Barney
I’m Homed
Let me give an update on this boy. Barney has been with us since Saturday afternoon. The time he had with Rosie and family has helped him with some of the house training. Thank you for that Rosie :-). Barney has had a busy day and a half all ready. We gave him a bath and a good shampoo and he looks great, he has a lovely fluffy coat. His thighs and bottom are quite bare. We need to train him with his name, so I have better control over him. For a 5 year old he is very playfull. He enjoys playing chase the ball, he likes to play with a fluffy pig that Charlotte has. We did the play bow. He likes to have a mad run in the garden and enjoyed some digging in the garden. My wife also mentioned that she played with him a number of times. Whilst it is still early days, behaviour wise he is very good. He is clean around the house, he had one accident but that was the first night with us. As far as I am concerned that is to be expected. He needs to learn some human table manners, he can reach the table top and, he also needs to learn what we consider out of bound areas for him. He is very easy to walk and he walks with a very positive, engaging and curious demeanour. In fact during our first walk, we came across a couple who are looking to adopt a greyhound beginning next year and Barney put his best paw forward :-). When he sees dogs in the distance he is curious. When they are close he is equally curious, he got a it scared with a couple of Pugs who started to bark at him. During yestardays park walk he was curious about a Labrador and he had a little lunge at him. For me this was quite easy to control. He saw many other dog breeds in the park but other then being curious we have not experienced any major responses. I think he found an aeroplane a family was playing with more interesting. I have seen Barney a number of times at the kennel before he was previously fostered and he was always very vocal. In our home he has not shown that behaviour. He whines a little now and then, but this is quite soft and not a problem. We just ignore it or take him out to the garden just to make sure he does not need a wee. I just had to walk one of my clients dogs. My wife recorded his behaviour and we need to train him to be alone.

Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
Well - not a good start to the morning! Alex went off with Sue to the vets to be neutered but his temperature was a bit high, so back he came and off when Champ who had almost had his bowl of food put in front of him!!! We turned the kitchen run from our 'Covid sign in' area back to an outdoor run and currently Caesar is sunbathing along with Tigger and Tony. Yvonne, Dave and Moira are in and have just gone out on a walk and it is time for grooming and enjoying this beautiful weather!

An early start for Ruth today, we were completely out of Burns so she went to the warehouse with Lisa B. There were sand run bookings, nail cutting and a viewing. The viewing resulted in handsome boy Alex being reserved, so very happy for him. Ruth was absolutely shattered after her early start to take Ritchie to Wales yesterday, the early start this morning, so we let her go home a little earlier today!!! Beautiful Belle came back from foster this morning, thanks so much for looking after her, she had been reserved and I am so very happy to say I did her homing this afternoon, she has everything set up in her new home for her arrival. Good luck beautiful girl. X Thanks so very much to Dave and Denise for all of their help today, as always very much appreciated. We have viewings booked for later in the week, fingers crossed for some more red or green signs. As always, stay safe and well everyone. Xx

Russ
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Last year we left Russ in the kennels for 2 days and he got very stressed. So we thought never again would we do that to him. We take him everywhere with us now and even brought a caravan for him. We have been away for a few days in Burnham on sea and Russ has really enjoyed himself. He loves the beach and waits patiently if we go in any shops or sit outside. He had doggy ice cream yesterday and treats me like his personal slave. Russ loves his family very much and where we go he goes.

We had a busy day today... Ruth and Andy took Ritchie off to his new home in Wales. 🙂 Have seen some photos of him with his new friend Fizz tonight. Wishing them both lots of fun times together. Xxx Our wonderful Sanka went off to his new home this morning. His new furry sister Zoe was waiting at home for him. 🙂 Wishing him a very happy new life. 🙂 Xxx I met new arrivals Josh and Shane, both great lads. It was brilliant to see Shane reserved. He is a very handsome big lad, all 37kg of him! Xxx Later this afternoon little Cassy's family came in to take her home. She was a little nervous to leave the kennels. It's been a big upheaval for her over the last couple of weeks. Leaving her racing kennels to come to Daybreaks and then going off to a new home. She has a lovely family to take care of her, sure it won't take her long to settle into her new life. 🙂 Xxx The Saturday morning Training classes started in the sand run again today. If you are interested in joining please give Julie a call on 07747 754 759 🙂 Thanks so much to everyone who helped out today. Thanks Jess for feeding dogs, cats etc and doing everything this afternoon! :))) Xxxx

Whishing Sanka a very happy new life. Such a lovely boy...I will miss him! After he had been out for a last toilet break in the evening, he used to walk back to his own kennel, jump on the bed and wait for a biscuit! Lots of love to you, be happy! Xxx

Wendy I'm so sorry poor Lottie has gone to rainbow bridge. I remember when she arrived at Daybreaks and there was some debate about her name as nobody liked Edwina. Look back at all the good times she had with you Jed and Joe. What a lovely life she had. Another bright star shines, take care Alan & Paddy xx
