phil had been up since 7am cooking breakfasts and dinners for all of our boys and and girls, or "Growlers" as Phil likes to call them! 🙂 They loved them! We were all quite jealous of the omlete, hash browns, toast etc for Breakfast and the Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, chicken etc they had for dinner! :))) Thank you so much to Phil and Sylvia fo all the time and effort! Xxx We are so lucky to have so many wonderful supporters for the Greyhounds in our care. Despite the rain our residents had morning and afternoon walks, thanks so much to our hardy volunteers! :)) It was good to see Ruth back today. Although still not feeling brilliant she was able to sort a lot of paperwork with help from Jude and remove corns from Amy's boys Bocko and Prince. :))) Sadly It's that time of year when we all have to get our coats out again! If you could do with a new one for your four legged friend we received a new supply of Winter Blizzard coats this morning. :)) Thanks so much to everyone for your help today. Xxx

A miserable damp start to the day, thankfully it did brighten up. Thanks to the lovely volunteers who came in and helped today. All dogs had morning and afternoon walks, apart from Mikey the Younger who went out with Liz for a few hours, she thought she had tired him out, she was very much mistaken! He got back in his kennel and decided it was play time. He had a glowing report from Liz, he has become a firm favourite with many of the volunteers, there must be a loving home out there somewhere for him. He is such a cheeky happy lad and in the right home he will be a fantastic companion. He has waited so patiently and for such long time :(( It was quiet for visitors today, just a food collection and a couple of bedding drop offs, thanks for the bedding, it is always welcome. Well, it's nice to see we are now able to start organizing events, Halloween Howl on 31st October and Santa Paws can now make a return on 5th December after taking a year off!! It feels like we are now able to return to some sort normality. Tickets for both events are available at the kennels or you can order and pay over ghe phone. As always, please stay safe and well everyone. X

    I’m Homed

Mikey had a walk along the canals today. He was his usual perfect self. He jumped in the car with barely any encouragement and lay down immediately. I didn't hear a peep from him and when we arrived he waited patiently to be told to jump out of the boot. He walked really well and enjoyed a good look around. We turned round at Knowle locks by doing a loop down to the high street. He wanted to have a look in a few shops, but sadly wasn't allowed in. It was a shame, as I know he behaves impeccably in shops too based on my last trip out with him. He did slow down on the way back and I thought I had succeeded in tiring him out. However after a ride in the car and some time in his kennel, I think he was ready for his next adventure. He really is everything that you could want in a dog: fun loving; affectionate; good traveller; great walking companion and very handsome (to name just a few). I'm really hoping that his chance comes along soon. I have everything crossed for him xx

    I’m Homed

Another pleasant day with lots of sunshine. :))It was quiet at the kennels for volunteers. So grateful to Diane and our young volunteers for their help with the walking. I went on a couple of walks too. 🙂 I took Blossom who was a very happy girl 🙂 I also took new lad Jo out. What a lovley boy! Xxx Thanks to Gill, Jan and Jez for taking everyone out for their afternoon walks. 🙂 I saw next year's calendars today, lots of lovely photos of happy hounds! We have the large A3 size at £12 each and the slimline for £7 each. They will make lovely Christmas presents! :)) I usually take all the dogs out for one more wee before bedtime and then treat them to a biscuit when they go back into their kennel. Mikey and Bullet now go back to their respective kennel on their own....jump on their beds and wait for their biscuit. :)) It's great to see but also kind of sad that they have been with us so long they look at it their kennel as home. Really hope it won't be long before they and all our other residents are jumping on beds of their own in their forever homes. Please take a look at our current Daybreaks guests on the website...they are all beautiful and waiting patiently for someone special to come along and take them home. Xxx Xxx

Bullet had an amazing day out yesterday with Tina, Lorna & Trooper. He visited Headway, the brain injury charity, and was an absolute star. There are some lovely photos on the Daybreaks Chat Group Facebook page, he was a great ambassador for Greyhounds. He is such a friendly boy, who loves a cuddle but equally is happy to have some time to himself. He waits so patiently for his turn to come out of his kennel - a real treasure of a boy. xxxx

    I’m Homed

It was a lovely Autumn day today with plenty of sunshine. Very quiet for visitors so we could catch up with health checks, teeth cleaning & of course the boys & girls enjoyed a lovely morning walk. In contrast this afternoon was slightly nuts!!! Our 3 new arrivals all turned up at the same time, so there was a major flurry of activity to get them all admitted. Arrival checks & health check done, photo taken, bathed, kennel allocated and all accompanying paperwork completed & scanned - x3!!! Three black beauties Jim, Star & Joe - welcome to Daybreaks. Here's hoping they have a good first night and settle into the family soon. As everyone was busy with the new arrivals, I took the other residents out into the sand run in turn for some playtime in the sun. Poor Joey & Tina, who are still on restricted exercise, had to make do with a walk around the run perimeter bless them. It was lovely to see Ruth today, she is still not feeling great but is trying to do a bit at a time - we were on her case making sure she didn't overdo it! Many thanks to Tina, Lorna & Trooper who took the lovely Bullet for a day out. They went to the brain injury charity Headway in Rubery and apparently Bullet was an absolute star! Tina will post an update on his page later. He really enjoyed his day out - and was definitely ready for his supper on his return! x Don't forget tickets for the Halloween Howl are available from the kennels, if you cant pop in to collect we will happily post them out & take payment over the phone. Our lovely Daybreaks calendars & Christmas Cards (sorry to mention that word!!) will be on sale during the evening. Well another weekend is here, and another Friday night raising of a wine glass to toast our new arrivals, our lovely existing residents and our foster doggies - may your forever home soon be with you. Whatever you are up to this weekend, as always, stay safe! Cheers! Angie xx
