I have brought Kirsty home again tonight and she has settled so well. Clean throughout the night last night and very chilled out with our 6 and Red who we are looking after at the moment.

I saw Amber today when she visited the kennels. She is certainly still being a minx and keeping her owners on their toes - I really respect them for sticking with her as she really is a handful - but so very sweet too!

Safety of children is always of the utmost importance, however equally the dog also needs to be protected and respected. I have seen photos in the past of dogs laying asleep on the floor with a child laying across them. We always say that a dog must be respected at all times especially when on their bed or asleep. I am not doubting the circumstances relayed by Huggie's owners but need to reiterate that it is not always the dog at fault.

  • Norris

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Has anyone got any lead boots to fit Norris?!! What broken hock? I'm sure Norris only occasionally realises he's not yet 100%. He's great - snoozes all through the day and then some days he is very busy indeed after his evening meal. It's just like someone has changed the batteries for fresh duracells! He is cheeky and playful now and was even trying to get Lena to play with him. Not a brilliant idea on his part as running round the room is not on his recovery plan! He's now learning the 'down' command and he's pretty reliable in doing this for a treat or biscuit as long as he's on a bed. He's also good at waiting to be told he can eat after his bowl is put down. So he seems to be coming along OK. He can be a little stiff when he gets up but that passes very quickly. It's 6 weeks on Wednesday since his surgery and while the hair is growing back on his shaved leg, he's moulting like crazy from other parts! Back to the Willows on August 14th. so keeping everything crossed. x

This is Huggies owner...he is a lovely, loyal well behaved dog....who we all loved and will miss very much...unfortunately this wasnt an isolated incident he has nipped at my grandchildren a couple of times in the past.....hence us always putting a muzzle on him when children are around. This time it would have been much more than a nip if he wasnt wearing a muzzle and we feel as we have chilren visiting our house regularly it is best for everyone to return Huggie...i wouldnt hesitate to say that he would be fine for anyone without children or older children and he is brilliant with other dogs large and small as stated...we were also able to let him off a lead and he would come bk when called. I really hope he finds a new home soon.

Such an adorable picture - if this isn't an advert for how beautiful greyhounds are, I don't know what is! You could use it as a poster. x
