2019 Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
Bitterly cold today, quiet for volunteers this morning, so the resident went in the sand run with Angie, they do like a good run. This sfternoon we had more helpers, so all that could go on a walk did. Thanks guys. Handsome Reggie went home this morning, he has a lovely golden retriever for a brother, what a lovely early Christmas present for him. His new family have really fallen for him! We had another viewing this afternoon, resulting in beautiful Shabby (now Shaney) going off to her new home. Her new mom was quite smitten I think. I took big Hector to the vets this morning for his neutering op, he was not too keen to get in the car, I am sure he knew what was going to happen! Nothing like trying to lift a huge 39.7 kilo dog into a car!!! Even the vets commented on what a big dog he is. He came back this afternoon and ate his dinner. Angie had to leave early today and asked me to do her usual diary post. So in the immortal words of Angie, I think a glass or 2 of wine is called for, obviously for medicinal purposes just to warm me up. Jo Xx

Spritz (Gracie)
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Update from Foster parents.... Spritz had her dressing changed this afternoon, and her wound is now almost gone. The Vet was so pleased he called in colleagues and Nurses who have seen her over the weeks to come and have a look - and Spritz thoroughly enjoyed the attention! Hopefully she will be free of dressings by Christmas. She is being the perfect house guest, and her personality is really starting to shine. She enjoys playing with her treat ball and very quickly learnt how to roll it along with her nose to release the contents! She also loves playing with, or should I say dedding, squeaky toys. This little lady is an absolute pleasure to be with, and considering all she has been through, she is a real gem who loves her fuss and will paw at you if you stop before she is ready! All she needs now is her forever home - she will be a lovely addition to someone's family and will bring them so much. xx

All the best in your new home Reggie. Be a good boy and enjoy your new bed. Try not to help yourself to too many crumpets as I'm sure your new family will give you plenty to eat.

He's home and curled up on his new bed! Almost stole some buttered crumpets off the table - so tall. It's going to be a busy weekend for sure, but we love Reggie x Big thanks to everyone involved with bringing our new dog home. You're doing absolutely sterling work 🙂

If finances would have allowed I would have snapped this boy up and gone to three, just love his face and the larger greys. Prospective owners do not be put of by the larger ones they can squeeze into the smallest positions

Lucy and I took Little Ratty off to the vets to be neutered this morning. She is such a cute girl. 🙂 we also took Jetson for the second part of his vaccination. They were both very good at the vet's, a Rottweiler came out of the consulting room while we were waiting...both of them looked at him with trepidation and didn't make a sound he was huge!! 🙂 It's Hectors turn to be neutered tomorrow, poor lad! Thank you so much to everyone who brought in donations of food and treats for our residents today. So very kind. They are very lucky boys and girls! :)) We have had a lovely gift of food, including Doggy Christmas Puddings, treats and squeaky toy bones from Webbox. We are very grateful. They asked if we could send some photos of the dogs enjoying their Christmas gift. There was no problem in getting Rocky, Lisa and Stan to eat the three bird Christmas dinner! It took a Lucy few attempts to get just what she wanted with the photos. They were more than happy to carry on eating the food. :)) It was one of those days today.....the clock fell onto the floor and broke and the fridge door fell off!! Thanks so much to Pete and Richard for putting the door back on and to Alan for supplying the life saving donuts! :)) Thanks so much to everyone for your help today. Xxx
