    I’m Homed

A beautiful day today, our residents all had morning and afternoon walks in the sunshine. Thanks to Denise, Dave, Alison and Tia for all there help today. It was strangely quiet for visitors, I suppose people are making the most of being able to get away. In saying that we managed to stay fairly busy. Sadly no viewings, sadly lots of nail cuttings!!! I am covering for Kate tomorrow so she can have a bank holiday Monday off, I hope she has a lovely day. X Tomorrow's diary....more nail cutting!! As always stay safe and well all. X

What a lovely boy and his face say's it all." I am looking for someone to take me home and love me" Reading the news from yesterday and the fact there had been no viewings but the hounds had all had good walks and all the usual excellent care, it made me think of all the people who give their time and love even on bank holidays. As a nurse of 43 yrs with the NHS I, like these gentlemen and ladies worked when I was needed, weekends and bank holidays were just another day if your colleagues were struggling on the wards. Why did I do it for all those years? because I loved my chosen profession and people. I believe that is what drives you all at Daybreaks, your love for these beautiful Grey's. You are special people, come rain or shine you are there for them and can I say to you all, thank you for caring and Fat Face Finn agrees xx

    I’m Homed

Well Penny has settled really well, clean in the house, quiet at night and good with dogs she has met on her walks, those are the ‘good’ points. Taking a flying leap onto my bed first thing in the morning to remind me it’s walk time, stealing the treat tub at every opportunity and attempting a break in, going into kangaroo mode ever time we see a squirrel and there are lots of them, exploding several cushions, opening the mail, being a counter surfer supremo, attempting to literally pull the blanket off Joes bed whilst he is lay on it and doing all of this with an angelic little face that looks like butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth. I suppose you could say it’s going well????

    I’m Homed

Barney is learning a lot at his foster family, having fun and enjoying live. I would say that as I am writing it :-)) We enjoy having him around, but he really needs his forever home where he can spend his time being part of his own family. Barney is going to stay at the Kennels from Friday 4/6 to Saturday 5/6, if you can give him a suitable home come and see him. Please call 0121 782 7702 to arrange visit.

    I’m Homed

After a very cloudy start, the sun came out this afternoon and it was a proper Spring day! Thanks so much to Diane, Patrick and Gloria, Jan and Gill for taking the dogs on nice long walks throughout the day. Xxx Hagar went off to his new home. He also has a new name...Miles 🙂 The children chose it for him. I understand it the name of the new Spider Man. :)) He went home with a complete new wardrobe. He looked so very handsome in his blue raincoat and fleece. :)) wishing him lots of happy times with his family. Xxx Thanks so much to the people who brought in donations of bedding and to Julie and Adrian for collecting donations for us from Pets At Home. Xxx Alan and Christine popped in with more duck eggs for us sell for a donation. All proceeds go to helping look after our Daybreaks residents. :)) Thank you both very much. Xxx We had a visit from Cora and her Dad. Her leg is doing well and hopefully will be good enough to have an operation to remove the metal plate sometime next month. She is such a very happy little girl, loves everyone! She tried to clean Topsy's ears for her but Topsy wasn't very impressed! Xxx Sadly no viewings today. Things have slowed down considerably the last couple of weeks. Hoping when people are back to their normal routines we will have more interest in our beautiful Greyhounds. Xxx Thanks so much to everyone for your help today. Thank you Gloria sand Jan for feeding the boys and girls. :)) Very much appreciated! Xxx

Miles seems to have settled really well today. He's been very good, and has made friends with our beagle Freki well. The cat is yet to meet him...she's keeping her distance upstairs for now. Fingers crossed that meeting will go well and then happy days. Thank you again for letting us adopt our newest family member xxx

    I’m Homed

In complete contrast to last Friday, today was very quiet with only a few visitors for the sand run. Jo was on the Vet run this morning with my lovely Phoenix. I must say he was not impressed at watching all his kennel mates enjoy their breakfast whilst he couldn't partake!! He was as bright as a button on his return this afternoon and tucked in to his dinner with great gusto bless him. The weather was beautiful all morning, allowing the residents to shed their coats and enjoy a lovely walk in some warm sunshine - and 2 loads of washing to dry. This afternoon was not so good, it clouded over and actually dared to sprinkle us with rain on the walk! Alley and Joe were due their health checks today, and both were excellent - standing patiently and quietly to be weighed, have ears and teeth cleaned and a body check and groom. Joe is recovering from a broken hock so is on restricted exercise, but he does enjoy his short walks and is such a good boy on the lead. It was sad to see Leo & Sanka back at the kennels. When they are used to a home environment, being back in the kennel routine is quite hard for them to adjust to. They are both such lovely lads and we are really hoping that they will be back out in forever homes soon. Well it's Bank Holiday weekend and the weather forecast is looking good. Whatever you end up doing, stay safe & well and enjoy. My glass of wine will be raised later to our kennel full of beauties - wishing for their forever homes to come along soon. Cheers! Angie xx
