Oh dear poor you and Penny, I think most of us have had experiences like this, 9 times out of 10 their owners are a good distance away and their 'friendly' dog is just wanting to play ! (with its teeth) - gets me so angry -lost count of the number of times I have asked (& shouted at) the irresponsible idiots to call back their dogs, you did nothing wrong and I hope Penny is ok now on her next walk round the park, as J said below - there the ones breaking the law of an uncontrolable dog in a public place - more info can be found by pasteing this link in your browser - https://www.direct.gov.uk/en/HomeAndCommunity/InYourHome/AnimalsAndPets/Dogs/DG_180008 Good for all to know, and on another point when these little darlings are off lead and at a distance from their owner ... their rose smelling poo' s are not picked up ! (which I have also pointed out to people when they catch up LOL) xxx

Its so upsetting when this happens and it can scare your dog for a very long time with others 🙁 Maybe difficult if you have a few dogs but I'd take a squeezy bottle full of water with you and let the other dog have a good facefull if they don't leave yours alone 🙂 You could also warn the other owner about the Dangerous Dogs Act - if their dog is acting dangerously in a public place (I forget the correct words but ..) they could be liable for a criminal conviction, fine and lose their dog!!! J xx

Thank you to everyone for my birthday wishes. My mum has spoilt me today, I have had a pilchard cake, which I shared with my brothers and sisters and mum also made some yummy cheesy biscuits which I might share. I have been racing around the garden, the others can't catch me it's great fun. Lots of love Iris xxxx

Thanks all for your reassurance...I've gone over what happened and I did nothing wrong, I was more annoyed at this woman who looked to be the same age as my Mum, not taking responsibility for her and her dogs actions. Poor Penny, she doesn't try and get at other dogs, doesn't bark at them, is happy if they aren't too close, I work hard to be calm and reassuring...just hope this doesn't bring out The Terminator in her from now on ;0) I'm pleased I'm not the only one who finds some dog owners frustrating! x

Hi thanx for all the advice will give them a try. the door is a glass panelled 1 so even tho it's shut he can still see out, didn't really want to use a gate on the lounge because of the cats, the 3 of them would attack the cats if they got into the lounge n the cats are always trying 2 get in. The cats spend most of the day outside just coming back in when it rains or for food, but they're inside overnight. He only whines/barks when we 1st leave or when we 1st get up in morning or get home n dont go straight into the room 2 them. He does settle down after a time. Would love to take him and Mystic 2 a training class but there are none local and we dont drive so cant get to one. Jen n gang xxx

Such terrible news, but Belle had the most fantastic, albeit short, retirement which is all a grey could ever ask for. Sleep tight little one xxx

Oh Tash, don't get me started on this subject! From one crazy lady to another, I've lost count of the amount of times mine have been jumped all over by an over exuberant or indeed the occasional nasty dog, and the owners just yell (usually from a distance) "don't worry he's just saying hello". I'm a responsible owner and as such my poor petrified Moo is muzzled and on a short lead, but this still doesn't seem to make much difference to some people. Glad Penny is ok, and hope your heart rate is back to normal now xxx

Hi Cindy, thanks for the lovely update. as regards the arthritis, my Monty dog ( who was not a grey ) had arthritis and he had to have medication and yet he was a very active happy and fit little man right up until cancer took him at the grand age of 15and a half. he used to come to the kennels and 'Monty test' the greys and walk with them right up until he died...so please don't worry about your gorgeous girl not having any quality of life she can be as active as the rest of them :)...its lovely to hear that she is doing so well and even more wonderful that you are considering a brother for her, hope i shall be there when you come to visit so i can say hello to you all and have a snuggle with your lovely girl. love to you all...Ina xxx

tell me about it...so many nightmare owners about...all mine do not like being pestered by dogs off lead and will bark and growl as they feel threatened by them, i have told owners over and over that they are the ones not controlling their dogs as they have them off lead and have no recall whatsoever, mine are on a short lead and i am in control, i no longer muzzle mine as they feel totally unable to defend themselves and have been in a situation where they were attacked by others and they could do nothing, makes me avoid parks and areas where there are so many irresponsible owners, and yes i will also rant at them if they cannot control their pets. wish there was such a thing that all dogs have to be on leads in public areas and the problem would be minimal. lots of love to you and Penny and the boys. xxx
