Jordan has unfortunately been returned today and his owner is very upset. He was homed in May 2019 but he has been suffering with separation anxiety. We feel he needs a home with another greyhound(s). He is brilliant with children, loves his cuddles, perfect on the lead but does need socialisation with other breeds.

Popped into the kennels to drop some fish off that I had collected, lovely to see the great volunteers and Ruth and her team, it's been too long!! Amber and Jet had their nails clipped and had some time in the sand run with Joe. What a stunning boy, someone is going to be very lucky, he played happily with Amber and Jet and was beginning to recognise his name and come when called so will be fairly easy to train......

    I’m Homed

Daybreaks was a hive of activity today!! Despite the fact it was her official day off, Ruth came in and the "spring clean" carried on with great gusto! Poor Linford, or should I say Jasper, was carted off to the Vet this morning for his castrate - he was not happy at missing out on his breakfast bless him! Jo went off to collect him late this afternoon, he is fine and only had 1 tooth removed so is all good to go out to his new home very soon. When we lost the Swan office last month, every spare inch at the kennels was turned into a temporary storage area, and we have been gradually working through everything ever since, sorting & tidying, allocating things for fundraising and culling the things that you look at and think "what on earth are we keeping that for!!" The residents joined us in turn out in the sand run for playtime during the morning, as we tackled the donated items and the summer house. I wore my Director's hat again this morning too, as we prepared a short video clip as an entry to a Christmas competition. Starring Tig & Ruth, it only took about 5 takes to get it in the can - Tig behaved beautifully throughout, but Ruth ........ lol!!! We ended up sellotaping the script to my chest so she could read it as I filmed - the things you do!! Keep your fingers crossed - you never know, and you have to be in it to win it as they say! Many thanks for everyone's help and hard work today - we're getting there. It was lovely to meet our newbies today. I can see why Belle has been snapped up already - what a beauty. She has the cutest little overbite which is barely noticeable unless you look under her chin - but as she loves to look right up into your eyes with her gorgeous brown eyes, it's easy to spot. The internet is still playing up so sadly we cant get Jo's details on the website - but I can tell you he is a stunning black boy, so calm and cuddly and he will look right at you and give out kisses - he is gorgeous. We had a viewing this afternoon, and the family are returning tomorrow with Dad in tow to walk our 2 black boys - so keep fingers crossed that one of them bags himself a new home. Another weekend, another glass of wine - and another wish that our residents forever sofas are just around the corner. Cheers one and all - stay safe. Angie xxx

A busy day with a warehouse run, a big donation of food from Pets at Home a temperamental internet connection and two new arrivals!...Poor Jo a lovely, three year old black, very handsome lad also arrived with Belle this morning. Unfortunately Ruth couldn't get her phone to give up his photo to put on the website. I'm sure one will turn up tomorrow. He is a happy friendly boy. I think I look best with the "Reserved" sign covering my head! :))) How exciting for gorgeous Belle! She chose her prospective new Dad for herself!! She kept following him around the small run and standing right next to him. Then she looked up at him with her fabulous eyes several times and he was well and truly smitten! She willl meet the rest of the family on Saturday, fingers crossed. Xxx

    I’m Homed

Well Yardy, we had an adventure today. I will be honest, I met you last week and you are an excitable and lively young lad. Hence, I have been surprised that you are still in the kennel. When I came to collect you from your kennel you greeted me with the enthusiasm, I know you to have. I was amused when we got to the car and you wanted to jump in. You are a good and a curious traveller, you were initially standing and looking out of the rear window being quite fascinated by what you were seeing. On the motorway, you lay down and relaxed, which I would do to if I could as the motorway is quite boring. When we stopped you would look out of the rear window, have a sniff and lay down again once we got going. When we arrived at Sutton Park, you were very keen and could not wait to get out. The moment I opened the back you jumped out tail up ready to go on an adventure. You are one of the strongest boys I have walked so far. Your inquisitive nature never wavered, sounds, smells and sights are all fascinating to you. Because you are excited, you sometimes weave from left to right and back. Throughout the walk you were pulling, and it did not really stop even with corrections. On this occasion the most useful method was to stop and relax, to the point he would lean against me and then go again. This seemed to work he would still pull but less so. You met lots of children, toddlers, adults which did not bother you. The same for cyclists you were curious but no desire to chase. Dogs are very fascinating to you, however, when we got close to them you were less interested. I have the impression that you find fluffy creatures in the distance interesting but when you get their it is like, ohh ok. When we relaxed on a bench you were tracking a white Westy and then went from 0 to 40 miles per hour in a few seconds. I was able to control it but observed you really wanted to chase this fluffy creature in the distance. You seem to have a strong prey drive. When we returned to the kennel, I was fascinated that you were very relaxed, you almost did not pull. This suggests to me that you get excited by new environments. You are almost like a child in a toy store who does not know where or what to look at first. Shall I go here or there or maybe I can do it all at once. When taken out of the toy shop, they are themselves again, this is what you appear to be like, when you return to familiar surroundings you are yourself again. Yardy, you are a beautiful boy who is strong and excitable but can also be very relaxed and in need of cuddles. To do YOU justice, YOU will need a family who are willing to play games with you, maybe agility or flyball or simply be entertained at home. You will need a clear consistent leadership from all your new family member(s). You will need training with positive reinforcement, and you will make a family incredibly happy and you be very happy. Thank you for the exercise today, I enjoyed the walk and cuddles we had today. I really hope you will find your forever family soon or maybe I should say that they will find YOU soon ????

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

So very sad to have been told of Robbie's passing. He was a favourite of mine in kennels and we were very fortunate to have continued to see his progress in training class, especially when we realised that our Skip and Robbie had the same Dad making them half brothers. A year was nowhere near enough for Ben and Lorna who loved him dearly and our hearts go out to them. They had so much love to give. x

We are always complaining about the weather, too hot, too cold too windy. Well today is no exception. It was too bruddy wet!! Massive thanks to our intrepid volunteers who made sure the inmates had both morning and afternoon walks. Thanks too for the donations of bedding and towels and to Tina who collected a donation of food from Pets at Home in Stratford. Hoping that the weather will be a little kinder tomorrow and that little Flash gets on well at the vets. X P.s just checked tomorrow's weather and it is looking good!

So very, very sorry to hear that Robbie has gone over the Bridge. He was a real favourite in the kennels, and it is so unfair that he wont get the retirement he so deserved. Thinking of his heartbroken Mum & Dad and sending love - fly high big fella. xxxx
