I'm very taken with Dale as he is SMALL. On the verge of adding a second, and he would fit the bill sizewise. Why has no-one put a post here? I'm off to give him a cuddle.

Eek! Saw a squirrel running across the road this morning when out for our stroll. Slightly more reaction than with the cat, but consisted of ears up, short strides (staring and walking obviously was a challenge) and crying when it disappeared into a hedge! No attempts at leaping around which is good news at this stage. We are up to 15 mins walking from today and he's still loving it. Norris has now claimed many of the trees which line our road as his very own! x

Hi Caroline I can only suggest that you bring him to one of the RGT training sessions which we have set up to show people how to train their greyhounds- we are all greyhound owners and very experienced in greyhound behaviour, I would agree with your trainer that your dog needs to understand basic commands first but greyhounds are very different to other breeds and that needsd to be taken into account first- to help any reactive dog you need to understand where their behaviour/reactions come from - and it's usually fear based. Punishing fear rarely if ever makes the behaviour improve, glad you stopped him. Regards Julie

    I’m Homed

Huggie had a good first night. Slept very well as he was tired after his walk in the park yesterday. He is very well behaved, but we still need to work very hard as Huggie and our cat are very wary of each other. We are hoping they start getting on a bit better today. Huggie has certainly made himself at home.

Just a quick one to say Cookie is thriving on the Nature's Diet - the lamb and the chicken don't smell anywhere near as bad as the fishy versions and she is gobbling up every bit. The only downside is she carries off each lump to her bed to eat - very strange. Thanks Ruth for getting it for me - give me a week or so and I'll be ordering the next lot!

Hi Caroline53, here are the details of the trainer we used to help us and Marty (sadly put to sleep yesterday due to cancer) and Misty when we were having such problems with encountering other out of control dogs. He came to the house twice and we went round all the village' hotspots'. Each session was well over an hour but he still only charged the hourly rate of £50. plus £5 petrol. Oh my goodness, poor baby. Trouble is it always looks worse on a delicate Grey's skin. A hairier dog would probably just have lost a bit of fluff! I bet Bailey's feeling very guilty, wouldn't we all react if our 'kennel-mates' trampled on us during the night?! Love and kisses to them both. Mand x

Hi Caroline53. We met up at the kennels a few weeks ago and you were telling me about Max. I'm not sure who you used as a trainer, but a few months ago Julie organised some training sessions with Jim Greenwood, just Google Jim Greenwood and his site is usually the first hit. I didn't get chance to go, but heard he was quite good. Julie, are there any plans for Jim to do any more sessions at the riding school? I'd love to bring my boy and perhaps Max could come too? Mand
