Thanks so much to Erik and Charlotte for taking Billy for a trip to the park. He is a very happy boy, who is ready to embrace his retirement with all four paws! Xxx

Rosie is absolutely gorgeous, such a happy little girl! As it was so hot Richard and Shirley bathed her outside in the small run, she loved it and she soon dried out! I'm sure she won't have too wait very long for her forever home. 🙂 Xxx

I forgot to say yesterday that we met a couple of dogs in the park on our walk and Sam just had a sniff until one of them started to jump around and then he got excited too. No walks today as he had his neutering op and had 14 teeth removed. He’s feeling a bit sorry for himself tonight poor lad. Hopefully he’ll perk up tomorrow and his tail will start wagging properly again and not just the little wave that we had tonight 🙁 xx

Well Billy boy, you are an excitable young men. You had the privilege to walk with our Charlotte! During the introduction Charlotte found you a bit rough now and then and you got told off by her. Once you two had met and had a good sniff of one another all was well and off we went to Sutton Park. Billy, was really not keen on going into the car, I had to entice him with treats. He loves his treat so this might be his go to for training. I had to take it really slowly but eventually you let yourself be picked up and placed in the car. I took it really easy with the driving as you appeared restless in the car. When I was doing 50/60 miles per hour you would lie down but the moment I came to a stand still you would stand-up. On the way back it was a bit better but still not keen. During the walk you would be pulling but a couple of corrections and he would be pulling less. If he wanted to go somewhere, he would certainly pull strongly in the direction he wanted to go to. Again, a clear NO correction sorted this out. He will learn quickly what you do and don’t want him to do. He is excited to be out and about. During the whole walk he was alert to everything, sounds and sights. He met a number of other dogs, he be very interested, but not always sure, but on one occasion he displayed the “I want to play posture”. We also had a little fluffy dog barking at you, I was pleased to see you not react to this doggy at all. Billy and Charlotte walked happy together not paying each other to much attention. Billy was very curious about the birds in Blackroot pool. He did surprise me when we were watching birds, people being busy in the pool and after a couple of minutes he went closer to the edge and then jumped in with his front paws. Maybe there is an Olympic swimmer in him ????. He also showed interest in people, he has not bothered about cyclist or people running. At the end of the walk we watched people and children playing. You found this really fascinating, especially the football. Billy, you are a really nice, excitable young man who would happily join a pack. At the moment you are not a keen traveller, but I am sure over time and with patients this could change. You are also quick learner, the second time going in the car, your face told me, food will not work this time mate, this made me chuckle. I think you will make a great addition to an active household, with older children who will engage and play with you, but also have some patience. You might also enjoy fly ball, agility and maybe a splash in the pond or pool. It be nice to take you for another walk but I prefer to see you go off to your forever home and enjoy your retirement.

He’s definitely starting to get cheeky! He barked at Paul this morning because Paul didn’t put his breakfast down quickly enough for him, and then stood and barked at him while Paul ate his sandwich at lunchtime. I assume Sam wanted some as he does enjoy his food :)) He went to Paul for some cuddles today which is the first time, but again only comes for them if we’re sitting down. But he did get close enough to sniff my hand when I came home from work today which is braver as I was still standing up xx

Thank you to the people who came in and helped today, with cleaning and walking. My Arry enjoyed his afternoon walk. Thanks for all the donations of bedding and towels, and to everyone who came and used the sand run. We had a lovely donation of sardines and treats for the kennel dogs, very much appreciated. It was great to show the lovely people around the kennels and to hear them say what a fantastic job we do with homings, they had lots of questions about what we do and will be visiting us again in the not too distant future. Let's hope we can get some more deserving hounds into their forever homes. X

    I’m Homed

We all had a lovely walk this morning...It was quiet at the kennels, Billy had been for a walk which left Bob Tail, Noddy and Jag to go. I also had Skip and Lyra with me. Ruth, Diane, Declan and myself all went off together. 🙂 After walking along the lane and being very disappointed at seeing and hearing all the building work going on, Diane suggested we check out the Public footpath across the fields. It was like another world! Quiet and wildflowers and butterflies everywhere. I don't know if the dogs appreciated these but they loved all the different smells! 🙂 Richard, Shirley and their boys Murphy and Drew met us on the way back 🙂 It was great to escape for a while. 🙂 Xxx

So Sam’s been with us for a couple of days now and his confidence is slowly improving. He started off lying in his own safe place at one end of the room away from everyone, and now he’s started to lie on one of the beds near us. He’s happier to come and say hello if we’re sitting down rather than standing up and this evening, he’s had some lovely cuddles with me. He seemed amazed by the wide open green space in the park yesterday. He’s a very inquisitive boy and I think may become quite cheeky once his confidence has built up! He’s a gorgeous lad xx

Billy came with me to Elmdon Park today. He is such a happy boy. He actually bounced out of his kennel and his tail never stopped wagging. He really loves his walks and is extremely happy to be out exploring. We walked for about an hour and met quite a few other dogs. Whilst he isn't 100% sure when other dogs run past him, he doesn't react badly, but his head does seem to be on a swivel!! He doesn't however bat an eyelid if they walk past him calmly. He is a really sweet lad , who is a pleasure to spend time with. Hopefully he will have his own sofa soon xx

Big Moe came to the kennels for a pamper with Jess today. It was great to see him and his Mum. He is still so very handsome! He has a few grey hairs appearing which just make him more distinguished! He was such a good boy during his pamper and afterwards he was treated to a new toy. :)) Xxx
