Over the Rainbow Bridge
I very rarely get to go on a walk, but this afternoon I managed to! I took Josh on an afternoon walk, he is very gentle on the lead, not bothered by loud noises from the construction site and only showed a little interest in the squirrel in the rugby club! All in all a lovely blue boy. Don't think he will be with us too long. Xx

Daybreaks Diary!

Another lovely Spring day meant 2 walks for our residents in some beautiful sunshine. This morning saw the arrival of 2 very handsome boys - Shane & Josh. Both stood beautifully for their arrival checks and were very well behaved in the bath - they also tucked in with great gusto to their meals!! Ruth was kept busy attending to doggies poorly paws, and the sand run was in almost constant use again. What a difference a week has made to Cassy and Champ. Little Cassy is so much more confident and happy, she does love to be out and definitely loves her food. She is off to her forever home tomorrow, her new family have got themselves a little cutie. Although Champ is still wary and initially backs away from you when you enter his kennel, he will now be handled without a slip lead, and his tail wags like mad when you speak to him - he does so want to be friends but is just a bit reticent still. He had a viewing today, so keep everything crossed for him. Ritchie was not happy at being back in kennels bless him, so he spent the day in the office with Tiggy, Tony, Momma & Caesar - it was a bit crowded to say the least, but he was so much more settled and at ease having some canine company. Again, fingers crossed that there will be some good news for him very soon. Well another weekend is here, there are viewings booked and some of those red signs are due to turn green so a busy couple of days in prospect. Don't forget the online Easter Pet show closes at midday tomorrow, head on over to the Facebook page to check it out and submit your entries - there are lots of lovely rosettes to be won whilst raising vital funds to help Daybreaks boys & girls. Shall raise a nice glass of wine later to welcome our new boys, wish luck to those being viewed and those going home over the weekend, and to all the volunteers who are helping us to look after the Daybreaks residents. Ritchie has gone back to the kennels today. This is through no fault of his own and it was always the plan that this was the latest day I could keep him with my other commitments. The fact that he has stayed as long as he could with me is testament to how fond I had become of him and what a lovely dog he is. I have thoroughly enjoyed having him and he has been a wonderful companion on many, many walks. He has been clean in the house, apart from one minor incident, which wasn't entirely his fault. I took Ritchie on short term foster because he is very unhappy with kennel life, resulting in him being a bit vocal. Please do not let that put you off him. He is a very affectionate dog with lots of love to give. He would like a home, where someone is around for most of the day and his time being left alone can be built up slowly. He would also like someone who enjoys walking. He is happy walking a couple of hours a day, although I'm sure he would be happy with a bit less in exchange for his forever sofa. He can tolerate other breeds when he sees them in the park and will walk companionably side by side with other breeds, but can be a bit grumpy to start with. He has improved so much in the last two weeks though and he would like someone happy to keep building his confidence with other dogs. I really hope that he gets his forever home really soon. Wishing him all the very best xx

Was lovely popping over to the kennels today, even though jet doesn't agree as was grumbling about having his teeth, nails and ears done! I think I drive him dotty constantly fussing over him...I know it does my husband...all he ever says is maybe if I had 2 more legs and grew a tail id get as much love and fuss...yes more than likely! Apologies for all the scurff on his fur when I took his fleece off, he looked a right unkept scruffy monkey, believe me he's not, he's worshipped and adored, just need to wash that fleece I think lol! Thank you for his pedicure Ruth! Xxx

Met you today samson and what a total stunner you are! Ok your black, huge and a boy so you tick all boxes for me straight away but you really are lovely and think you wanted mia my 18 month old daughter to be your new mommy! You seemed to make a bee line for her! Of course mia thought that was fabulous! Can't understand why you haven't got your forever home yet but hoping it'll come soon xxx

What a gorgeous sunny day, this was unfortunately tinged with the sadness of hearing that Brodie (Mr Magoo) had crossed Rainbow bridge after only six short but juch loved weeks in his home, so terribly sad. Thanks to the Wednesday walkers for their help this morning and to Dave, Denise and Chris for their help too. The car park looks remarkably different this evening, much tidier, Dave had a major clean up, when he starts there's no stopping him!!! Fingers crossed for Samson, he has a follow-up viewing tomorrow. Champ is very slowly starting to gain a little more in confidence, he so desperately wants to be your friend but can't just make the brave decision to follow up, he is gehthere albeit slowly. As always, stay safe and well. Xx
