We have six super boys at the kennels looking for their forever homes... Sam our shy boy whose character is beginning to emerge; Billy a very happy lad with ears that seem to have a mind of their own; Harry who spends most of his time lounging on his bed with legs in the air! Then there's Linford with his waggy stumpy tail and very athletic figure 🙂 Noddy has a very happy disposition and finally our gentle lad Jag. Really hope by this time next week they may all have their bags packed and be waiting to go home. 🙂 Xxx Jess is back at the kennels and able to offer pampers and mini pampers for your four legged friends...all three of mine could do with a bath! :)) Lynne and Simon brought Skip, Sam and their new family member Nadie for various pampers...Nadie had the full torture!....I mean pamper! :)) It was great to hear what she has been up to since joining the family. 🙂 Thanks to Jess and Lauren for taking new photos of some of our boys! Xxx

Oh harrold I knew you would settle in straight away. Molly seems to be lost without you I’m sure it won’t be long till someone picks you up I must admit it’s a lot quieter at the kennels with out you though.

Someone may tell me off for this, but the activity was fully supervised by a responsible Animal ( Carrie) but it's so much fun to give your greyhounds an unopened bag of crisps, they were just all in my face when I was eating crisps Jess was just gently resting her head on my leg, so gentle it was actually painful ( Eve used to do that all the time almost not touching my leg but so close it actually hurt) so I thought well have your own then and if you think I'm opening the bag for you then you are all very wrong

    I’m Homed

A quiet Daybreaks day today. Our crew of 6 had sand run time this morning, then Chris & I took them on a short walk this afternoon. The weather was weird - the sun was scorching when it was out, but then it clouded over and got really sticky, we were all panting when we got back from afternoon walks!!! Our new boys are all gorgeous, I already have a soft spot for the stunning Jag - he is such a gentle soul who looks right into your eyes. All the boys had a lovely groom, and we did some health checks and teeth cleaning too, as well as having snuggles! Sam has come on so well from when I saw him last week. He is still so very wary bless him, but his tail goes round like mad and he is desperate to come up to you - but still holds back from getting too close. He will not accept treats from your hand yet, but does enjoy them if you drop them on the floor. He is great at having his lead put on, and doesn't back away when you approach his kennel now. All in all he is doing really well, but it is going to take time for him to get the confidence he needs. We had 2 lovely donations of bedding during the day, our boys & girls will be very comfy - thankyou. Well it's the weekend again and with some viewings booked I will raise a glass (or two) of chilled white wine in the hope that we see some red or green signs by the end! Stay safe one and all - cheers! Angie xx

Sorry to hear you're not reserved any more but it's important that your new home is right for you. You were such a good boy when Simon and I gave you a bath on Sunday and gave you a health check. I doubt you'll be waiting very long. x

Noddy had a great time at the park today, he is a big lad with lots of energy! It was lovely to see Norman for the first time since the lockdown. 🙂 Many thanks to him for taking Noddy out for a couple of hours this morning and giving him a change of scene. Xxx

You would think Harry had been at the kennels for some time seeing how relaxed and settled he is already... 🙂 Shirley and Richard checked him over and gave him a bath when he arrived. Liz and I took him into Bob's garden to have his photograph taken for the website. Liz found it very hard to go home without him! 🙂 Xxx

Sam’s bravery is increasing. He reached across to sniff my hand today, although it was very brief. His body really wants to say hello - his tail wags like mad when you go near him. But his head is really not sure and not yet brave enough! He is such a lovely boy and loves to see the other greys and really perks up. He’d make a really good brother for another grey :))) xx

I saw him today after my walk with Jag. Ohh he is a handsome, happy go lucky boy. I think everyone likes him. I don't think you will be long in the kennels. You seem very much like our Charlotte, who no longer can do fundraising and awareness raising due to health problems. I think he would equally be great at this.

Billy came with me to Elmdon Park today. He is a super lad and walked beautifully. I don't think his tail ever stopped wagging! He wasn't too sure about the first dog we met but wasn't bothered by others. He came nose to nose with a spaniel, had a good sniff of a Staffie (and allowed himself to be sniffed) and totally ignored a Retriever who stood barking at him about a metre away. He wasn't fazed by children or bikes in the park either. It was my pleasure to walk him xx

I sat with Sam for a bit today. He has come on again in the two days since I last saw him. Today he came and stood next to me and had a little lean and later lay down next to me very relaxed. He is such a lovely boy and just needs a bit of time to get to know you. He will make a very loyal pet xx

I was very taken by Harry! He reminded me so much of my late Maggie. He gives great cuddles and is super friendly. I sat with him for a bit in his kennels as well. He enjoys a good fuss and isn't afraid to paw you if you dare to stop. I'm sure he won't be waiting long for his forever sofa xx

    I’m Homed

Jag today we did a walking adventure to Sutton Park. Again, I believe this was your first outing (as far as we are aware) into the big world. I am not sure you enjoy going into a car or being in the car. When I placed you in the car you wanted to get out. Once we got going you settled down and you are a good traveller, did not see or hear you. Return journey the same, did not want to get in but once there you settled down quickly. During the walk you were brilliant, at first you seemed very excited but during the walk you were as calm as can be. No pulling at all, it is almost as if we have been walking together for years. You met a small toy dog, who was vocal but you ignored it. You also met a Border Collie and a Pug not really fused by them you allowed them to be given a good sniff and we moved on. We came across a number of cyclists but these did not give you any concerns. We also came across two herds of cows and you did not blink. He was being curious about the woods and the sights, sounds and smells. I tried different treats to see if these are his go to stimuli for training. He was really not fussed about the treats, took them and then dropped them again. What I noticed towards the end of our walk, whilst he was tired, he saw a dog playing and this got his attention. If treats do not work for training it might be toys that are his high value treats to use during training. A final observation, around 10 minutes before the end of our 45 minute walk he seemed to have had enough and slowed down. It may be that his stamina needs building up or he simply enjoys shorter walks more. Well Jag it was a pleasure taking you for a walk, I don’t think I have ever had such an easy walk. You appear to be a very relaxed dog who takes everything in his stride, well done. I am sure you will be a great addition to some-ones home.
