Yesterday it became a year since we lost our Barney. We still think about him and remember how special he really was. What happened to him was devastating and it left us heartbroken. We still haven’t fully recovered. Everyone who knew him saw how special he was. There will never be another grey like Barney. He was so nervous when we first had him and to see how happy he was with us just before his accident really melted our hearts and we knew we helped him. Barney we still love you and thank you for allowing us to be in your life. Also thanks to everyone at Daybreaks and Klaire as without you we wouldn’t have met that beautiful boy. Xx Russ we are so grateful to have you as you have helped us in many ways. Barney would have loved you and I know he guided us to you. Thank you for keeping us interested with your weird obsessions with the washing up bowl, the bin and your burns travel container. Xx

Daybreaks Diary!

A stinky, wet, cold horrible day! Four dogs in the kennels...yay, thanks to our intrepid Wednesday walkers for this mornings walks. Thanks so much to them. This afternoon was a stroll around the sand run. Molly had a viewing with a lovely lady and her daughter, they had decided a girl was what they wanted....we all know the best made plans and all of that....they reserved Trooper!!! He has the personality they were looking for and he fell in love with the daughter as did she with him (she has done so much research into greyhounds, I was so impressed). Thanks to Dave, Denise and Chris for all of their help today, by the time Dave and I arrived this morning, Denise had the four dogs fed, waters and kennels cleaned. As always, stay safe and well. Please also remember we are running an appointment only system so please call in advance before coming to the kennels. Xx

Shani, Ken and Douggie, I am heartbroken to hear you have had to let Dexter go. :(( Xx He was such a character and I know how much you all adored him. He had a fabulous happy life with you and I loved hearing what he had been getting up to! Thinking of you all, lots of love to you and to Dougie who has lost his brother. God Bless your lovely lad. Dexter

It is with a very heavy heart that I'm saying this, but yesterday we said goodbye to our beloved Dexter, at 12 1/2 we know he had a great life with us and up until 2 weeks ago was still the feisty, bouncy boy he had always been, a bit wobbly at times but mostly ok for a handsome boy of his age. His legs finally began letting him down to the point we had to make that awful decision to let him go to join his beloved brother Jack over the bridge. No matter that he never liked other dogs, not even Greyhounds sometimes, but he was a gentle soul who loved people and was oh so gentle with the grand children, he absolutely loved his food and walks and was a real snuggle monster that could lean for England. Thank you Daybreaks for letting us adopt this very special boy, he has brought us so much joy over the years, we are utterly devastated but at the same time know that we have made the right decision to let him go. We will miss you so much, you will be forever in our hearts, goodnight Doodles, sleep tight until we meet again. Love Mom, Pops ad Douggie xxxx

Prince

It was great to see Prince and Bocko today. They get along so well together. Bocko can sometimes get very stressed and his owner says Prince has been so good for him. It's obvious how much much Prince loves his new brother. Several times he stood resting his head on Bockos back and when they went into the sand run Bocko was jumping up and down at the gate....Prince studied what he was doing and decided he would have a go too, his legs were not quite coordinated and he looked very funny! Wishing them both lots of happy times together. Xxx

A very busy day wchich saw three new arrivals. 🙂 First to arrive was Topper a very happy lad who knocked me over in his exuberant greeting! :)) Next was the tall and handsome Zac. He really loves to lean! Finally pretty girl, Molly arrived. A little timid but she seems a very sweet natured young lady. In between Prince popped in to complete his adoption paperwork! He and Bocko get on so well! :)) xx Thanks so much to Shirley, Richard and Declan for bathing them all and carrying out health checks. Xxx Xxx
