Popped into the kennels this morning to drop something off, and met this gorgeous boy. Well - I am in love again!!! What a stunner - he lapped up all the fuss & cuddles I could offer, and is one of those souls who looks directly into your eyes, and captures your heart. I know he was quite stressed and overwhelmed on his arrival on Tuesday - but he is now a happy chappy to be at Daybreaks whilst waiting for his lovely new home. xx

Thank you all, Tess has had problems before and she had a scan which showed no problems. After that she stopped for a while but the last week she has been moving from bed to bed and she had always wet so it was getting to be a problem for her and us. The Vet has prescribed Incurin Tablets 1/2 a tablet each day and we have to phone him Monday and if it is no better we can up to 1 a day. So we will see how things go , hopefully the tablets will work and Tess will be more comfortable. She has gained a nice new bed anyway. Thanks again.

Hi Tessie's Mom, my Twiggy also had a blader problem. The vet prescribed Incurin Tablets and Propalin Syrup for her. They were really successful and she had no side effects. Do hope the medication will help Tess. Xxx

    I’m Homed

A very different day today, much quieter than Sunday when you didn't get a minutes break in the busyness, but still felt quite busy. It was lovely to get updates on the recently homed hound, all are doing amazingly well. It was great to see Caesar today, Erik came in with him and Charlotte to collect some food, he is doing well (apart from a little altercation with Barney this morning). Thanks as always to Denise, Dave and the Wednesday walkers for their help today. Our new arrival from yesterday is the gorgeous Phoenix, he is such an affectionate lad. Hoping you are all staying safe and well. X

Well Penny has made herself at home, she has decided that Joes ears need cleaning on a regular basis with a good lick, that he doesn’t eat quick enough and obviously needs help with this and that his bed is far too big for one hound, Joe I think has realised that this young girl is high maintenance bless him he has been so good with her if a little off his food at the moment

Hi there I have no experience of bladder control tablets with grey's, but I had Springer Spaniels for years and one of them had similar problems to Tess when she got to her age, The vet gave her some tablets which I found out later were a form of HRT to strengthen her bladder. It seemed to help but then I think it was too strong and she went into heart failure. It may have been that she was really unlucky but it's always difficult medicating older dogs for anything really. I think they are like us older ladies with bladder's sometimes lol If you trust your vet you have to give it ago. I hope my experience helps. All we can do is our best xx

Hi, we had the same problem with our first Greyhound Bridget (years ago now), she as only 7 at the time and it happened all of a sudden, she was weeing when she was relaxed on her bed and she didn't know she was doing it bless her. The vet gave her some medication and it stopped as quickly as it started, hope Tess gets sorted, she's beautiful xxxx

He is amazing, as he is still so young I was expecting to have some issues, but nothing. I feel guilty that he is so good and I (along with Ruth and Kate of course) have to give advice and help to those who are experiencing a more difficult transition to home life for their hounds. Yes, more photos will be coming shortly!! Xx

Hello everyone, just after some advice about Tess. She has at times had bladder weakness but at the moment it is happening several times a day. We took her to the vet today and he said that she is ok and it is down to her old age. He has prescribed some tablets which we get tomorrow to start her on. Has anyone had success with medication controlling or helping this problem. Any advice welcome . Apart from the weeing problem she is still active (for 12 yrs) and a happy girl, she loves her food and snoozing. Thanks for reading.

Cooper update! He is the most amazing boy, he has settled in fantastically, he is just perfect. He is clean in the house, sleeps downstairs at night, he does have the option to come up to bed but chooses not to. He is a real food monster, he is getting better and understands that food is readily available and not rationed! The counter surfing is almost non existent now!! He gets on really well with his new brothers. He has decided that he likes to get the surplus muzzles from the conservatory and put them in his bed, he doesn't chew them he just likes to have them by him!!

    I’m a Sponsor Dog

It has been a nice time so far. The two foster boys really enjoy their walks so it can be 3 normal walks and a short walk to pick-up Sofia. Caesar is learning about the area and enjoying what he sees. He is such a curious boy. During the walk he is mostly with his head up walking tall being very attentive to all that he sees. Last weekend was an adventure weekend, we had to go to Northamptonshire, which is an hours drive away. He was very good in the car stood up initially but then settled down. It was his first long drive with us mind you it was my first long drive. He took it in his stride. As Charlotte (our Greyhound) has been there before she was a nice relaxed companion her Caesar. There are two Italian Greyhounds there and that was stressful for Caesar. He did really well, he is getting better with other breeds. We had no incidents or lunges, I think Caesar was sometimes more scared then the Italian Greyhounds. When we did an evening walk it was interesting how his instinct kicked in. The 2 Italian Greyhounds were of the lead and running around having fun. As you can imagine Caesar wanted to join in and got very excited. We also have been doing some recall training with Caesar. He is making progress with that, his manners in the house are also improving. I am trying to calm his manic eating down with placing a cup over his food so it is a bit more effort. He has worked out that he can lift the cup and get to the food that way, Barney has not figured this out yet. We picked-up Barney from the Kennel. I am not sure but Caesar really did not like going into the office. He is happy standing outside, I could only get him in briefly with a treat. He even prefers to stand in the rain then be in the office, hahaha. Today He was happily relaxing in the office lying on a comfortable bed 🙂 Yesterday morning Caesar throw-up a couple of times. I am not panicking, it is what sometimes happens, but during the walk he was also a bit less enthusiastic then what he would normally be so I just give him some more cuddles. Today, Barney and Caesar had a fight, Caesar trying to muscle in Barney’s food, I suspect, I had to get in there quick to avoid injuries. Barney has shrugged it off but Caesar is a sensitive soul and was quite offended, his pride has been hurt. This afternoon they are happily lying next to one another as if nothing happened.
