Paddy was much brighter today. 🙂 Hopefully he will be able to start short walks again in a few days. Bless him. Xxx

I’m Homed
A much better day today 🙂 Quiet for volunteers, I am so grateful to everyone who came in today. Yvonne and Helen were fab this afternoon and fed all the boys and girls while I was helping lovely Zoey pack her bag and go home with her new Dad. She was very happy to jump in the car and didn't give me a second glance! :)) I'm sure she is going to be very much loved. Xxx Thank you to everyone who popped in to drop off donations for the dogs. They loved all the extra attention and fuss. 🙂 Xxx

Jed
Over the Rainbow Bridge
I do feel sorry for my oh so tolerance boy Jed not only does he have to put up with Lottie’s exploding bottom (which is slowly improving but could be weeks according to the vet) and truly dreadful wind he now has to endure Lottie bolting her gold sprinkled ultra expensive exclusion food (which fortunately she loves) so fast that this subsequently gets sprayed all over him whilst he quietly trys to eat at a sensible pace. Welcome to my greyhound world! Still love them loads thankfully!

Hews, I don't think you could go far wrong with the gorgeous Paddy. He is a gentle loving boy and I am sure he would bring much love to your home. So sorry you lost your Cookie and have had a traumatic homing experience. I can only reiterate comments made by LM, I too don't understand why is still with us in the kennels. He is a real gentleman. I am looking forward to seeing you on Sunday. Jo x

Daisy
I’m Homed
I had the pleasure of walking Daisy again today. It started off just a bit drizzly. As we got out of the gate, Daisy did her usual look left to the sand run. It took a little bit of coaxing to get her moving but she walked well apart from a couple of little freezes, mainly at the corners and on turning round. It didn't take much to get her going. The rain got heavier by the time we got back so all the dogs got towel dried. She was ever such a good girl lifting her paws up for me to dry. Such a sweetheart. I'm so pleased she's got a home to go to soon. x

Hews - so sorry about Cookie. It's heartbreaking, but lovely that you want to open your home to another. Myself and some other volunteers spent quite a bit of time with Paddy today as he couldn't go out on walks/go in the sand run as he's post op. We were saying that we can't understand why he's still here. He is gorgeous. Everything is crossed that he's right for your family.

Paddy
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Having lost our darling little Cookie (aka Sofia) back in September, we have since had an unfortunate and very traumatic homing experience from HG which broke our hearts all over again. However, we have all fallen for Paddy and hope we can come visit him on Sunday 23rd and sincerely hope he is calm, affectionate and comfortable with our twin boys (11yo). Cannot wait to meet him and keeping fingers crossed he’s still there and right for us xoxo

I’m Homed
An unpleasant surprise this morning. Part of the roof on our bottom kennel block succumbed to Storm Dennis. Fortunately, if anything could be fortunate only one kennel was affected. Thankfully we had moved the resident from that particular kennel on Friday. Many thanks to Bella and Si who braved the elements and got the ladders out in an attempt to put it back in place. They managed to do a temporary repair, unfortunately the wood on the roof is very rotten. Subsequently the bathroom also suffered a little flooding as it is adjacent to affected kennel. As if anything else could go wrong it did!! The lock on the office door was sticking. The day was spent trying not to fully close the door just in case we got stuck....I didn't really want to climb through the window with two greyhounds at the end of the day!! Thanks to our intrepid volunteers and lovely college placement students for all their help on such a very wet, windy miserable day. Most of the dogs managed a morning walk, that was until it really became too awful to continue. The remaining dogs had the toys out in the outdoor runs and had a great time playing. This afternoon we erred on the side of caution and each dog had a play in the sand run. Paddy seemed a little happier today, bless him. Thanks to everyone who came in with bedding and to use the sand run. We also had a visit from Steve and Sue who recently did the Pets at Home road show in Stratford. They came in with donations of bedding, pilchards and other goodies. Thanks to everyone who made a donation there. The highlight of the day was a call from a lovely family who had been in to meet our residents. They went away to make a decision and gorgeous boy Ringo was the hound who melted their hearts. Well done lad. Xx We hope that you managed to escape the wrath of Storm Dennis, sorry to hear Jeffrey, Carrie, Celia and Princess Jess were not so lucky (sorry your swimming pool disappeared girls, not so sure your Dad is unhappy with it's disappearance though). Lets hope that the weather will now improve. Take care all. X

Dasher
I’m Homed
Walked him today, in the pouring rain. He walked very well on the lead, had a good pace and walked right to heel, against my leg. Later on we went for a run in the sand run. He had a little prance to get started, then runs normally, so funny. He needs to learn some manners with food, but he'll get there.
