Raven
I’m Homed
Can't wait to meet Raven on Sunday. She's Crash's great granddaughter which I think makes myvSam her great uncle - or half great uncle anyway. I haven't quite worked out the relationship with Nadie - Nadie is Crash's granddaughter. If she's anything like Nadie she'll be very alert and clever. The Crash genes make for very good looking houndies. x

Over the Rainbow Bridge
Flash popped into the kennels with Rosie this morning. I got the chance to give her a cuddle and wish her a happy new life. She will be off to her new home tomorrow! She has been a firm favourite with us all during her stay at Daybreaks. She had her X-ray earlier this week. The results didn't show anything untoward. She does have a plate and several screws holding her leg together but the vet said all looked ok with them. Her exercise will need to be limited to what she is comfortable with and she may need pain killers from time to time, but she should still be able to live a very happy retirement. :)) Xxx

Thanks to Erik for taking Yardy out for a walk in the park. They were very lucky and managed to miss the rain! Hoping this weekend someone will come along and fall head over heeels for him. :)) He has had enough of sitting in a kennel and is more than ready to start the next chapter of his life! Xxx

Yardy, today you and I had another outing. I decided to take you to Kingsbury Water Park as it is a bit busier there and I could see how you faired in that park. I will not repeat myself when it comes to the good curious traveller you are or that you are a strong boy who is excitable. Today, we did a longer walk then last time, it was about an hour. What I noticed during the walk is that initially you pull strongly, because you are excited. The longer in the walk you start to pull less. If you want to go somewhere you will try and get there. Your attention gets drawn by small white triggers in the distance. Very similar to our Charlotte who would get excited about a white plastic bag in the distance but when she got there it would, almost, be a disappointment for her. We met lots of cyclists, children on different types of bicycle’s and tricycles. We met several families, young and old. Nothing really fazed you. You took it all in your stride. We even saw and heard a jet ski doing its stuff, a bit noisy but again it did not bother you. I noticed when we were standing still you like to lean. Yardy thanks for the walk today. I am disappointed that you are still in the kennel I really believed you would be out of there very quickly. Specially as you are such a handsome and loving boy. I hope you will find your forever home soon.

Jack
I’m Homed
Jack had a bit more relaxed day, but seemed a little unsettled today. However, lets start with last night as Jack got a good telling of from Charlotte, who I think was a little jealous after all the activity I did with Jack during the day. Jack got a bit scared so needed some reassuring. Charlotte got a telling off and after defiantly laying down on Jack’s bedding Charlotte went upstairs in a strop. Greyhounds can be such sensitive souls. In the morning Jack kept me busy with cleaning. When we woke up we went down stairs and I took him out for him to relief himself which he did I belief he even had a poo, so well done Jack. The positive reinforcement was a bit premature when he came in the house he did a wee near the food bowls. They were given food and after the food he did it again near the food bowls. Jack needs to learn and so do we as humans and this can take time. Sofia, our daughter was quite busy and noisy in the morning running around but Jack did not flinch just looked up as if to say what are you doing. After the busy early morning Jack and I got ready to go to the kennel for me to do a walk with one of the other dogs. He was not very keen to go in the car but still jumped in himself, well done jack. The traveling is really no problem at all. Jack was quite pleased to see some of the other dogs, he also inspected the kitchen and he was especially keen on the bin with food. Jack managed to take some bread from the bin. Unfortunately for Jack I took it from his mouth as I do with Charlotte. Jack stayed in the kennel whilst I was away with another dog. The journey back was very wet but as always Jack just lay down and did not hear or see him. When we come home, he went straight inside just lay down on hi bedding. Ohh we did have another accident with wee. For the rest of the afternoon he has simply been relaxing. I had to do shopping whilst my wife stayed home and on my return I was told he had not made a sound lay down on Charlotte’s bed upstairs. During the evening Jack switched between upstairs and downstairs. He stayed downstairs whilst we were eating to be close to the food. He was really good and lay down on his bedding rather then hovering around the table. Food was given and then taken out for a wee and poo. Jack has generated possible interest which is brilliant, however, this is by no means certain. Please if you like Jack make an appointment to see him, he will simply want company and loving reassurance he is great with children and be such a great companion dog.

Dad has builders in, Oh they are so lovely, I love them, I love everyone they are my friends and they love it when I jump up at them, paws on the chest and give my loving eyes, Celia is a bit scared actually which is funny because when they go she thinks she rules the world, but I think she might be in trouble becuase she stole thier pencil and Dad had to take it from her but she had broken it anyway , Im fine thanks for asking and I'm quiet happy now Dad is finally managing to sort out our home... again , I'll never forget all that water.

It all too exciting here, Dad is finally getting people in after the flood to fix the house and they are leaving overnight some amazing toys for me to play with, Paintbrushes, Pencils, drill bits their toy box is much better than mine but Dad says its thiers and not mine and I shouldn't touch it, they do scare me a bit and I am a bit nervous when they are here but when they have finished for the night they leave me all this stuff to play with so they must be nice humans.Carrie and JessJess said they are also writing comments

Jack

Jack had an eventful day today with lots of traveling. We had a good start to the day, Jack is starting to understand that he needs to do his wee and poo in the garden. So during the night no accidents and first thing in the morning to the garden for some much needed relief. We had a great walk in the morning and his stool is very good. I have now noticed on two separate occasions that he does not react to cats, not even lifting his head. He may be cats friendly but that can be confirmed at the kennel. As mentioned, Jack did a lot of traveling today. My wife needed to go into the office in Birmingham today so in the morning Jack come along to Birmingham. Next stop was Pets at home in Tamworth. We had a walk through the shop no bad behaviour at all. He enjoyed the shopping and then of home again. The rest of the afternoon he was relaxing on his bed only to raise his head when I was cooking in the kitchen. In the afternoon, Jack come along to pick my wife up. That was quite an experience for him. He had to go on the a footbridge to cross a very busy road. He needed a little bit of reassurance, but he did great. In the city he also coped well with the busses, trams, cars, the beeping, sirens and not to forget those two-legged creatures called humans. He found it all very fascinating. During the early evening he has been relaxing, we did find a poo in the house we are not sure when that happened, but as with any dog we also need to learn when they indicate they want to relief themselves. It is so easy to forget how used we are to our own dog(s) and how WE learned their signals and non-verbal communication. We wanted to give him a bath but maybe we do that tomorrow as it already has been a very busy day with lots of new experiences. I am incredibly pleased how quickly he has settled. Jack really is a truly kind soul.
