Ritchie

Ritchie has been for a walk with a medium sized mixed breed dog this afternoon. After an initial grumble, he walked very happily side by side with the other dog for the next couple of hours. He actively wanted to walk next to this dog and would veer towards him if he started going in a different direction. They even had some off lead time together in the garden. This is the second time that Ritchie has walked in close proximity to a non grey. I think with careful introduction and positive experiences with another dog, he could amiably pass time with other breeds. I have continued working with Ritchie on his desire to follow me. I had been practising leaving him downstairs when I went upstairs and this was going well. I applied the same principal of signalling to him that I wanted him to stay where he was when I got up to leave the room, but intended to stay downstairs. A couple of times I had to take him back to the room I left him in, but he then cottoned on. There is a notable difference when I get up and walk away without acknowledging him and when I signal to him to stay. It is almost like he thinks, Okay, she's told me she's leaving and I have to stay, I don't need to worry. It is also worth noting that when I do signal to him that I want him to stay, he doesn't whine. If I get up and just leave him, he will. As I have said before, Ritchie is a quick learner and when he knows what is expected of him, he is eager to please. He is adorable and has the most handsome face xx

I am both shocked and saddened to read that poor Brodie (Magoo)has gone to rainbow bridge so soon. I feel very sad for Beryl and family. At least Brodie was much loved by his family, seems like only yesterday we were singing happy birthday to him at Daybreaks. Run free at the bridge xx

I can't believe beautiful, super Brodie has gone to Rainbow Bridge. Heartbroken for him and his lovely family. Such sad news, but I am so happy that he found his forever home with them. Desperately sad to read this awful news. My thoughts are with Beryl, Roger & Paul at this difficult time. Run fast at the Bridge fella, at least you got to live the good life - even if only for a short time. xx

I am absolutely devastated to say that Brodie unfortunately passed away very unexpectedly after only 6 weeks in his new home. He had started coughing and an emergency consultation at the vets found a massive tumour in his throat. Sadly whilst they were trying to treat him, his heart stopped beating. My heartfelt sympathy goes to Beryl, Roger and Paul who had only had him for such a short time and loved him so much. He was loving life. Thank you for making his last 6 weeks of retirement wonderful. Run free fella xxxx

Samson is a really lovely lad. He met a family today and was very affectionate with everyone. The children were quite young and he was very gentle with them but they were not very keen on having their faces licked! He obviously thought they would like an extra wash! :))) Xxx

Cassy decided she didn't really like the duvet she had on her bed last night and decided to create a snow scene with it! Even her water bowl didn't escape and was filled with white fluff! :)) Xxx

Daybreaks Diary!

James took Sanka off to the vets first thing this morning for his neutering operation and collected him again this afternoon. So grateful for his help. 🙂 Sanka was a good boy and all being well will be off to his new home in just a few days. :)) Xx Norman took Alex to the park for a change of scene. He throughly enjoyed himself and had a good snooze afterwards! 🙂 Xx Lucy's lovely Ellie "helped" Yvonne and Declan sort the donated bedding. She lay on their nicely folded pile of blankets! She did look very comfy! Xxx Lucy had two pamper customers who looked and smelt beautiful afterwards. 🙂 Xxx This afternoon Samson and Belle both had visitors. Belle has been reserved again...fingers crossed for her this time. Xxx Thanks so much to everyone for their help today! Xxx

Hi Holly your Mr Sanka was a very good boy at the vets today. The nurses loved him. :)) He was a little sleepy when he came back to the kennels this afternoon, but he did enjoy his dinner! Sending him my cuddle tonight. Xxx
