A big happy 12th birthday to wonderful Paddy. We arrived at Daybreaks this morning to a chorus of happy birthday dear Paddy. He then enjoyed a little party with his friends and family, tucking in to sardine cake and home made doggy biscuits. Big birthday hugs woofs go to Cello who is also 12 today and Drew a youthful 7. Paddy managed his dinner when we got home after all his eatins and is now sleeping. Apart from occasional wobbly back legs he's a very happy boy and can still manage a run or two in the garden in his own unique style. Amazingly on his birthday we welcomed in another Paddy to Daybreaks today so our Paddykins will be Paddy senior! Old guys rule xx

    I’m Homed

Today I walked Vic in Sutton Park. Because of his healing hock I took it easy with driving and walking. Whilst going to the car I checked if he is toy or food orientated, neither was of interest to him, he just wanted to go 🙂 As mentioned, I did take it easy with driving as he was standing most of the drive. This is unusual as most will lie down. On the way back he did lie down. I suspect that he is not a keen driver (traveller). The park was fascinating to him. He was a bit like a puppy very alert and observant keen to walk. You would almost not belief he had a broken Hock. I did a small walk with him. He still met lots of people including cyclists, runners, toddlers no reaction from him. He did meet two Chihuahua, who scared him with there barking. He was fine and just ignored them as you would expects good canine behaviour to be. We also met a border collie he was interested in him but they were passed to quickly. Then we met a Miniature Schnauzer they had a good sniff and then Vic lots interest. Vic also noticed a Labrador in the distance and made it clear he wanted to meet. Vic is a strong boy, but easily manageable for me. He seems very excited to be out and about which makes him pull. This can be trained out of him, no problem. Vic was out for the first time in the big world, he behaved perfectly to all we met, he is observant and alert. I belief Vic did brilliantly for his first walk I am really proud of his achievement today. Well done Vic, I hope to see reserved on you soon.

I heard today that Mike sadly passed away. My thoughts are with his family for whom it must be heart breaking. I feel privileged to have met and did my first Sutton Park walk with him. Such a nice dog I don't think I soon forget I had to stop the car to check if he was fine after the walk to see he was quietly relaxing. Lots of hugs and cuddles for Mike and his family.

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

It is with immense sadness I have to write that Mike has gone to Rainbow Bridge. His family are devastated and I am heartbroken for them and for Mike. He was such a very happy lad, full of life and he was loving being in his forever home. Shortly after his adoption in July this year, he was diagnosed with terminal bone cancer. He passed away earlier this week, very peacefully in the vets garden with his family by his side. Xxx I hope his family take comfort in knowing that thanks to them his last few weeks were filled with happiness, love and much care. We are so very grateful to them for all they did for Mike and for giving him a wonderful home...even if for only a short time. He was a real favourite during his time at Daybreaks and will never be forgotten. God Bless you Mike. Kate Xxx
