A rather wet and breezy day! However our residents got both morning and afternoon walks.:) A big thank you to everyone who came in to look after the boys and girls. Vanessa and Patrick did all the morning walks, bless you! We had extra volunteers this afternoon and I think they managed to dodge most of the showers. :)) Lovely Lola was officially adopted this morning. She has a fab new Mom! Xxx Paddy seems a lot brighter today after his operation and Ed was happy to eat both breakfasts and dinner after his dental. :)) I am so sorry to anyone who tried to call me on my mobile today. It's not well and turns its self off when it's had enough! Xxx I was driving home this evening when I suddenly realised I had forgotten to clean the runs! I did text Jo to apologise!!.......Xx. Think I need an early night! :)) Xxx

Ahhh so pleased for little Daisy. We were going to have her home with us for a week once Momma went back home so she could find out what home life was like and get more confident, but having a forever home is so much better. So pleased for her xx

Have a wonderful time in your new home lovely Holly. Try and be a good girl - you were a bit of a madam when you stayed with us once you'd got over your anaesthetic! Shoes and slippers appeared all over the place and toys had holes chewed in them...but you are a lovely lovely girl with such a waggy tail and so pretty, I am sure any "character traits" will be forgiven! It was lovely to meet you and spend some time with you and we hope you have a wonderful new life xxx

I have a secret admirer..... I got a card through the post that had “I love you” on it with a very cute hound on the front. The hound was so beautiful it reminded me of my girlfriend Florence! I know the card is from her! There was even a dog biscuit inside! Yum! I lubs Florence so much and when she next comes I am taking her on a date to Ward End Park to chase squirrels! Hope you had a good day Florence and happy Valentine’s Day! Xxx Also a big happy Valentine’s Day to the slaves as they do a lot for me and feed me when I go slamming my bowl all over the place at dinner time. They also put up with me stealing their seats and their washing up bowls, socks, dusters and other things! Wow, boy do I love them! Last but not least happy Valentine’s Day to all of you at Daybreaks! Wouldn’t have found this loving home without all of you! Lubs Russ Xxx

Jo was on Vet run duty today as the lovely Mr Ed went off to have the second part of his dental. He was a bit wobbly on his return to the kennels, but managed to eat his nice soft supper before retiring to bed, bless him. Paddy is still sore today, and is walking very gingerly!! but at least he hasn't lost his appetite so is taking his pain medication and will hopefully be more comfy in a couple of days. Now he is post-op he is back to no walks again - poor boy, just when he was starting to get out and about again too!! I met the handsome Mr Dasher today - my goodness what a big, stunning boy he is! He is so tall I don't have to bend down to give him a fuss!! As I did my goodnight round this evening he was upside down on his bed with his legs in the air!! We were joined today by 6 volunteers from Network Rail. They all happily joined in and especially enjoyed walking the boys & girls. They were all surprised at how gorgeous Greyhounds were, and one or two fell in love with some of our residents! It was busy, busy today with customers for the sand run, pampers and dropping of donations. This morning saw the lovely Daisy reserved - yay! She wasn't too sure about going out for a walk, but after being coaxed with a tasty treat, she walked off with the group and her new Mum. This afternoon saw the lovely little Holly off to her new home, wishing her and her new family lots of happy times ahead. With all the extra bodies today, the doggies had morning & afternoon walks, a lovely groom and lots of extra fuss & cuddles. Many thanks for everyone's help. Fortunately the promised rain stayed away until going home time. Well, another weekend is upon us - how the time is flying by! We have viewings booked for tomorrow so keep your fingers crossed. My glass of red wine will be raised later to all our residents - let's hope your forever homes are just around the corner. The forecast for the weekend is not the best, so stay safe everyone. Cheers - Angie x

Oh my goodness Daisy. You've only gone and got yourself a red sign. Such amazing news on Valentine's day. I'll see you on Sunday if you're still there. I will miss you when you're in your forever home BUT will be overjoyed for you. So many races. You deserve your retirement. x
