2019 Daybreaks Diary!

I have been very remiss lately and have not updated my phone screen saver for months! So I agree with Jo, it is definitely time to get one of our long term guests on there and see what happens! Will get our trio of lovely boys Rocky, Jet & Jetson together and take a group shot - cheating I know but they all need a sofa to call their own soon and this may be the way to go!! xx

2019 Daybreaks Diary!

Daybreaks Annex reporting! I currently have the most beautiful boy Jetson here and I am at an absolute loss to know why he hasn't been picked. He has has been in the Trust since November. He has been clean from the moment he walked into our house on Tuesday following his dental and has been a perfect house guest ever since. Whist we were out for a couple of hours Wednesday evening, he was relaxed and happy despite poor Peggy who I had brought home as she seemed 'sad' in her kennel pacing and very distressed. I brought Peggy home with me again last night as I am trying to teach her that she doesn't have to follow us everywhere and she is starting to settle. Her trainer told us she can be a bit grumpy with others, which she has been - but she is much happier around Jetson than Genie - however she is learning her manners that it is rude to grumble!!!! She is being speyed on Monday (as long as she doesn't come into season) and off to her new home hopefully soon after. As Kate mentioned, Genie came home with me Monday evening and again last night after her spey. She clearly remembered being here and took up her place on her bed by the fire and has slept downstairs on her own (by choice) last night. She has been out this morning and toileted - such a beautiful and very good girl...... It has been great being back at the kennels this week - it has been very very busy..... I could do with a holiday ha ha! Ruth x

2019 Daybreaks Diary!

Three beautiful new arrivals today, Scarlet, Josie and Daisy. They are all very happy girls! Thanks to Bob and Declan for picking them up for us. 🙂 Buster was due to go for his neutering operation first thing but he had a very upset tummy so not able to go. Ruth took Genie in his place and she is spending the evening with Ruth and Andy along with Jetson and Peggy! At this rate there will be more hounds at Ruth's than at the kennels! :))) It was a busy morning....cleaning, feeding, new dogs arriving, cat testing, Richard was busy painting...we were all very pleased to see Alan arrive armed with Donuts! :)) Bless him! Alan and Richard did the warehouse run for us. Apparently the staff now know them as "The Daybreaks Chuckle Brothers!" :)) We are so grateful for their help. Xx Thank you to everyone for their help with cleaning, feeding and walking. Really don''t know what we would do without you all! 🙂 xxx It was just about light at 5pm tonight... Come on Spring!!! Xxx

I have nothing against the pretty girls, a forever home is what we want for all Daybreaks hounds, but it does seem that it's not just the younger ones that get re-homed faster because of their age, the pretty colours also attract people. However we must remember, good looks will fade, great character lasts forever, (that's what I tell my hubby lol) and the big black older boys have plenty of that. Fingers crossed for this weekend boys.xx

I too am at a loss to understand why this gorgeous boy is still in kennels. He is loving, affectionate and gentle. Yes he may be 7, yes his a boy and yes he is black, so in my opinion he really does deserve his forever home. People always want a younger dog as they think they will live longer, this sadly is not always the case. I really feel for him, he has seen so many kennel mates come and go, he must be so confused. Please will some kind hearted person give this super boy a chance? He has so much love to give, if I could he would be home with me, but with having 4 already it is not really possible. Think I may get Angie to put him as her screen saver, that has always worked in the past. xx

Like everyone else I am at a loss as to understand why you are still waiting for your own sofa. You are a lovely handsome, kind boy and I have had lovely cuddles with you. I love everyone but you are another one of my soft spots and if I didnt have my 2.......we will have to have a little 1 on 1 talk to see how we can get you to project yourself in an even more positive frame when the hoomans visit. Maybe you need to be a bit more forward??? Look forward to seeing you agsin soon. Xx

Another handsome & mature boy. You absolutely deserve a sofa to call your own at 7. I shall say an extra prayer that you wont have to wait too much longer. With such excellent feedback surely there must be the right home not too far away......who would prefer the company of a more mature boy??
