Today miss 'I run away from waves' ran straight into the sea with 3 retrievers chasing a ball, not once but 3 times - the numpty! One soaking wet dog in a soaking wet t-shirt covered in sand returned to the car... Barney has been a bad influence - Florence has been getting on our bed. She knows mom is not happy! We send Hapoy New Year wishes to all humans and hounds and hope that every hound soon has their own sofa to lie on. Florence, Klaire and TC xxxxx

2019 Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
May I wish everyone and their four legged babies peace & health for the coming year. I am in the middle of a gala buffet in a hotel on Lake Lucerne counting the minutes till I collect my babies in a couple of days. I visited a beautiful benedictine monastery today and lit a candle for my mum and said a prayer wishing that wonderful homes will not be too far away for all the existing residents and the very extra special boys and girls like Spritz and Nick. Happy 2019 every one!!!

2019 Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
Happy New year to all at daybreaks and friends of daybreaks! Jet has been flying the flags for the Grey's again! We were walking over clent yesterday with our friends and 6 dogs (I am biased but seriously jet was the best behaved not causing and bother!) And he was playing with his friends and doing zoomies on the hills and this man said to his young daughter, 'oh I really want one of those dogs with the coat on' so I seized my opportunity and was like oh get one, they're fab and was telling him all about them...we do try! And it's so lovely to see how jets confidence has grown, I know we've had him 4 years now but from the shy, unconfident boy we picked up has flourished this handsome, kind, well behaved, confident, most wonderful dog and me and his daddy are so proud to call him ours. He never puts a paw out of place and is shown when walking with friends who have feral dogs (their words not ours!). It's so lovely to see the change in him and how now he'll go off with his friend's and play, although still comes to check in and make sure we haven't left him! We'll keep our promotion walks going lol xxx

Hector
I’m Homed
Lena and Peggy met the handsome Hector in the park this afternoon. What a lovely big fella he is. Lena retired to the car but Peggy had a walk round the park with him and his new mum. It was lovely to meet them both and it sounds like he’s doing well in his new home. Definitely a Happy New Year for Hector xx

If anyone is looking for a buddy/big brother for their little lady Grey in my experience the Black boys are fab companions. Even the big black boys like Fat Neck Finn. He is such a gentleman with Nina the Diva. When we have been for a walk he stands and waits for her to have a drink before he will have his. Having eaten his meal first he will lie down near her bowl and wait to see if she leaves him any, drooling (she never does) so he licks the bowl when she has left within an inch of its life. When we come down in the morning she gets so excited she will run by him grabbing him by the back of his neck like a mommy dog to control him, and he lets her, never snaps at her, as leader of the pack I have to do that lol. He lets her have his bed if she wants it and goes and gets in hers which is too small for him really, and waits behind her if any food is being prepared for them. Some black boys are being fostered at the moment, and seem to be confirming what I have noticed about them, so don't wait, snap one up now, they are golden. Also great with another boy hound I have found. Happy Healthy New Year to all. Hoping the coming year will be the best yet for cutting the waiting list for the hounds retiring. xx

Bobby (Gent)
I’m Homed
Our late beloved grey Reggie used to sit all the time, he used to sit by me and lay his head and body across my lap, it was so cute and endearing, I used to love it. If we stopped to speak to somebody on our walks he just used to sit down and wait, he weighed 38 kilos so he was a massive dog, really tall, I don't know how he used to manage it lol. Gent sounds an absolute treasure and will hopefully find his forever home soon. Xxxxxx

My last update has disappeared so here it is again. As jetlucy said, Gent's been to the beach and wasn't fazed by the sea except for jumping back a little as the waves came in by him. The biggest thing though, is that Gent can sit! Properly! Only done it twice but he looks so sweet as there isn't any of the awkward leg angles that you normally get with the way a grey sits. I think his forever owners will be able to teach him to do this for treats as he is very bright. He is getting really good at "leave" and doesn't try to eat the food of the other 3 if he's already finished. He is very highly recommended! Xxx

It was surely a sign from over the bridge that Gent came to Daybreaks so close to the time that Mands lovely old boy Gent ran free with all our other angels. It sounds as though he is doing his best to live up to his name. Somewhere out there there must be a forever home for this lovely lad. Wouldn't it be the best year ever if all the hound's fostered where reserved within days of the New Year beginning? I still believe in magic and fairy tales but would settle for half the hounds getting the red sign if absolutely necessary. LOL Fingers crossed xxx

As it is Nicks birthday on 2 Jan, I thought that I would check his horoscope to see what the future may bring...Well it does say that you are at a crossroads in your life and that you will realize a cherished dream! Upon further reading it says that in particular the initials D, I S and B hold a special significance for you, and that music and singing feature heavily in this area. Travel is also mentioned, possibly journeying about 4 hours by car and meeting lovely people with another dog I think. It's getting a bit hazy now, oh sorry, I'm doing horoscope today, not crystal ball!

“I gotta feeling......” (now you’re all humming that tune!) but I’m just saying. Paddykins, you are such a gent welcoming stunningly gorgeous Spritz into your home and kitchen. I for one (back me up here folks), think that you now need a permanent ‘assistant editor’ to write your updates and blogs. Wishing you All a happy & healthy 2019 and looking forward to reading the next chapter... xxxx

Jet
I’m Homed
Jet has been with us a week now and he is still very settled. He is very obedient and intelligent, going to lie down when told to do so. He has his paws wiped when he's been out in the garden and stands and lets you do it without a fuss. In fact, you can do most things to him without any fuss. His little accidents have not happened for a couple of days now. However, as he knows we were sending him outside after his meals, he now runs into the lounge and jumps onto the sofa to avoid it. Lol!! He still has no interest in going up the stairs. He sleeps with our daughter(aged 12) in her room downstairs and is no problem. He's been out in the car a couple of times and travels really well. With regards to other breeds when out on a walk he is very "hit and miss" as to whether he reacts or not. Sometimes he does nothing, other times he has a little bark and cry and will then shut up and look at them and other times he will jump about on his lead crying and barking. He will, however, calm down when told firmly to do so. Like I said previously he is very obedient. He is a pleasure to foster.
