We had lots of helpers today. :)) As well as our normal Tuesday lads and lasses we also had the company of four lovely ladies from HSBC getting involved on a Charity Volunteer Day....despite choosing a very chilly day to visit us they helped out with everything and all ended up with a favourite Greyhound by the end of the day! :)) Shirley and I took Drew for a follow up appointment with the vet after his dental last week. All looks good. :)) xx He spent most of journey to and from the vets standing looking out of the back window of the car, he loves to see what's is going on in the big wide world! :)) The home of Pepper, our Chicken received a top to bottom Spring clean by Gloria and Declan. It looks great and I'm sure Pepper appreciates it. :))) Thanks so much to you both. Xxx Richard found himself a bit of tree surgery to perform...sadly one of the neighbours trees has become very "wobbly" after the recent strong winds. He cut down as much as he could to make it safe. 🙂 xx A big hug and lots of love to Ruth tonight. She has her operation tomorrow, fingers crossed this will sort out her problems and we can look forward to her being back at the kennels where she belongs as soon as possible! Xxxxxx Xxx

Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
Hi everyone. Ok I really don't want to be appear to be nagging. I have in the past couple of days taken calls regarding the following.... Could you all please ensure that your hounds have a house collar with an ID tag on. THIS IS A LEGAL REQUIREMENT. In the past couple of days we have had two dogs who had escaped and had no ID tags on them. This causesus a great deal of stress for us trying to reunite a dog with it's owner. It means that our attention is taken away from the dogs in our care. If you do move home please update your microchip details, I know it is easy to forget but please do it. I personally know if one of my dogs managed to escape I would be distraught and would hope that we would be reunited by either the ID tag or if that had come off their microchip details. It is easy to forget. Sorry, rant over, but if you love your dog you will do it. Xxx

Lottie has been diagnosed with the canine equivalent of IBS I am waiting for some special steroid tablets that concentrate on the gut and she has been given B12 capsules to help. The condition is exacerbated by her food intolerance which we haven’t yet been able to isolate exactly what she is reacting to. She is now on Purina HA which thankfully she likes.

Well 1 week in and i'm really pleased to say Harry has been brilliant. He is so happy and loves his new home.He walks well but is obviously keen to meet other dogs but there is no aggression there. Its lovely to see him discovering everything new.He went to his first training class and behaved himself,he's also met his auntie Linda and Peggy who I can see being a big part of his life along with Uncle Paul.He also met his Auntie Andrea today who loved him.He is such a polite hound and wants to please you,he is clean in the house, sleeps through the night, loves his cuddles is great with the grandkids, loves playing with his toys and is well behaved,to be honest he's showing me up already! He is such a lovely dog I'm so pleased we've got the opportunity to make his life a great one, because he deserves it.

Inquisitive, affectionate, friendly, happy, kissy all words that describe Beano yesterday. She wasn't bothered by the traffic noise although a bit surprised by a particularly raucous motorbike, she wasn't fazed by the Emirates plane taking off. Shes a super little girl xxxxx

A little improvement in the weather today, thanks so much to everyone who walked the dogs today. At least they were able to get out for their two walks without getting too wet. Xx I took Zoey to the vets for her neutering operation this morning. What a lovely little girl she is. She met Harvey the Basset Hound and a Schnauzer in the waiting room and was a very polite young lady with them both. She was a little taken aback when Harvey barked! :)) Her prospective new family are hoping to come and visit her tomorrow. 🙂 Thanks so much to Rosie and Paul for taking Holly home and then to the vets for her neutering operation today too. Holly

We have the lovely Holly with us for a couple of nights and took her to be speyed today. She isn’t wanting any food yet tonight which is the opposite of how she was last night - paws up on the work surfaces in the kitchen to see what there was to snaffle! And so inquisitive!! She had her nose in every corner of every room and even climbed over the double bowl stand in the corner of the utility to get INTO the recycling box under the sink :))) She is such a pretty girl and her tail didn’t stop wagging last night. Not so much tonight but I’m sure it’ll be on the go again tomorrow.

After so many races this delightful, friendly girl deserves a sofa of her own although she happily shares a kennel with Beano so maybe she could share a sofa too. Lots of cuddles xxx
