2019 Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
It was a glorious day today - wall to wall sunshine. This morning was quite lovely so whilst some doggies enjoyed a walk down the lane I took Dessy & Billy for some playtime in the sand run (separately of course!) The run has some fabulous shady bits and both boys had a good scamper round, letting me know when they'd had enough by running up to the gate and peering intently through the bars!! Strangely enough both boys are quite vocal and stressed in their kennels, but take them out and they are completely different dogs. It was "Au revoir" and "Bon voyage" to our lovely French students Cami and Lea today, can't believe they have been with us for 4 weeks. They were obviously excited to be going home, but said they had really enjoyed their time with us and the Greyhounds. Jo took little Maisie to the Vet to be speyed this morning, and then took Paige along when she went to collect her this afternoon as Paige needed a vaccination booster. Maisie was a little wobbly and not really with us on her return, she wasn't interested in her dinner bless her, hope she feels more like her old self in the morning. Wendy was quite perturbed to be parted from her friend and welcomed Paige back with lots of sniffs and licks. Ruth popped in for a while this morning, it was lovely to see her. She has taken Cach home with her for a little TLC as although she wasn't sick again and her temperature is normal, she is obviously under the weather and Ruth felt a short spell out of the kennel environment might help her. Many thanks for everyone's help today, it was certainly a warm one, especially this afternoon. Fingers crossed the weather holds for our party on Sunday - please do pop along and join us. There will be plenty going on with merchandise to browse, games to play, picnic bags to eat, games for your hounds to play and Greyhounds & their humans to chat to! As we have a busy weekend coming up I am really hoping that we will see some red signs by the end - and am raising a glass of chilled white wine in my usual toast to this end. Cheers one and all, have a great weekend and hopefully see many of you at the party! Angie xx

Tigger
I’m Homed
Our little Tigger is doing so well. She goes weekly for her screws to be tightened on the pins through her leg and puts up with daily pin cleaning and constant wearing of her cone.... hence she is now has the nick name conehead! Our lovely French students have been helping clean her pins and I have added a photo..... They whisper je t'aime to her which is so sweet ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! xxxxxx

Dessy
I’m Homed
I have added the photos of Dessy on his trip to Elmdon Park yesterday and also of Camille and Lea our two French students who assisted me with removing his staples on Wednesday along with some lovely ones of him enjoying the run when I took him on Monday. He really is the most gorgeous, albeit a bit blundering, but so flipping happy boy!!!! He would honestly make you smile every day if he joined your family....

2019 Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
A beautiful day, perhaps a little warm for some of our residents. Xx Ruth dropped Eric off at the vets for the second part of his dental first thing this morning. Lucy and I picked him up this afternoon. The first time I called to ask how he was, he was still asleep, bless him! He was very bright when he got back to the kennels and ate his dinner. He only has nine teeth left! Poor lad. Xx Many thanks to Norman for taking Dessy out for a trip to Elmdon Park. He was a very good boy. He really needs his forever home as he finds kennel life quite stressful. Xx It was a busy day in Bob's garden too as Richard, Alan, Lucy and Declan were putting up gazebos, tables and chairs ready for our 13th Birthday Party on Sunday. :)) Please come along and spend sometime meeting our lastest residents and enjoying the company of many other Greyhound families! 🙂 The raffle tickets are selling well, the first prize being a dog friendly holiday in Padstow. Thanks to Mandy who took several raffle ticket books to sell to her friends and family. :)) It was lovely so,see your gorgeous Sally again. Xx Poor Cach has been feeling a little poorly and was sick in her kennel this afternoon. Hoping she feels better tomorrow. Xxx It's Maisie's turn to go the the vets to be neutered tomorrow. Do hope she isn't too stressed. Xxx Sending all our current boys aand girls and those on our waiting list a big cuddle tonight. Xx Xxx

Maisie
I’m Homed
Maisie is such a totally different girl than when she arrived at the kennels. When she arrived she was very unsure of the new environment. She was quite reactive towards people she did not know. My word, what a difference a few days made. I can sit in her kennel now and she thinks it is great fun to get really excited spring around and pounce all over you giving lots of kisses! She is such a bundle of fun, I do however think she would benefit being in a home with an experienced owner. I only mention this as she was so unsettled when she arrived at her racing kennels and also when she arrived at Daybreaks. It took her a few days to get uses to her new surroundings.. She is a firm favourite with lots of our volunteers, especially our French students, and of course me. With the right home this little girl would be a fantastic pet. X

Dessy

Dessy was a delight to take to Elmdon Park today. He jumped into the car and travelled well. Quite keen at 1st on lead but then settled. Met other breeds without a problem apart from being excite with one dog bouncing in his face
