Hello Daisydog!! Michael & I remember you well, both from the kennels and also meeting up with you at the garden centre when we were fostering Sparky back in 2013! Good to hear you are still managing to potter about and see your pals - and we hope you have a lovely 14th birthday on 1st August, I bet you will get some very cool presents fit for a mature and pretty Princess. xx

Daisydog here just ambling by to say that I will be 14 on August 1st. Yes, and I only look 8! Being fawn I don’t have a spec of grey! I am to have a zoom birthday party and a few chums in the garden and of course a cake made by aunty Tina. I am so blessed with my seaside life and manage a little walk to the common most days. I am very wonky now with a back leg that I think belongs to someone else but am very happy and much loved. Mum adds ‘ the girl amazes us all - she has such spirit and determination - she’s isn’t able to ride comfortably in her beloved car any more but enjoys her garden and seeing her chums. So for anyone who remembers us - she has been with me now for 8 years - we are sending a special seaside hello - each day now an even bigger treasure. Xxx

It was very quiet today, no visitors apart from two bookings for the sand run. As it started to get quite warm, the dogs had a walk down the lane in the shade this morning. This afternoon it was a stroll around the sand run in the shade and then toys and playtime in the paddling pool. Sam is still quite nervous, he wants to come and see you but is still hesitant. He does now wag his tail when he sees you whilst in his kennel. I sat with him for a while and gave him some pieces of ham... don't tell the other residents. He would only eat it if it was put on his bed, bless. We are expecting a couple of new hounds during the week, so keep your eyes open and see if any of them grab your attention! It is so very satisfying to see these deserving greys get their forever homes. Xx We did however have a new arrival, Noddy! He is lovely and very affectionate. Thanks to Lynne and Simon for bathing him and getting him settled.

Sam, sounds like a big adventure in the sand run for you yesterday - well done! The big scary world is getting a little bit better every day isn't it, and sounds like a furry friend would help you even more. You get my virtual cuddle today - and a real, gentle one on Friday if you are still with us. xxx

Ruth, Lauren and I went in the sand run with Sam this afternoon. He had a little run around and gave a short chase to some of the toys. Tigger came in to have a play with him and he did have a run with her. He wasn't so keen on coming out of the run 🙂 Tig did her best to round him up! After a few minutes he allowed Ruth to take him gently by the collar and came out with no trouble. He does seem to like being around other dogs, especially when going on a walk. Maybe there is a Greyhound brother or sister out there who is looking for a gentle addition to their family? Xxx

What a contrast from yesterday when I opened up the kennels this morning. The gorgeous Sam, although still very wary, didn't back away and let me pop a slip lead on him to bring him out into the feeding run. Bless him, in true Greyhound fashion he trod in his poo!!! and needed his paws wiping before he could go back into his kennel and his nice clean bed. With a quiet, gentle approach he let Michael hold his head whilst I cleaned his paws and he was very good - no panting or straining to get away. I was as quick as I could be so we didn't overwhelm him too much, but Michael was delighted when Sam leaned on him before letting him lead him back to his kennel - and this morning was the first time Sam had met Michael. Well done Mr Sam - so very brave and already, after such a short time, gaining in confidence. We will take it at Sam's own pace, but I am certain that this beauty will be an amazing companion in the right home. You can tell he wants to be your friend - but is very unsure if he should!!! He has made progress already - well done handsome. You get my cuddle today - keep up the good work. xxxx

Boo Boo (Boo) used to be just the same it took ages for us to be able to give her cuddle. I just had to be patient and let her make her own mind up. Now she can’t wait for a good cuddle and loves to give kisses.
