What a great Birthday party! Loved seeing lots of old friends two legged and four! :)) Thanks so much to all who bought raffle tickets, wish there was a prize for everyone. Liked Jess and Ricky's tactics of turning up five minutes before the draw hoping their tickets would stay on the top of the pile! Congratulations to all the winners! :)) Xx So pleased to see Richard finally win his much wanted Greyhound draught stopper on the tom-bola, don't know how much he spent to get it! :)) Well done to Jo and Angie for all their hard work in organising everything. Thanks so much to everyone who helped out and to everyone who came and wished Daybreaks a Happy 13th Birthday Xxx Such a shame Ruth wasn't able to see how much Daybreaks means to us all. Sending her lots of love on behalf of all the Greyhounds who have passed through the gates looking for their forever homes over the last thirteen years. Xxxx Best news of the day...Billy has been fostered! Fingers crossed he won't need his space in Daybreaks back again :))) Xxx

Thanks to everyone for coming today to support us and help us mark Daybreaks 13th birthday, as well as my 1st year to the day of starting work here. We have raised a fantastic amount. My Sarah enjoyed sossidge bobbing, I think she may hold the record of 10 sossidge bobbed (I hope her dad is able to deal with any consequences)! A massive thanks too, to all the extra volunteers who gave their time and effort to pitch in wherever needed, and to Kate for coming in on her day off. X Lovely to see so many ex-residents and their hoomans. We decided to try something different this year with the picnic bags for hoomans and doggies. From the feedback we received it seems that this was a roaring success, must have been to Denises slicing and buttering of the rolls. Phew!! I was too slow on the uptake, as when I managed to grab a couple of minutes to get raffle tickets and doggie bags we had run out of bags :(( Better not tell my lot. Sadly one of my dogs Willow had a nasty turn as soon as she arrived this afternoon, many thanks to Nearly vet nurse Jess, Lucy , Bella and all who came to assist. She is now lying on her bed under a fan, drinking plenty, a cool towel draped over her and her breathing is now normal. Will keep a close eye on her, but she is still happily taking treats, but still a bit wobbly. Ruth was so upset not to able to come along, she really is so very poorly. She is hopefully being sorted in the very near future, we all wish her a very speedy recovery. X Thanks again, your support is so very important. So as Angie has not mentioned alcohol, I will, I am going to wine and recline!!!!

What a great birthday party today. Everyone seemed to be having a great time and it was nice to meet up again with hounds that have been adopted and are enjoying their new lives. Lovely food for both humans and hounds and so amusing watching the different tactics employed by the hounds for the sausage bobbing! Well done to the organisers for a brilliant day. Ruth, we know how much you wanted to be there, but you really do need to rest up and get ready for your surgery. Hopefully you will be feeling better very soon.xx

Massive thanks to everyone who came along today to help us celebrate our 13th birthday. The sun shone, but fortunately it wasn't as hot as yesterday so with plenty of shady gazebos we were all comfortable. The hounds certainly enjoyed their sossidge bobbing and doggy dip games. All the sossidge supplies were duly bobbed for, and almost all the prizes were snuffled for in the dip. Some hounds were a bit reticent to pop their noses in the water at first - but when they realised sossidges were on offer!!!!! And the lovely Skip dived feet first into the doggy dip tub to find his prize - a great technique! We have raised the amazing sum of £1264.92 today - thank you so much for your generous support. I know Ruth was absolutely gutted she was too poorly to join us today, and we all wish her well with her forthcoming surgery. The end of the day saw the gorgeous Billy trotting off to a foster home - so happy for him as he really doesn't like being in kennels. Must say thank you to Elizabeth, Seana and Nick who stepped into the breach to help out on the stalls - much appreciated. The Daybreaks boys & girls say a big woofy thank you to everyone involved in today's celebrations - everything we do, we do with love for these beautiful creatures. Angie xxx

It was very hot today! We did morning walks but it was far too hot to take the dogs out this afternoon. Instead each of them came out into the small runs in the kennels and had a wash down with the hose pipe! Some of them loved it others were not so keen, but it did cool them down. :)) It was a quiet day at the kennels, Jess had one client for a pamper, lovely Arthur who looked as handsome as ever. Xx We helped get things ready for tomorrow. Shirley has made up lots of pots of plants to brighten up the kennels. They looked great. Jayne gave a home to 35 snow shovels! Thank you! :)) Looking forward to the party tomorrow. Xxxx

Daisydog here just dropping by to say that I will be 13, yes 13 on 1st August. This year I am having an ‘at home’ afternoon for all my greyhound chums and their hoomans. Being almost 13 I am allowed to eat whatever I like and wear a different collar every day. I am also getting extra cheese. I have a teeny tiny lady leaky problem but mum has sorted out some nice sweeties for that. I also have stiff back legs but I am on some new sweeties for that and they are working very well. Us old girls can still cut the mustard (I have no idea what that means - but mum told me to write it ) and I am always a lady wherever I go. Big seaside wags to anyone who remembers me. I am a very lucky girl and am much loved. Mum adds - the beloved Daisydog continues to shine and bring joy into my life and the life of others. Enjoy each day with your hound. The love they give us is immeasurable.

So sorry Lottie has been poorly. Have you looked at Tails.com ? Archive has a super sensitive and Jato has an easy digest mix both do really well on it with a few sardines or butternut squash roasted in coconut oil on top. Also after Archive was poorly and lost lots of weight and after Jato was opened up after her problems I put spoon of coconut oil in their dinner and that helps inside and out. If you want to try tails let me know I will leave my phone number at the kennels as we have vouchers for you to get sample of food delivered. Xxx

By the way I have to say that Lottie is not impressed with the probiotic paste under statement of the year! I have several kitchen unit doors the same colour of the paste and we won’t even go to the panacure paste!!!

Jed is now the toothless wonder having had his last three canines removed. He has temporarily lost his Concorde nose much to his disgust. I have to say I am amazed at how far he is capable of propelling boiled rice across the kitchen .

Had a bit of a worrying time with Lottie recently took her to the vets about a month ago with an upset tummy but nothing we try seems to be working. She has had a course of steroids with no improvement, probiotics treatment, been tested for Addison’s negative and given a three day course of Panacur in case it was hook worm, poo sample also negative, ultrasound show not much apart from possibly some inflammation in her smallbowel so the vet thinks she may have developed a food allergy any suggestions please for sensitivity diets.
