    I’m Homed

It was a quiet day today, and thankfully it stayed dry all day so the boys & girls could have morning and afternoon walks without getting soaked! On arrival in the mornings we let the dogs out into the feeding runs to toilet before we start on the cleaning and feeding regime. This morning young Mr Dasher decided he was going to have the devil in him! He came out into the run with no problem, but wouldn't come to me when it was time to go back in. He play bowed, kept running around the run and then sat down in the corner - leaned over and slowly lay down on the floor with his legs open and up in the air!!! We had to have several tummy rubs, then he got up and happily trotted back into his kennel! He is such a character and such a gentle soul for a big boy - bless him. This morning saw the arrival of Daybreaks latest big fella - the lovely Stan. He was a very good boy in the bath, standing nicely to be washed after the initial shock of the shower making him wet had passed! When we had finished he jumped out of the bath nicely then proceeded to give himself a huge long shake - covering Chris & I in water - oh well, it made a change from getting wet from the rain! We had a lovely phone call from Ringo's new owners - he has found the sofa, had a great first night and is doing really well. x I actually got to go out on a walk this afternoon, and took my sweet little Lou. Several times today we caught her lying on her bed on her back with her legs in the air - but every time we got the camera out, she jumped up to come and have a look at it!! She is such a beautiful little girl who walks nicely on her lead - fingers crossed she finds herself a new sofa very soon. x Many thanks for everyone's help today, much appreciated. Cant believe it but the weekend is here again. Don't forget that tickets for the Mothers Day Prosecco lunch on 21st March are available either from the kennels or via the online shop - scarily it is only 4 weeks away now, the year is flying by. I will raise my glass of wine this evening to all our boys & girls, may this weekend be the one that finds their forever homes. Cheers one and all. Angie xx

My brave boy crossed the bridge yesterday after a short illness. My faithful, loyal and loving companion had survived immune mediated disease, leukaemia and steroid responsive meningitis for three years, and latterly kidney disease and high blood pressure, but succumbed to accute hepatitis. He was a happy boy to the end, still enjoying his walks as late as Wednesday evening. We are all devastated

We really hope someone spots her soon, we must check the site 20 times a day hoping 🙁 Phoebes eczema is going in the right direction... we are hoping she will grow out of it one day and we can try again with fostering to see how her skin reacts. We will be up to do some volunteering soon but are too gutted to come up to help whilst Penny is still waiting. Thanks again for your support xx

After fighting with the door for a few minutes this morning we finally got into the office! Alan and Richard managed to "sort of" fix it. Alan did ask me to mention on the website which part we were needing....I wrote it down BUT I left the note at the kennels!!! Sorry Alan. Xx The Chuckle Brothers were also up on the roof of the kennel that was damaged in the storm last weekend and managed to put a piece of tarpaulin over to keep out the rain. The bathroom is also leaking and doubled as a paddling pool today when we had a heavy downpour! 🙂 Our hardy walkers got soaked this morning. 🙁 Poor Gloria was already wet after a lorry drove through a puddle and deposited the water from it all over her. She was considering drying herself off with the doggy hair dryer in the treatment room until she discovered it only blew out cold air! 🙂 Xxx Daisy had the right idea and decided she didn't want to go for a walk today and my Skip gave me such a dirty look after he came back very, very wet! :)) x Fabulous Ringo went home this afternoon. 🙂 His new family were very excited to collect him! He jumped straight into the car and settled down for his journey to his new sofa. :)) A huge Thank you to Shirley H today for taking Ringo to the vet to have his vaccination booster this morning. So very kind of you. Xx Thanks also to Lucy for giving him a lovely pamper, he looked and smelt gorgeous! Xxx Despite the awful weather everyone kept their sense of humour, Chcolate donuts from Alan helped of course as did Lucy's delicious chocolate cake. Thanks so much to you all for your help and support today. Xxx

Hey auntie Kate, mom keeps trying to convince TC to let me have a sibling, she said earlier that if SFF Coco lived as long as SFF Mr Darcy then he’d outlive me. TC said that Coco did live that long he’d outlive him too. Mom then said that she hoped that wouldn’t happen but just in case it was best if we got another greyhound now so he could get to know it! She’s doing really well with her foot but walking is a big problem. She sends her love. Florence xxx

I'm so sad for you and your family that you had to lose Penny. What a hard decision to have to make. She sounds wonderful - we have two children aged 2 and 5, but are not looking to adopt until Easter, which is very sad. I hope she finds a loving home soon

My excitement level was so high! Mom went to see the hooman version of the person I like least while TC took me for a walk. Once we’d got her we got her perscripion and then she hobbled into the place that looks like a badly organised garden. I like it there because there’s a cat I see sometimes and babbitts and ginnygigs! Mom say to TC ‘can we have 2 blue puppies?’ Puppies, PUPPIES, where? I can’t see them, maybe they’ll deliver them like they did the big planter thing. We pay and come home. A little later mom says ‘don’t the blue puppies look lovely’. She’s looking at the fish tank, no don’t these hoomans know anything? Puppies don’t live in fish tanks! I can’t reach it to get them out so I tell SFF Maud to get them, she goes over but instead of saving them she just stares! HELP, the puppies are drowning!!! Sorry what? Guppies, did you say Guppies? Disappointed once again! Lubs to all Florence xxx

    I’m Homed

After we lost our Kallie in October we decided to rehome Penny after our daughter loved her as soon as she saw her. We unfortunately had to return her due to my daughters severe eczema, having a different dog in the house seemed to really upset it. It was a very hard decision to return her after doctors advice but we had to put our daughter first. We still really miss her & her amazing personality. She was great on walks, she treated our daughter like her puppy and was always searching for her to check she was ok. The house is not the same without her & we really hope she finds her forever home she truly deserves.

    I’m Homed

It started off cold but sunny, we had most of our Wednesday walkers plus Izzy and Emily who are college placement students who came in during their half term holiday, thanks to you all. The office door has become somewhat of a problem. It decided it was not going to open and completely failed with Tig and Denises Charlie inside. We managed to prise it open and free the Daybreaks Two and told everyone 'DON'T SHUT THE DOOR', unfortunately as creatures of habit it didn't always work!! Several times throughout the day rescuse missions were launched to rescue those trapped inside!!!! Hopefully tomorrow with the 'help of a man who can' it will be fixed :)) It was lovely to see Dave and Maisie back (Dave was a rescuer on more than one occasion during the day, although I think he took great pleasure in seeing me trapped). Hopefully we have someone coming to look at the kennel block roof in the next couple of day's. Thanks for the generous donations of bedding and towels. All dogs had morning and afternoon walks despite the rain.
