This handsome fella came bounding out of his kennel this morning, tail wagging and very happy to see us! He really is a lovely boy, not big for a boy and very friendly. Somehow feel his stay with us will be a short one. xx

The beautiful Rosie is struggling in kennels, she really doesn't like being on her own and can get quite distressed at times bless her. She is used to having doggy company, so we are really hoping that she can find a home with a friend very soon. Sending her big cuddles in the meantime. xx

    I’m Homed

Billy is always happy to see you, and literally dives out of his kennel when you open the door! He is a happy chap who is full of energy and bounce. In yesterday's ridiculous heat he was the only one to show any interest in the balls floating in the paddling pool. We couldn't persuade him to actually put his paws into the pool - he just stretched & stretched until he could reach the closest ball! He is a real sweetie with the cutest ears that fold up on themselves - irresistible. Keeping fingers crossed he soon has his own sofa. xx

Linford experienced another exploding pillow incident overnight, lol!!! The kennel floor was very white & fluffy! This boy is so happy and busy, and loves to be involved with what's going on - he can be a bit vocal if he thinks we are ignoring him or are taking our time getting him out for his food! Keeping fingers crossed that his forever sofa comes along very soon. xx

The gorgeous Noddy got my Gold Star Award when I opened up this morning - another clean kennel and a bed that only needed the corners straightening, think we need to check if he actually spends the night in there, lol!! Such a handsome, happy soul - fingers crossed for you my lovely. xx

Sam was much better today. Eating all his food with no problem and reminding me how tall he is by appearing in the kitchen when I was making our tea, and his chin can almost rest on the work surface! He had a little run in his sleep earlier too which is the first time I’ve seen 🙂

Phew - what an absolute scorcher!! I can honestly say I can't remember ever being so hot! Our poor boys & girl were not impressed - we filled the paddling pool and they took turns coming out into the feeding run for a wee, and a play with the water if they felt like it. Only Billy showed any enthusiasm, he played with the floating plastic balls for a short time, chewed 2 of them! then decided enough was enough and lay down - I cant say I blame him. It was a very quiet day. We did have one viewing, the family were absolutely torn between 3 of our beauties so have gone away to try and make a decision so watch this space. They said all the dogs were beautiful and were very impressed with the kennels. Lunchtime saw the arrival of the very handsome and friendly Mae. He thoroughly enjoyed his bath and was dry in about 30 seconds afterwards! This afternoon was just too hot, so the residents came out for a short spell in the feeding run and we damped them down with some cool water - it was much appreciated. We have left them this evening with the fans on to cool the blocks, although as I am typing this the clouds have rolled in and the gusting wind is slamming all my doors shut, so a change in the weather is obviously on the way!! I will raise a glass or two of nicely chilled white wine later to toast our current residents and wish forever homes for them all - they are all so lovely and really deserve a comfy sofa of their own. Stay safe everyone - cheers! Angie xx

Rosie is absolutely gorgeous, such a happy little girl! As it was so hot Richard and Shirley bathed her outside in the small run, she loved it and she soon dried out! I'm sure she won't have too wait very long for her forever home. 🙂 Xxx

I forgot to say yesterday that we met a couple of dogs in the park on our walk and Sam just had a sniff until one of them started to jump around and then he got excited too. No walks today as he had his neutering op and had 14 teeth removed. He’s feeling a bit sorry for himself tonight poor lad. Hopefully he’ll perk up tomorrow and his tail will start wagging properly again and not just the little wave that we had tonight 🙁 xx

    I’m Homed

Well Billy boy, you are an excitable young men. You had the privilege to walk with our Charlotte! During the introduction Charlotte found you a bit rough now and then and you got told off by her. Once you two had met and had a good sniff of one another all was well and off we went to Sutton Park. Billy, was really not keen on going into the car, I had to entice him with treats. He loves his treat so this might be his go to for training. I had to take it really slowly but eventually you let yourself be picked up and placed in the car. I took it really easy with the driving as you appeared restless in the car. When I was doing 50/60 miles per hour you would lie down but the moment I came to a stand still you would stand-up. On the way back it was a bit better but still not keen. During the walk you would be pulling but a couple of corrections and he would be pulling less. If he wanted to go somewhere, he would certainly pull strongly in the direction he wanted to go to. Again, a clear NO correction sorted this out. He will learn quickly what you do and don’t want him to do. He is excited to be out and about. During the whole walk he was alert to everything, sounds and sights. He met a number of other dogs, he be very interested, but not always sure, but on one occasion he displayed the “I want to play posture”. We also had a little fluffy dog barking at you, I was pleased to see you not react to this doggy at all. Billy and Charlotte walked happy together not paying each other to much attention. Billy was very curious about the birds in Blackroot pool. He did surprise me when we were watching birds, people being busy in the pool and after a couple of minutes he went closer to the edge and then jumped in with his front paws. Maybe there is an Olympic swimmer in him ????. He also showed interest in people, he has not bothered about cyclist or people running. At the end of the walk we watched people and children playing. You found this really fascinating, especially the football. Billy, you are a really nice, excitable young man who would happily join a pack. At the moment you are not a keen traveller, but I am sure over time and with patients this could change. You are also quick learner, the second time going in the car, your face told me, food will not work this time mate, this made me chuckle. I think you will make a great addition to an active household, with older children who will engage and play with you, but also have some patience. You might also enjoy fly ball, agility and maybe a splash in the pond or pool. It be nice to take you for another walk but I prefer to see you go off to your forever home and enjoy your retirement.
