Just heartbreaking to think that a human can do this to an innocent, I can't write what I really think...thank goodness for Alison, Ruth and Daybreaks, again...so sad...

Colin
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Hi Folks! hope everybody is ok, Colin is sorry to hear about his pal "Wizard" - and says to keep his chin up - a new mum and dad will be along shortly! We'd help if we could but 2 dogs in our house is enough for us at the minute. Colin has been to the local vets to register today, had a weigh-in (a healthy 31.5kg), and is booked in for his dental on the 20th May - we were going to do it the week before but that would be friday the 13th..........hmm! Anyway, a big love to everybody at Daybreaks from Colin, Ellie and us! ps. Colin says can Ruth let him know when she secures the new "fenced off field" so he can have a nice safe run now and again? Cheers all! X X

Olive
Over the Rainbow Bridge
She's getting on beautifully! She's great with other dogs, loves her cuddly toys and we're loving life. We took her to Anglesey last week and we were staying in a lighthouse and she got on very well with the irish wolfhound in the cottage nextdoor. We also took her down to the bay where she splashed about in the water. She looked just like a dolphin when she came bounding out! She loved chasing ducks and seaguls and had a great time! We lost our last dog Casey and we have been grieving for a while but Olive has made our lives so much more happier 🙂 <3

I popped by Daybreaks today, not often that I can, and saw first hand the state of poor Wizard. Not only was he emaciated but utterly withdrawn and in shutdown. His mood was reflected in the staff on duty too. All were downbeat and clearly upset at the state of him. I'm not certain about the biting story but this poor boy as definately been neglected to a major degree and to me this is abuse. I'm so glad that all of you guys a Daybreaks are there to help every hound and are so non judgmental with the people returning the dogs. I understand just how important that any owner feels they have somewhere to turn other than turf the dog out on the streets when it goes wrong for them and thats what you guys do best, open arms no matter the story. Please please keep up the good work, I cant praise you all enough for the hard work that you do. luv t reubes & blossom

When I saw Wizard, my eyes nearly fell out of my head. This shaddow of a boy weighs just 26kg (when neutered at the beginning of March prior to his homing he was almost 34kg). Alison has come to the rescue and taken him home until he is back on the mend. His eyes were sorrowful but with Alison's help the Wizard we know will be back very soon I am sure.....

Thanks to all for the good wishes. Lucy has settled in really well, gets on with the other 3, eats like a horse, 'talks' a lot which is hilarious and seems happy here. We all love her to bits and hope she will be with us for a long, long time.

Poor wizard, its easy to get excited and he wouldn't have meant to do it. Hope he can find the right forever home soon. I have already used my cuddle today but will save tomorrows for him. So sad when they have been settled in a home to have to go into kennels. At least he has you wonderful people at daybreaks looking after him xxx I'm sure he won't be short of love xxx

Over the Rainbow Bridge
Such a shame, he looks beautiful. Our lurcher used to pull but with a little patience and the right harness it was nipped in the bud really quickly. It doesn't seem like a reason to return a dog, such a minor and preventable thing. xxx He gets my cuddle today xxx

Another returnee? How sad! I know Ruth that this always upsets you, it sounds like once again you've done your best and offered advice and support and it's unfortunate that these owners can not see the effect that they're having on the dogs by not trying to resolve issues. Sending love and hugs, will come up for walks tomorrow. xx

That is so sad. Poor Connor. It seems like an excuse to me. Ours are sometimes like zebedee if they see another dog, but we'd never give up on them. They've already had enough of that through their life. Why are they so expendable to some people. 🙁

Be assured that Tippie is receiving lots of love and fuss. It's no problem, she is an absolute sweetheart. Clean in the house and quiet overnight, Tippie is no trouble at all. She has been left with Rowan and Gracie for an couple of hours this morning and was fine. She has the cutest face with an upturned nose and big eyes that follow you round. She loves her cuddles. Once her teeth are sorted (unbelieveable) she will make a great addition to any home! Please let Daybreaks know if you are interested so that I can get her there to meet you. Just to indulge me I have to put a comment about Rowan and Gracie. Tippie is the 5th dog I have brought back and they have accepted each one with barely a murmur. I am so lucky to have two fantastic dogs, what beautiful animals they all are.

Oh no, this is so sad. Wizard stayed with me for a while and was a quiet, shy, gentle chap and a perfect gentleman. I do hope he gets another chance with someone who can appreciate what a lovely dog he is.
