Oh Shanishoo, I’ve done that and TC would be delighted if I stopped talking to him! If I still lived In Birmingham she’d be home with me by now as I’d just have ‘borrowed’ her till he was head over heals. Xx

Is there a chance you might need to take Florence to the kennels for any other reason soon? Hopefully the two of them would bond and he wouldn't be able to say no. Plus how good do their names sound together!

Have you tried turning on the tears, I find that usually works, if that fails, bring out the silent treatment lol, I'm so devious!!!!! Xx

Love this pretty girlie. She is such an affectionate and playful little thing. We did encounter a squirrel on our return from morning walks, and she did react, but I feel with some work she will learn not to get so excited. Yes she needs a bit of time & work, but will be SO worth that effort, she is lovely and just needs showing the way. xx

Daybreaks Diary!

It was a relief to be so much cooler this morning! As we had no appointments booked we locked up the kennels and the 4 of us walked the 4 doggies (poor Flash's hock is playing her up so we rested her today and gave her a session in the magnotherapy unit to try to ease her poorly joint). During our walk along the lane we spotted a cyclist, so duly moved over to the side to let him pass. However, he stopped when he reached us and asked if we were from the Rescue on the main road. We thought he wanted to ask about the dogs, but in actual fact he wanted to give us a cash donation. So very kind of him, and just goes to show that our boys & girls are a draw and you never know what will happen when you're out & about!! Miss Polly Wolly Doodle almost got back to the kennels without encountering a small furry - but as we turned into the drive a pesky squirrel ran across in front of us. Yes - she does react, but in fairness to her she can be corrected, it just takes a little while, and she needs a bit of work to help her be less excited. However, she will be so worth that effort - she is a real sweetheart, so affectionate & playful, and she stood beautifully for her health check which included teeth cleaning. She had a special treat afterwards (don't tell the others!!) Jack is still a little worried when he can't see you, but he is a lovely friendly boy. He does however like to zigzag when he walks - which can make life a bit difficult, Jo reckons his sat nav is broken, lol!!! Yardy is a very strong and muscular, but handsome & very friendly, boy. He was very strong on his lead on the morning walk so we tried a harness in the afternoon. There was an improvement, but life for him at the minute is one big adventure as he discovers new sights, sounds and experiences and he likes to be at the front to get on with it!! A quiet but very enjoyable day as we were able to spend lots of quality time with the doggies - my favourite part.:) Well another weekend is upon us, we have a new arrival tomorrow and a viewing booked so keep fingers crossed. I understand the heatwave should finally be over by Monday and we will be back to more normal August temperatures - about time too, enough is enough I say!! As is usual on a Friday, I will raise a glass or two of chilled white wine later to our gorgeous residents and hope for forever sofas for them all very soon. Why don't you just say you just want to foster Flash until she fully recovers from her injury that's all, then maybe he won't be able to give her back. And say that Florence is really lonely and she needs some doggie companionship - anything is worth a try!!!! Xxx

Daybreaks Diary!

What a lovely day...so much cooler! The residents got morning and afternoon walks. 🙂 This afternoon we were joined by Linford's soon to be new Mum and her friend. We closed the kennels for half an hour and all went out for a walk. :)) Everyone looked far more comfortable in their kennels when we left tonight. I know we shouldn't complain but it has been just far too hot for our dogs and me this week!! Xxx

I heard from Billy’s new dad yesterday saying that he is sleeping well throughout this heat, and is now taking food and treats out of their hands! He has settled really well with their other 2 greys and they think “he is a cracker and is well and truly in his forever home“. So happy for this lovely boy xxx

Klaire, i say just do what i do...just bring the animal home, they then fall in love after spitting their dummy for a while (think that bit makes them feel like they're in control-but that's ok, let them feel this for we know the truth!) Then they want them to stay and its 'their idea to keep them' then...see I've got my husband well trained and worked out...this is assuming TC is a person lol?! Xxx

So, I put on my best upset voice and told TC about Flash and your injury, “no one will want her, She’s got a broken hock and needs the reassurance of a sister like Florence”. The response “ I’m sure they’ll find her a good family”. So I tried “I’ve got so much love to give it’s either another greyhound or I’ll have an affair”. TC “please don’t”. Me “which does the “please don’t” refer to?” TC “both, give more love to Florence”. Me “that’s not possible”. So no luck there Flash! I’ll keep trying. Xx
