Daybreaks Diary!

What a day!!!! I arranged for all the greys currently out on foster (Mac, Billy, Mikey R and Lady) to come to Daybreaks as we had a couple of viewings booked for today. Mac was the first to be chosen and went off on trial- if all goes well this week he has bagged himself a home with a greyhound sister Tess and cousins Rosie and Jim who many of you will remember! Mikey R was next to be chosen and went off to his new home with greyhound sisters Daisy and Kara! As Billy's foster family have commitments next week, Billy went off with the family who had been fostering Mac. He is such a gorgeous but timid fella and we hope he finds his forever home soon. Star was viewed and reserved and is off to her new home a week on Wednesday after she has been neutered. Lady was signed up by her foster family (dare we say this was no surprise!!!!) We have a viewing for Bullet on Wednesday and the offer of two foster homes from Thursday onwards. It has been a great day....... helped with lots of fabulous volunteers, coffee and biscuits!!!!

Billy

We’ve been fostering Billy for 3 weeks today and he has come on in leaps and bounds - literally! This morning he was doing zoomies round the lounge and bouncing up and down with excitement that it was morning again 🙂 He is generally now very relaxed and happy in the house but still more nervous outside. We have kept to mainly the same route on his walks so that he knows where he is, and his tail only goes under his body if he sees someone he hasn’t met before. Even so, he can cope with people being nearer to him than when he first came to us. We’re going away later this week and can’t take him with us so he’s gone to a new foster family today. We’re really going to miss him but feel he’ll settle in quickly with a new family. Hope to see you soon Billy and that you find your forever home as you’re a lovely boy and deserve somewhere settled xxx

Daybreaks Diary!

Ruth's corn clinic was open today....the Greyhounds are always so good. Sure they must know she is trying to help them! Xxx We had several visitors this morning. Thanks to Diane, Patric and Ammie for giving everyone a walk. 🙂 It was a lot quieter this afternoon. Mikey went on his trip to Earlswood Lakes. Jan and Gill walked everyone else. 🙂 I did manage to help and go for one walk. I had the pleasure of taking handsome lad Joe. :)) Gorgeous boy. Xxx Thanks so much to Jan for helping me with feeding this afternoon. 🙂 We do have a couple of viewings tomorrow. So keep your fingers crossed we may see someone reserved. Xxx

We can report that Betsy (Blossom) has been a very good girl overnight and is getting on marvelously with Dirk and Matty. We've also discovered that she is a fiend for pizza, and will try and steal it out of your hand or off the plate, lol!

Mr Jim is a bit of a tinker!! When we opened up this morning, his fleece coat was on the floor of the kennel so when he came out for his breakfast Michael duly put it back on. As I was cleaning the kennels, Michael gave me a shout to have a look at Jim - and we watched as he craftily pulled at the velcro strap on the coat to undo it, then flipped the coat around, lowered his head and the coat slid off onto the ground!! Bless him, very ingenious - methinks pyjamas with legs are going to be the way to go for this beauty. xx

You are an absolute treasure, and a firm favourite with everyone at Daybreaks, and are such an intelligent boy - you pick things up so quickly and would just love to have lots more fun & challenging activities to do. Hi JustJak91, what a wonderful job you have done on taking care of Tina after the operation on her shoulder. She is so happy and bouncy and healed completely. She has been a very clean girl in her kennel and she does love people! xxx

took mikey out to earlswood lakes today as a family and he was GOLDEN!!! he travelled in the car to and from the kennels perfectly and had no problems- he just settled down nicely and didn’t hear a peep from him. he walked on the lead around the lakes with no pulling and was totally unfazed but passing dogs and people. we then had a break at the earlswood craft centre- a hot chocolate for us and a doggy ice cream for him, kindly given to us by one of the unit holders (old and retro) ,which he devoured in minutes. he was comfortable with other people coming to give him some fuss and attracted a lot of attention with those beautiful brown eyes of his he is a lovely dog and would reward a new owner with bucketfuls of love and loyalty katarina, liljana, jackie and ned xx

Ah sorry to hear about ginger chicken, but I love the fact that like us you take your chickens to the vet when it's their time. People look at us gone out when we say we take our chickens to the vets! Xxx

Aww I’m glad Tina has finally made it to Daybreaks she’s been waiting a while to settle down I should know as I had her at home for her after care after the operation she’s brilliant but is partial to making a mess but she will not leave your side I hope you find your forever home Tina x

Daybreaks Diary!

A busier day today, and dry & sunny too so the boys & girls enjoyed morning and afternoon walks. We had a kind donation of food and treats from a lady that had sadly just lost her dog. Amongst them was an open packet of doggy cheese straws which we decided to try all the residents with - to say they were a hit would be an understatement!!! Lots of lip smacking and pleading looks for seconds bless them, a real treat indeed. The afternoon saw the gorgeous Blossom off to her new home, she has 2 lovely fur brothers to keep her company. Wishing everyone many happy times ahead. x Between baths, nail clipping and sorting the various bags of donations received, the afternoon sped past and it was soon time to tuck the boys & girls in for the night. The Halloween raffle, "Trick or Sweets" and "Bucket O Bones" competitions are now up and running in the office - have a go or two next time you visit. The raffle is being drawn and competition results announced at the Halloween Howl next weekend - and tickets for this are still available - just give the kennels a call. The 2022 Calendars are selling like hot cakes!! As we are having a few problems with the online shop, please give us a call and we can take payment over the phone and post out to you. Well the weekend is here again, and my glass of red wine will be raised later to our lovely residents - wishing you all your forever homes so very soon.
