    I’m Homed

I had to leave a comment as I was knocked to the floor when Nooney was returned today. She has been in a home since the end of February and had 'changed her owners life'. She had been treated like a special girl - treats a plenty - even allowed to sleep on the owners bed at night. Today she became disposable - She had been left for a few hours and had torn down some net curtains and messed in the house..... maybe she had been spooked by something - we will never know. Help and advice was not asked for. Maybe fate has asked for her to find another family who will love her forever.

Mannie's a lovely happy boy who seems to have settled in quickly as he was spark out, feet skywards this afternoon! It looks like he may well be house trained too as his kennel was spotless this morning and this would tie in with his last race being 18 months ago. Good luck gorgeous boy. x

Hello Fenn, if you go into greyhound data for Lenny and click on his races, it shows you a summary and comments of what happened. Unfortunately for our boy Lenny it looks like he finished his last race lame :0( This doesn't necessarily mean a problem for his mobility or health, but it may have affected his racing timings by a millisecond, hence his retirement. He is gorgeous isn't he? Em x

Aw - why only 9 races? An injury or just preferred to enjoy the view? He's lovely . . .

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Mindy came home in a drowsy state after having her only good leg out of four stiched having cut it between the toes. Has it bandaged & only in the garden until checked on Monday. The vet also looked at the dew claw, not a lot could be done but was clipped shorter.

I'm pleased to say that Lara (now Darla) has settled in well during her first week. She gets on well with our other grey-enjoys walks and a run in a field not far from home.

Please don't feel too bad, I guess it just wasn't meant to be this time. There are so many lovely Greyhounds looking for a home I am sure you will find one who will be just right for you and your other Grey. Ralphie will be fine, you know Ruth will always find a home for her Daybreaks Beauties! Kind regards xx

Dear Fenn please don't feel guilty as you have done the right thing by him, he obviously is a much more active hound than the one you already have and needs a lifestyle to suit which you can't offer him, at least you had the heart to look at him in the first place. Ralphie is a gorgeous lad and i am sure he will find his home soon. love Ina x

Oh I feel so guilty - it was me who took Ralphie home for the night. So I do want to share my brief experience because he is a really lovely boy - he was very good and chilled in the house - immediately made himself at home on a sofa and snuggled next to me for a long stint of evening tv. No mess inside the house. Quite an explorer - wasn't the kitchen fun, and the barricade at the bottom of the stairs was such an easy jump! But very responsive to a "no". He just has a huge and healthy appetite for exploring outdoors. I think he will need lots of good walks - he repeatedly pawed the front door to get out there and explore. As you all say, someone who is more able than me to help him get used to it (which probably won't take long) is what he needs. I'll now go and do some penance . . . . good luck Ralphie x
