I’m a Sponsor Dog
It has been a while since I done an update. In short Caesar is doing very well. His coat was a proper kennel coat when we took him in and now, he has such a lovely shiny black coat, that we call him black beauty :-). I have been keeping him busy with training him to walk to heal, food manners and waiting at the door and not reacting to other dogs. He loves to come with me in the car, I had to drop off leaflets at different vets and he enjoyed the ride. We have visited the kennels a couple of times which he always enjoys specially stealing biscuits from the counter and getting a lot of fuss. Caesar loves carrots and digs them out of our vegetable patch. I now buy carrots for him and I hide these in the garden for him to find which keeps him mentally active. He remains a good naughty boy, he loves stealing my 5-year-old daughters fluffy toys. Sometimes his naughtiness does not do him much good. Yesterday, Using the sofa, he climbed on the dresser and took my wife’s pain killers which were on the top shelve. That was a trip to the vet, we thought he had eaten 3 tablets, as throwing up was induced no tablets could be seen. I called my wife to do a further check and she managed to find 2 tablets hiding in the sofa, which was good news. I did feel sorry for the boy who already has enough to deal with and together with his antics he does not make it easier for himself. Caesar and Barney enjoy playing games I have a number of different toys for them and they sometimes “fight” over them. But it is simply nice to watch them play fetch. I also play with them in the house and this can be noisy as they are both vocal. But it is all good fun and it keeps me on my toes. As I am writing this he is also talking to me and he does like to have his say 🙂

Daybreaks Diary!

It was extremely quiet today, only a couple of visitors for the sand run. This meant that yet again, more tasks from the "jobs to do when you're quiet" list were tackled - the list is definitely getting shorter!! The boys & girls were able to have both morning & afternoon walks, although I am sure they would have preferred to go without this morning! The only torrential downpour we had all day occurred when they were all out down the lane - and it was a procession of very wet and bedraggled doggies & humans that made their way back to Daybreaks!! I think the doggies enjoyed all the extra attention as they were dried off though bless them - and then it was hot drinks all round for the humans! Bullet was fine today after his neutering op yesterday, and he and Paddy watched with sad eyes as the group set out on their walks! Bless Billy, this morning when I opened up he was bouncy & happily came out with me to have a wee and his breakfast. Unfortunately during the day he became very reluctant to leave his kennel and so missed out on the morning walk, but we managed to coax him out for the afternoon one. It seems he gets worried by large groups of people being around, and seeks refuge in the safety of his familiar kennel. Let's hope over the coming days we can work with him and get him to relax and start to learn to trust. He has my cuddle tonight. x Tickets for the Halloween Howl on 31st October are now on sale. Our last remembrance evening was more than 2 years ago, so it will be so nice to be able to catch up with friends old & new as we share memories and light candles to remember our hounds that have gone to Rainbow Bridge. If you cant join us on the evening itself, we will happily light a candle at the ceremony on your behalf. Tickets are £5 which includes your candle & a jacket potato, or if you are not attending, candles only are £2.50 Just give the kennels a call on 0121 782 7702. Another weekend, and it's October already!! As the sun has now come out I shall have a glass of wine later as I toast our Greys - may forever homes soon be theirs. Happy Birthday to our dear old Paddy...13 today Its been an up and down year with some health issues but generally he’s very good for his age. We think having Belle join our family helped to give him a boost as he loves her and they share his big bed now and then. The main thing he has to contend with in old age are his wobbly back legs, they seemed to have declared independence and they sometimes do their own thing and Paddy will look at them as if to say why won’t you do what I tell you! One thing for certain he still enjoys his food and we will be serving his favourite Lily’s kitchen for dinner. Walks have to be taken at a slow pace and kept short but he still gets out and about ok and its quite funny watching him have a slow carefree amble around the garden. Big hugs super Padster xx

Billy has taken a few backward steps this week. 🙁 He has been very reluctant to go for walks. Lucy took him out today. She said he was very worried about the workmen in the lane, he wouldn't walk any further and they came back to the kennels. He is still nervous of the heavy traffic on the Coventry Road. Alan is right, inside there is a happy playful Billy! Xxx When everyone had gone home tonight and it was quiet he was happy to come out of his kennel to go to the toilet. Sending him my cuddle tonight. Such a sweet boy. Xxx

Daybreaks Diary!

Another neutering operation today, this time it was Bullet's turn. Ruth dropped him off and James picked him up in our newly repaired van! :)) He was very happy, lively and hungry when he got back. :)) Xxx Richard and Declan spent the morning repairing loose slabs!,They like to make a noise! :)) Ruth has been busy sorting all the trackers this week. Some of them unfortunately do not work properly anymore. 🙁 It's been a very time consuming job. Many thanks to everyone for your help today. The weather wasn't too bad for walks. 🙂 Alan brought chocolate donuts in today! Thank you. Xxx The temperature has definitely taken a dip this week, the fleecy coats are back out again...my Skip, Lyra and Cracker are wearing their fleeces at night now too. :)) Xxx
