I can sympathise, I dread it when I see a dog coming towards us and our two are on the lead. Your reaction was perfectly natural given what happened and possibly with hindsight, the Collie wasn't the only one to eventually walk away with a tail between it's legs! Mand, Gent & Emily

Aaaaaauunnty Ruuuuuuthieeeee....mummy has spotted that I have a very big corn in one of my pads and as much as I love my vet he's not confident in what to do with them as mine are the first he's seen! (I know!!) Do you think if we came to the kennels you'd have a little look at it for me? Thank you. Big licks. Roxy Raz xxxxx PS - Mum says thanks to Mand and family. 🙂 xx

I have to agree! Charlie is fantastic when he meets other dogs on leads but he seems to panic a bit and starts crying when they are off the lead! Other dog owners say dont worry my dog is perfectly ok with other dogs and poor charlie has to but up with dogs running at him!!

Grrrr....how very frustrating for you. It is hard not to rant back so don't worry about looking the crazy lady. I know when we had Max I got so stresssed when dogs off the lead came rushing over to us, and then people would panic as soon as they saw him wearing a muzzle. I told them pretty quickly that I was doing my best as a responsible owner! Main thing is that Penny is ok. Hope you've calmed down now. xx

Oh Tash - my sympathy is with you. Greyhounds always seem to get the blame even when they are on the lead. Many owners let their dogs wander around and say they are ok but it is usually the dog off lead pestering the one on the lead 🙁

Mia (Splash)
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Just to update everyone on Mia! She is doing really well and her personality is emerging more and more the longer we have her. We've found a fantastic place to let her run free off the lead - a fully enclosed field where she has been able to run around to her heart's content and make friends with lots of other dogs which she absolutely loves - so much so that at some pont within the next few months we're very seriously thinking about getting her a "brother" whom she can play with so in the near future we'll come and look at the boy greyhounds an see if she takes to any of them! On the down side - the vet saw us again today and says that he's certain she has the onset of osteo-arthritis - fairly mild at this stage and easily controlled with medication though obviously not really entirely curable. I'm sure that some of you have had greyhounds with this problem and maybe you could reassure us that she will still be able to lead a full and active pain-free life for a lot of years yet? She certainly seems pretty active at the moment and full of fun! The vet also said incidentally that she looks magnificent compared to when he saw him the first time - her coat is so glossy and even though he says her bald patches won't ever be completely covered in fur again due to lack of hair follicles they have definitely filled out and she looks beautiful (especially in the lovely pink collar we bought her today!) See you soon when we come to have a look at the boys!!

Ruby (Pixie)
I’m Homed
we have now had Ruby for about 9 weeks and she seems to have settled really well into our family life. she loves playing especially with her big 'Ratty' soft toys and her squeakey burger. she enjoys her walks and stretches out on her bed afterwards. And she just loves her food and treats, she has expensive taste when it comes to treats as she really likes smoked salmon! She also seems to have taken well to our parents and friends that visit. she even watches when my mum & dad leave until their car has left my street. She also loves been tickled behind her ears....she would sit with us most of the day if we carried on tickling her. We are hoping to take her on holiday with us in Sept, so that will be real fun. We are having a really lovely and fun time with Ruby and I think she is with us. she's really has been one of the best choices we've ever made. xx

Ok, very cross, so just letting off some steam! Penny was just attacked by an off lead Collie while in the park (she is ok, I should add) the dogs owner was sat in a fenced off play area with her 2 grandchildren, while her dog wandered around outside. It had puffed itself up when sniffing Buddy and Jack, but they just ignored him (they were off lead, Penny was on a lead with me) but on the way back the dog came up to B and J growling, the lady said, "I hope that isn't you" I replied, "Yes it is" and then her dog lunged at Penny, luckily I had hold of Penny and got her as she snapped back. I asked the owner to ger her dog and she said I should keep my dog under control! I pointed out that she was on a lead and her's wasn't and she wasn't with it and she asked me what I was doing bringing a dog to a park which is aggressive with other dogs! Sooo cross, I had Penny under control, HER dog came over and went for her...some people, make me so mad...unfortunately I shouted back at this irrisponsible lady and probably looked like a nutter! Ahhh, better now, thanks for listening! xxxx
