We went on the first walk today , I did cut it a bit short as she spotted some Golden retrievers up the lane and I thought it best in the early days not to go too close But she is much better on the lead than I expected when she saw them , she was interested but we just turned around and came back home I understand what you say about Muzzling and trust me , I wont be taking any risks , she is only at the moment going to be unmuzzled when she is supervised and I can give 100% attention as I was yesterday ,following what you said , she is muzzled again at the moment,as Im otherwise distracted and not giving 100% attention and she will definitely be muzzled when Im out .

Had the pleasure of walking alongside this girl today. She is really keen on going or walks and wanted to be first out of the kennels. She is very interested in everything going on outside and I agree with Dan a short lead by the road is essential. She is a lively fun loving girl who will give a new owner an emmense amount of pleasure. Her markings are unusual and stunning.

She's lovely. Especially with that big black wet nose, grey flecks and brown eyes. Good natured too.

She's a bit of a jeckle and hyde! She's nervous one-on-one in the kennel and will shy away at first. But if you grab her and cuddle her she does start responding after a while. She's a little demond on walks though, and very keen. She can be like little Hope;if you walk behind her she does'nt like it and she spins around in a wide arc without looking what she's doing. So if you walk her, watch her on the road part, keep her on a short lead next to you, and stay in between her and it! Just something I picked up.

I agree too although they may become best of friends it really is best to keep the newbie muzzled. When we got our 2nd we kept both ours muzzled for at least 2 weeks then started to introduce them on walks unmuzzled and then gradually built up to evenings whilst we were home and then made the brave decision after about 3-4 weeks to leave them unmuzzled whilst we were at work. Lots of people kept saying we were being a bit over protective but they now both get on fine and have never had a cross word between them so glad we took it nice and slow. I would really recommend the classes too as you can learn so much not only about your own dog but about the signals other dogs may be demonstrating for you to read how they are going to be with your dog. Good luck and remember to take tiny paw steps to make it work.

Hi Jeff How lovely to hear how you and Carrie have found each other and altho she'll never replace Eve she can hopefully fill some of the huge gap Eve left 🙁 . I'd agree with Sarah about keeping the muzzle on - greys are used to wearing them and it's better to be safe than her take a nip at Teddy in her excitement and you have a problem to deal with. We offer free training classes for all our new owners (and you can keep coming once the four free sessions are up), if you've not had a hound before they are very useful to show you how different hounds are and you meet lots of greyt owners too 🙂 Best wishes Julie

I'm literally having to sit on my hands and car keys (not comfortable) to stop myself coming over for a peek at this boy. But I must not rush into another baby too soon. Maybe tomorrow 😉
