2019 Daybreaks Diary!

Thanks Angie, I prefer the dynamic duo, although I do have to admit by the end of the day we were wet and bedraggled so, yes gruesome twosome may have been apt! Our current residents are such wonderful characters, especially Maisie who since day one has had a 'real thing' about my phone! Very strange with it being so quiet, even stranger sitting down to have lunch, a rare thing indeed! Thanks Angie for the lovely soup and bread, it was gorgeous. More viewings booked for the weekend, hoping for some more great red and green signs. We seem to be on a roll now. X

I just found out that my sister has been at my favourite place but I looked at my food bowl several times and she wasn’t there but then I discovered she was on about the horrifying building where these people check you over and scare you to death. Not fun. Don’t understand why she wanted to work there for a week! Barney Xx

2019 Daybreaks Diary!

Well, there's quiet - and then there's today at Daybreaks!! Most probably the dire weather forecast yesterday, but we didn't have one single volunteer - so that left Jo & I as the dynamic duo or the gruesome twosome, whichever you prefer (sorry Jo!) The weather also kept away the visitors too, so we had a very lonely day! The rain held off this morning so I could take all the boys & girls one at a time for playtime in the sand run. We had great fun, and it is lovely to see all their different personalities and the way they enjoy their off lead time. Wendy was a little unsure and wasn't very keen on running around off lead, so we had a walk around the perimeter on the lead and she was much happier. Don't think the wind gusting through the trees helped much. Little Dewey loved having a run round, as did Annie who kept throwing her own toy for herself to catch!! The 2 new girls Maggie & Elsa are absolutely beautiful. Elsa had a good old race round, as did Maggie, but they both let me know when they'd had enough by coming back to me and "leaning". As the rain set in for the afternoon Jo & I took the boys & girls into the feeding runs for "wee" time then we did some grooming and playing with toys. It actually made a nice change for us both to be able to spend some good one on one time with all the doggies - giving them some TLC and getting to know them and their funny little ways. Honey G was determined to play with the grooming brush - and Maisie was equally determined to get Jo's phone out of her pocket!! Well another weekend is upon us, and we have a Melbicks roadshow and both days - let's hope the weather improves and encourages plenty of visitors, both at the roadshows and at the kennels. Today's tipple is going to be a drop of brandy, purely medicinal of course after getting cold & wet!! But it is still raised in a toast to our beautiful residents, with a wish that forever sofas will soon be theirs. Happy weekend one and all- cheers! Angie xxx

Barney

My sister has been out everyday this week! She comes back very late each day. She just disappeared so when mom came through the door I greeted her for a few seconds and went straight past her looking for my sister. I hoped she was with mom but no. But nearly two hours passed and she returned home. Boy was I glad to see her! Daddy isn’t very well so I’m trying to be Dr Barney but I can’t really do much apart from squash him and love him! Sister Samantha keeps asking for another grey so I have someone to play with. She asks everyday but mom says no room. Hopefully she will give in at some point! Love Barney Xx

2019 Daybreaks Diary!

A much better day...all walks nice and dry! Many thanks to Alan, Richard and Lucy for doing the warehouse run. They got stuck in traffic on the way back. So chocolate donut time was a lot later than normal!! Lucy took some fabulous photos of Willis and Dewey :)) They look so good together. She still has the whole of the big bed to herself, but we make sure Willis is comfy on the lower bed. Bless him. Xx Having just taken Bobby out for a wee, I have noticed a distinct chill in the air 🙁 Soon be back to coats and Fleeces!! Thanks to everyone for their help today. It was good to see Ashley with Alan and Myra, he is such a handsome boy! :)) In case anyone is wondering where "Suirview Maya" who has been on our website as coming soon for a long time has gone....she is now at the Dudley branch of the Greyhound Trust ready to find her forever home. Xx Xxx

A big Birthday cuddle to our beautiful little Lyra 🙂 She is five today! She had a lovely card from Cello, Millie and Murphy and Lucy made a delicious pilchard cake, which all of our dogs found irresistible! Lyra will be visiting Pets at Home in the next couple of days to choose her own present. :)) She is such a very happy, bouncing bean, our little Princess Lyra! Xxx

Hello Everyone, well I got to spend a couple of days with Barney, we wagged our tails off and swapped beds. Then auntie Charlotte, uncle Oliver and uncle Scott came to visit me. I got endless hours of cuddles and fuss - bliss! Today TC and mom cut the lawn. While they were doing it I ate a spider, sad lack of squiggles here so spiders have to do! I asked the lawn mower to play with me, it was too busy helping TC to play but mom told TC that I asked it because I need a little brother or sister to play with...... here’s hoping!!! Lubs to all. Florence xxx
