Eoghan (Blue)
Over the Rainbow Bridge
I do believe in fate. Blue....who will revert hopefully to Eoghan....is another of my grandchildren. I remember him well and was only talking about him and the others with Jo last week. Naturally I am gutted that he is going through this disruption but need I say that he is coming home to be with Gran and his brother and stepbrother!!!There is no way I would allow 1 grandchild to be favoured over another and I know my Melly would want this. Mel did meet him with the others in 2016 so that is something. Maybe he sensed something was amiss and decided he need to go a few weeks ago so his son could come home because I would have been devastated had this happened whilst Mel was still here as I would not have been able to have 4. I am grateful to the gentleman who has given my lad a nice home for 4 years and whilst I can not take away his pain of loss I hope he will take comfort from knowing that our boy will be with his blood family and not just new strangers. I will certainly update him and send photos. It looked as though Blue remembered his brother from the huge wagging tail & sniffs and he also seemed to like Teddy very much. So having found out recently that my granddaughter is now rehomed locally with Shirley, my 2 grandsons are with me all I can hope for is that Highfire Fuzzy is still well and happy in his home. I am hoping that maybe a family reunion will happen sometime next year in the sand run. That would be so cool but for the moment Christmas without Mel will be far more bearable with yet another reminder of him to look at. Blue has the same pinky bit on his nose as his Dad. Keeping all of our fingers and toes crossed for success. I am sure Ruth will back me up....if anyone ever gets the opportunity to have real blood family, go for it. It is such a different kind of joy.

Blue was returned to the kennels today. He has been in a home for four years and very sadly his owner is no longer able to take care of him. However, he has been fostered and I am certain this will be his forever home! We wish his previous owner well. He adored Blue and was very upset to have to let him go but did what was best for his lovely boy. Xxx

Cello, I'm so very sad I won't see you at the kennels with your lovely sister Millie and delinquent brothers Murphy and Drew again. Such a special girl. Thinking of Shirley and Richard, I know you will miss her so much. God Bless his newest Angel. Xxx

For those who know Cello and for those who remember the little girl who visited the airport to inspect a luxury airplane. I have to sadly say that Cello took her last flight today to rainbow bridge. She was definitely one on her own and knew her own mind. Our vets had nicknamed her 'the duchess' which was her to a tee. Will miss you Cello, but you will always be part of us. Now go find Guinness, tell him he's had enough peace now, you're back to keep him company.

I am so grateful to Kate, Jo and all the fabulous volunteers who have kept the kennels going whilst I have been poorly - yet again. I hope to be back very soon! Please can I remind anyone thinking of visiting the kennels, for whatever reason, to call and book an appointment slot as we have to be able to practice social distancing - for the safety of everyone!

Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
I have no faith in the weather reports. It was supposed to stop raining today at 9.30 to 10am this morning. .....didn't happen! So the photoshoot turned into a very soggy affair. Thanks so very much to Sharron and Helen for braving the awful conditions and taking their wonderful photos. A massive thanks too to Sharrons lovely mom who made Christmas gift bags for the dogs and to Andy and wife with Trish greyhound who also donated gift bags with a lovely new fleece blanket, treats and a tin of fish to go out with homed and foster dogs. It is so very kind of people to think of us and the dogs. We are so very grateful. We had visitors to collect calendars and Christmas cards and treats for their dogs. It was so very busy today, at the last count I think I had cut the nails of ten dog's (this is my all-time favourite job......NOT)!!! We had more donated items delivered, thanks so very much. Thanks also for the fantastic cash donations given today, very generous. The lovely Penny was signed up and went off home, she had been on foster with a couple of people so already knows the ropes. Thanks to Rosie for having her since her spey, her new family are lovely, we did have such a laugh waiting for Rosie to bring her back to the kennels! It was so very cold again, even my thermal socks and vest (sorry, not a pretty sight) didn't seem to have the desired effect. I have to say thanks to Lynne, Si and Dave for all of their help today, as always very much appreciated. Once again, stay safe and well everyone. Jo xx

Thank you for your kind comments regarding Wendy. With patience and love it goes to show that even the most timid of dogs can flourish. I’m blessed that I have been able to offer Wendy a loving home and watch her grow in confidence and character. Long may the great work of Daybreaks continue.
